OnFebruary27,2013,duringhispresidencyBarackObama,deliveredthisspeech. becauseofthededicationoftheRosaParksstatueintheNationalStatuaryHalloftheUScapitol building.RosaParkswasanextremelyinfluentialfigureinhistoryandthecivilrights movement.BarackObamautilizesrhetoricaldevicessuchasbiblicalallusions,emotional appeals,andtone.

theirtrumpetsthewallswouldfall.InsteadoffightingthepeopleofJerichotogainthatlandthey putfaithinGodandwalkedaroundthecityuntilitfell.SimilarlytothatwhenRosaParksnever resortedtoviolenceandputherfaithinthepeopleandjustlikethatwithouttakinganyspecific actionwithviolenceinvolvedtheywatchedasthewallsbegantocrumble.Omoba(thespeaker) hasavastamountofrespectforRosaParksforstartingthisboycottandspeakingupagainst inequality.WhenBarackObamasaid“strivingeachdaytorightsomewrongsomewhereinthis world''heisusinganemotionalappealcreatingthelistenerstothinkabouthowRosaParkswas doinglittlemundanetasksandstillcouldchangetheworld.

“Fahrenheit451”,RayBradburyarguesandillustratesthatthisworldwouldbelonely, devastatinglydull,andmeaningless,withoutbooksandliterature,heillustratesaworldwithall theirfocusonelectronics.BradburyprovesthisbytheinstantwhenGuy'swifesitsandwatches theTVallday,Hiswifedoesnotcraveknowledge,andcontinuestobefullyimmersedinthe worldthatelectronicsproducedforher,it'sevidentthatshefeelsmeaninglesswhenshetalks aboutherspeedingproblems.BradburywritesaboutGuy'swifeinordertoshowthedangersof livingsoattachedtotechnology.Bradburydirectedthistowardthepeoplearoundhimwhenhe releasedthisbookwhentheTVfirstcameoutandhestartedtopredictjusthowmuchpeople willbeinfusedbytheelectronics.

Homework-Manystudentsdreaditandtrytheirbesttogettheleastamountofit.Thatis whythereisastrongcontroversywhetherornothomeworkisnecessarytolearningandifitisa helporahindrancetoastudent'slearning.Ibelievethathomeworkshouldbethereforextrahelp orpractice,butwithtoomuchhomeworkthereislesslearningandmorefrustrationforstudents. ThatiswhyIthinkthathomeworkissomewhatunnecessaryforstudents,because althoughthereasonforhomeworkishelp,manystudentsdon'thavethetimesotheygetanswers andcheattheirwaythrough,whichiscounterproductivetothecause.Manyteachersdecideto putalotofpressureonthestudentsbyassigningalotofhomework,manystudentsespeciallyin highschoolhavejobsandotherimportantclassesthattheyarealreadybalancingsotheadded stressofhomeworkcouldbedetrimental.Manyteensaresleepdeprivedduetostressthatcomes withhomework,withbalancingsomuchstayingupistheonlywaytheycandotheirwork.But sleepdeprivationleedstomanyotherissuesthatteensoftenexperience,suchasanxiety depression,andevensuicidalthoughts.

Manyteensalreadyexperiencementalhealthproblemssimplyfortheatmosphereof schoolandtheenvironmentthatcanbesomewhattoxicincertaininstances.Sowithanyadded stressthatincludeshomeworkitcouldreallyputastrainonmanystudents.Notonlywiththe stressandtheanxietythatcomeswithtoomuchofaworkload,manystudentsdon'tevendotheir ownworkortry,theyjustgettheiranswersfromothersandotherwisegettheeasywayoutsoit's practicallyuselessandtheonlythingitteachesorhelpswithissimplyrewording.

OverallIbelievethathomeworkdoesnothelpstudentsandinfactstressesoutthe studentsevenmorecausingextrastrainintheirlife.

Homeworkissomethingthatmanypeopleassociatewiththeirworstmemoriesfrom school.Thecountlessnightsstayingupandwritingthatessayorstudyingforthattest,it'sa commonexperienceformanyandthatiswhythisresonatessowellwithall,ithassparkedthe conversationonwhetherornothomeworkisahelporahindranceineducation.Ipersonally believethathomeworkjustaddstoaddedstressonstudentsandcancauseburnoutandmental healthissues.

Studentshavealottobalance,manyhavesports,jobs,friends,andothercommitments thattheyhavetokeepupwith.Schoolisextremelyexhaustingandmanystudentsreportfeeling drainedandantisocialafteraschoolday.Manystudentswanttodecompressafterschool,but insteadarefacedwithmoreworkthattheyhavetodo.Thementalexhaustionisonecomponent butmanystudentscraveaneasywayoutanddonotchallengethestudentorhelpthestudent practice.Homeworkisdesignedinorderforstudentstogainfurtherknowledgebypracticingat homebutattimesitwilljustleavethestudentfeelingfrustratedandhopeless.

Ibelievethatfromexhaustionthatcomeswithalargerworkload,andtryingtobalance everythinggoingoninstudents'personallives,manysufferfromburnout.Burnoutfromwork andthestressthatcontinuesthroughit.Thispertainsspecificallytohigherachievingstudents whohavelargerworkloadsandthisinturncausessleepdeprivationandmentalhealthissues. Thesestudentsaremorelikelytogiveupextracurricularsandgiveupmanyfriendshipsdueto thefactthattheydon'thaveenoughtimetocompletewhattheyneedto.

IamveryproudoftheworkthatIhavecompletedthroughthissemester.Ihavelearneda lotaboutmyselfandmywriting.WhencomingintoAPLangIwasextremelyintimidatedby everything,butslowlyastimecreptbyIrealizedthatwearehalfwaythereandwithevery brainstorminthatnotebook,(whichIthoughtwasuseless)wasworthit,causenowIgainedso manynewideasandtopicstowriteabout.IenjoyedreadingFahrenheit451andtakingnotes becauseIhavepassionforreadingandIlovebooks,sotomethatwasthebest.Ihavelearnedso manynewthingsandoneskillthatIwouldsayhasdefinitelyimprovedismyuseofpunctuation. IthinkthatIshouldcontinuetoworkonvocabularyandgoodsentencestructure,aswellas keepingmythoughtsneat.
