Discussion Sermon Guide

In this weeks discussion
we will learn more about the steps needed to embrace a growing future with God.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

1) What are you excited most about the future?
2) Read Genesis 28:18-22 (NLT). Just as Jacob made a pillar to remember God’s faithfulness, we can take time to remember the Lord’s works in our lives. Do you th ink remembering God’s past works is important? Why or why not?

3) Read Genesis 35:2-5 (NLT). In our journey of faith, we are all prone to collecting excess baggage and unhealthy habits. How do we overcome this? Why is it important to overcome this tendency?
4) How can we help support and encourage others who struggle with unhealthy habits?
5) Read Genesis 35:7-10 (NLT). Before Jacob could embrace his future he: 1) Renewed his faith, 2) Took time to grieve, and 3) Embraced his God-given identity. As you consider your future, which of these three areas do you need to give attention to? How can our group help you?
