2025 Morocco World Expo Solo Academic Project

concept: This 2025 World Expo Pavilion in Osaka, Japan pays homage to the rich Moroccan culture. Drawing inspiration from the country’s traditional weaving techniques. The pavilion’s design incorporates the Islamic and Spanish influence on Moroccan architecture, featuring a labyrinth of courtyards throughout, arches and a weaving circulation representing the narrow souk street experience.

As visitors make their way through the site, they’ll experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a bustling medina, complete with local artisans selling handmade goods and delicious food.

concept: The aim of this design is to establish a central location for individuals and groups working towards social justice and change in the city.

To accomplish this, the design incorporates a diverse range of facilities, resources, and activities. The site includes a community center, mixed-income housing tower, cultural marketplace and an outdoor amphitheater.

By breaking up the buildings, the design creates ample outdoor space for social interaction and physical activity. It also allows ample natural light to the interiors. The design seamlessly integrates the users with the surrounding natural environment, making the site a verdant oasis within the bustling city.

Steel: Workplace & Wellness

Solo Academic Project

concept: Preserving the 168+ languages spoken in Queens is crucial as they form the foundation of our cultural identities, and a language dies every 14 days.

To achieve this goal, the design incorporates educational spaces, informal and formal gathering spaces for cultural performances, galleries, and an extensive ethnic food hub.

The design raises the sustainability standards of the area through water collection, indirect daylighting, green roofs, and a geothermal field. The steel structure supports cantilevers maximizing green space on the ground level, and offering optimal views on the higher levels.
