2018 was yet another great year for EMBERS marked by continued growth and development of new and existing programs to support people on low incomes improve their livelihoods through jobs, training and employment support.
In the pages to follow, you’ll read the people and partners we’ve been privileged to work with in 2018 and about EMBERS Staffing Solutions, our social enterprise, that generated a record breaking $8.9 million in revenues this year, employing 1900 individuals who we supported in their transition back to work. You will find out about our newest employment program, EMBERS Eastside Works, an income generation hub that is creating specialized job opportunities for high barriered residents in the Downtown Eastside who may only be capable of working a few hours a week, as a first step back to work. And this year, we launched the Power of Work training program providing both hard and soft skills training to EMBERS workers to advance their careers and life skills.
