Take in breathtaking backdrops of the sunset over the lake or the fascinating scenery of Bagan and Mount Popa. Day 1: Yangon Arrive in Yangon and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city which includes Kandawgyi Park, dinner and a show at Karaweik Barge, a visit to a local teashop and the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Day 2: Inle Lake Transfer to Yangon airport for a domestic flight to Heho. On the way to Inle Lake, stop for a quick visit of Shwe Yan Pyay monastery, and then board a private boat to the hotel. Danu and Intha people. Travel by a long-tailed boat across the lake to Indaing for one of the most scenic trips on the Lake, passing through the busy village of Ywama. Disembark at the jetty and walk through Indaing village to reach the 14th-18th century pagoda ruins of Nyaung Ohak. Returning to the river, walk along a lovely shady path to the Intha village of Sema. From here, continue by boat downstream past Yethar village, watching local life on the banks. In the afternoon, transfer to Heho Airport for a domestic flight to Mandalay. Day 4: Mandalay – Innwa (Ava) – Sagaing – Amarapura Take a local ferry from the former royal capital of Innwa (Ava) to the island where your horse cart and driver await. Visit the brick monastery of Maha Aungmye Bonzan before continuing to the impressive wooden monastery of Bagaya Kyaung. In the afternoon, visit picturesque Sagaing and continue to the former capital, Amarapura, where you will visit Mahagandayon monastery. Take a sunset stroll on U Bein Bridge, which is believed to be the longest teak bridge in the world. Day 5: Mandalay – Bagan Enjoy a comprehensive tour of Mandalay in the morning, including a visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, home to a spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves. Near the river lies Shwe-im-bin, a wooden monastery over 100 years old known for its lovely carvings. Stop at local workshops to watch first-hand how the locals make kalaga tapestries, Burmese sweets and paper-thin pieces of gold leaf. Mid-afternoon, visit Kuthodaw Pagoda and Shwenandaw Monastery, the only Royal Palace building to survive the World War II bombing. Transfer to Mandalay airport for your domestic flight to Bagan. Day 6: Bagan Visit a selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezigon, Bagan’s most important shrine and Htilominlo temple, the last Bamar-style temple built in Bagan, which boasts old murals and decorations. In the afternoon, visit a craftsman’s workshop and the Ananda Temple. Continue by horse and cart for a photo stop at the tallest temple - Thatbyinnyu - measuring 61 metres. Continue to Dhammayangyi and Sulamani temples. Day 7: Bagan – Mount Popa – Bagan – Yangon Drive about one hour to Mount Popa, home to Myanmar’s intriguing ‘nats’ (spirits). The 777 steps to the top of Mount Popa provide an energetic climb rewarded by fabulous views from the top. On the way back to Bagan, stop to see local people gathering the sap from palm trees to make raw sugar or toddy palm wine. Transfer to Bagan airport for your domestic flight to Yangon. Day 8: Yangon After breakfast, transfer to Yangon Airport for your international departure.
