Community Center Mission Statement Here in our community, we know how worrying it can be to hear that a storm is coming and that extreme flooding is possible. However, we also know that the cost of installing newer, greener infrastructure can be overwhelming, leaving you to possibly feel alone in the struggle against climate change and flood reduction in our area. However, that’s what the County Community Center is here for!

The goal of the Green Community Center is to create an inclusive and open environment where residents can discuss implementing green infrastructure into the community without disrupting the current way of life. Studies have found that when the city takes over these projects, communities like ours get left out of the conversation, which leads to raises in taxes, destruction of property, and much more. Therefore, we are here to make sure that your voices and concerns are heard and that we can become greener together.

The Center will serve as a gathering space where you can listen to meetings on the most recent green infrastructure (GI) looking to be implemented in our County, vote on their implementation, discuss what works best for the community, attend community meals made from our community garden, bring your children to read and learn about the environment or to play outside in a safe and green way, or simply to meet others in your community. We hope you will enjoy your time at the Center!

Do you want to know and understand what rights you have to your land? Do you want to know how GI will impact your taxes? Come talk to an environmental lawyer!

DIY Rain Garden Info Session Saturday the 6th at 11 am Rain Gardens can be great low-cost option for flood mitigation.

Come to the info session at the center to learn how to build one as well as to sign up for help building yours if you need it!
