ABOUT ME
My name is Eman Abdou a Fashion Designer with two Bachelor’s degrees in Fashion Design from IED Moda Milano, and Architectural Design from AAST Alexandria, Egypt and still eager to learn more. As someone who listens to their inner child, story telling plays a big role (especially about culture and heritage) in incorporating them into my designs and work. I have dedicated myself to the art of weaving fabric, with a passion for using unconventional materials and embroidery.
Sansovino 6
knitwear/ gender-neutral/ layering
Inspired by Sansovino 6 “knitted situations and things” gender neutral and multi layering,
The capsule is made up of three different looks, based on earlier outfit combinations.
The first look is based on the playfulness of asymmetrical layering over one shoulder instead of both, and adding a more structural gender neutral long shorts. with a variation of colors.
For time is but a moment and home is faraway, the longing and years passing created nothing but wrinkly faces. O how we would forgive and erase the anger, just to return to the beginning. Back to our singing celebrations, our henna nights, our date springs, for we are nothing but humans.”
¬ Hamza El Din - El Zaman
Sawah is the Egyptian Nubians’ imaginary journey back home, where the collection focuses on their background, identity, and culture, but transforming them into patriotic nomads. Creating a world where they turn into rebels, and fight back for their identity’s survival without losing it and their rightful land.

Stripes and weaves are the most dominant elements in the collection. However they are not presented in the classic and expected way, but used together to complement each other, along with playful pleating and sheer tulle, from the traditional nubian "Gergar".. All these elements act as a futuristic upgrade to the original Nubian style and their character development.
Different layering of fabrics are also derived from the traditional silhouettes, which are mainly cotton, wool, and linen. The cotton based garments, are organically pleated creating voluminous structures, which flatter the silhouettes, giving them a strong powerful presence and a strong character, which can be especially seen with the playful yet dominant dresses and oversized pants. A Native feel surrounds the collection, yet it is still contemporary for both; menswear and womenswear.
Ease, comfort and versatility, also define the ever flowing dresses, pants and galabias.

The collection focuses on playful, colorful characters that mimic Basquiat’s organic style. Just like his paintings, the manipulations used unconventional materials other than yarn, like plastic bags, pins. Some pieces included Hand Woven Rya with tassels. The designs embrace the idea of “coloring outside the border”.

Several Works
The top is an up-cycled project using vintage mother of pearl buttons from the 60s.
Instead of using them as normal accessory buttons they were used as the main piece. Their original metallic like shiny color resonated with medieval under-armour garments. with metallic hoops attached together.
1000 buttons were used in total to make this crop top, embroidered together using linen thread. The finished product weighs 1.5 kilos. Thanks to material recycling the product cost only 60€. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
