Human-Centered Urban Living
This project involves a modern residential building, combining a sleek design of brick and contemporary materials. Focused on a human-centered living experience, the layout features open-plan living areas with large windows that connect residents to the surrounding landscape. The top floor includes luxurious penthouses that provide stunning panoramic views.
Belgium’s architectural philosophy emphasizes the importance of community and green living, and this project follows suit. Alongside the main building, a row of family homes shares beautifully landscaped communal gardens, encouraging social interaction and creating serene outdoor environment. This design embodies the Belgian lifestyle by combining modern urban living with respect for nature and community, offering both comfort and sustainability.
Careful Material Selection
The primary material used for the building was brick, chosen for its durability and energy efficiency. Concrete was applied in key structural areas, particularly around the stairs and elevators. The design emphasized sustainability, with high-performance insulation and energy-efficient windows. Prefabricated elements were also incorporated to streamline construction and minimize disruption in the urban environment.

Eco-Conscious Living
The building features an extensive green roof system that not only enhances insulation but also contributes to stormwater management by reducing runoff. This sustainable approach helps lower energy consumption while creating a pleasant environment for residents. In addition, solar panels were installed to harness renewable energy, providing power for communal areas and further reducing the building’s carbon footprint.

Urban street transformation
A Walk Through History
Year: 2022
Location: Ilidza, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Project by: Ema Zeković
Type: Urbanism and landscape
This attachment highlights the experience and feeling of the location. The red-marked blocks between buildings create a sense of enclosure due to their proximity and lack of greenery. In contrast, areas along wide, accessible promenades with landscaped spaces evoke openness and comfort.
Facades have a simple rhythm, mainly using lime plaster, as shown in the attached graphic. The new building should blend with the environment. The Small Alley features a red brick facade on the sports hall, with a metal roof and transparent surfaces.
The location has great potential, and the key points are: introduce more urban and cultural events, remove excess items from the street, and improve lighting to define the alley.

Traffic is a significant issue here, especially during the day, with congestion towards the city. The mix of vehicle, pedestrian, tram, and bus traffic creates safety concerns, compounded by noise in this residential area. However, there is sufficient parking and two nearby public garages.
Selected Works
The location lacks significant vegetation, except for the riverbank and some tall plants along the road. It’s crucial to preserve existing green spaces and add new ones where possible. The terrain is stable for construction. rupt the experience.
The graphic shows a mix of residential and commercial buildings, mainly serving families. Nearby schools are beneficial, but the one on Emira Bogunića Čarlija Street has access issues.

Beauty of preservation and the power of history
The same paving connects the promenade of Mala Aleja and Emir Bogunića Čarlija Street, which also becomes a promenade, creating the effect of a shared space connected to the Butmir culture - the paving is inspired by decorative elements characteristic of the Butmir culture. The installation of monuments or other landmarks related to Butmir in Emir Bogunića Čarlija Street creates a walk through the history of the Butmir culture. The existing surrounding greenery has been preserved, and new greenery has been designed in accordance with the climate conditions and the purpose of the space.

This living area exudes sophistication and comfort with its open layout and thoughtful use of space. A wall of built-in bookshelves provides a focal point, paired with soft furnishings in neutral tones and touches of muted pink. The design encourages relaxation, enhanced by the natural light pouring in through large doors. Modern pendant lighting and a piano in the background add elements of both elegance and personal charm to the room.

The kitchen design features a mix of natural wood textures and pastel tones, highlighted by ample natural light flowing through the diamond-paned windows. The centerpiece is a large island with wooden stools, adding functionality and warmth to the space. Pendant lighting and a farmhouse-style sink enhance the cozy yet contemporary feel, while the detailed cabinetry adds a refined touch to the overall design.
