13 Dating Tips You Can Use to Find Your Next Job

Desire + Passion + Decision + Action = Results

Over the years, I discovered there are a few traits required to accomplish basically anything at whatever level you want to accomplish it. Whether you want to become a mega-millionaire, lose weight, or have a better relationship, it doesn’t matter. The first step is to have a desire to change.

Most people are complacent with where they are in life. They have a desire to do something better, but most won’t go to the level of execution to make it happen. They’ll say, “I’m going to persevere. I’m going to change,” or “As soon as this happens, I’m going to change.” You could ask 1,000 people out on the street corner if they’d like to earn more money this year, and probably 1,000 people would say, “Yes.” But how many really will?

You’ve got to have a desire strong enough to build enough passion inside your gut to move you forward to the next trait, which is the ability to make a decision without knowing how you’re going to get there. Most people make decisions based upon what they know, not what they don’t know. My decision to be a mega-millionaire when I was living in mediocrity is an example.

If you want to lose weight, there’s no reason to look for ways of doing it until you decide to do it. Then you can say, “Well, I’ve got a problem.” But until you decide to handle that problem, you won’t look for ways to do it. That’s the second trait, to be a decision maker that doesn’t allow for anything short of what they’ve decided to do.

You can’t have success and failure in one decision, because they’re two different decisions. It’s the desire, a decision and taking action, because nothing happens without it. You’ve got to move forward. Even if you don’t know all the actions you’ve got to take, you’ve got to at least start moving in the direction you want to go, whether it’s doing research, taking action toward making a sale, or whatever you’ve decided to do.

When you take action, you’ll be confronted with your comfort zone.

But you don’t grow unless you’re uncomfortable. If you’re comfortable, you’re not growing, and you’ll just end up staying right where you are, maintaining your status quo.

In today’s world, you have to be bold, because if you’re not, somebody who is bold will step up and take it from you.

Manifest Your Destiny By Reaching Beyond Your Limits

The world is much bigger than the four corners of the walls that you’ve boxed yourself in. Start taking down those walls, one at a time, so you can see the beauty of the world and how you can manifest your destiny in it.

Be an active participant in life. Do not rest on your laurels and watch life pass you by, period. Be active. Be engaged. Jump the hurdle. If you can't jump a hurdle, figure out how to go underneath it and make your individuality a priority.

Become the Person You Want to Attract in Your Life

I want everybody to know that you can achieve and that you can be great. Nobody is better than anybody else. It’s just a matter of working hard, being dedicated and making sacrifices. It’s a matter of investing in yourself. Fight for your future and understand what it means to be the perfect version of yourself.

God invested so much into you and I feel it’s our duty to make good on those investments.

In everything that you do, you’ve got to ask yourself, “What am I becoming”, because whatever you become is what you will attract.

Always Go the Extra Mile

I don’t believe in living the second-best version of myself, and I certainly don’t want to encourage anybody else to live the second-best version of themselves. The only way we can really live our best version is to continually go the extra mile in so many different areas of our lives, in our health, our careers and our relationships. It’s when we do a little bit more that we create the change that makes something great, that turns it from good to great.

Each of us has within us the ability to not only change our own life, but to change someone else’s life, too. They should take to heart the fact that if you’re here, then why not live the most passionate, positive, purposeful adventure you possibly can? We don’t have to just settle.

My favorite song of all time is Michael Jackson’s, Man in the Mirror, because everything always begins with that person in the mirror. We can stand up and say everything going wrong in our life is because of that person or this person. We can say the universe is conspiring against us. We can live the most miserable, defeated life ever, or we can finally say, “You know what? Things happen, but I’m responsible for how I think, feel and act because of those things.”

When you start to take success personally, you realize that everything bad that happens to you can be turned into a positive. That’s when you start to get power over your life. That’s when self-mastery starts to kick in, and you can start to direct and guide your life, not just float down the river.

Success Belongs to Those Who Persevere

I have discovered personally, and I witness on a regular basis, that there are so many ups and downs in this journey called life. Whatever road we take, and whatever decisions we make, we're going to end up somewhere. Why not end up at the top?

Stay encouraged; stay on the path to success because there is success awaiting on your journey. You decide what level it will be. Stay focused, stay in tune with God, and keep making it happen, because it will.

Allow Your Uniqueness to Manifest Greatness

There are a few ways you can make positive changes in your life even when you’re surrounded by negative people. Number one, my grandmother says, “Other people’s perception of you ain’t none of your business.”

They’re not in your life to be your visionary partner. They’re in your life to be your anchor. They’re in your life to keep you setting healthy boundaries, to help you grow up or to help raise the children. Let them be who they are in your life, and quit trying to make them your fan.

Number two, sometimes your greatest truth does not come served with warm cookies and milk. You’ve got to take it straight, no chaser. When people around you are not cheering for you, or you are the only person in your community who gets your vision, recognize this, because I call him God. You call him whatever you choose.

I’m not here to impose my belief system on anyone, but recognize if you’re the only person to get your vision, it’s because God didn’t give your vision to anybody else but

you. When I got that one, I thought, “I can sleep at night now.” Your vision is yours.

You are a unique, unrepeatable miracle with that vision. That vision for you is like your fingerprint. It’s unique and it’s only yours. Will people come by and agree with it? Yes. Will people come by and disagree with you? Yes. Will people come by and support it? Yes.

Number three, recognize there is a tribe out there, a community that’s waiting to support you. Most of the time, they’re not your biological tribe, given to you by God as your family. They’re the tribe that you need to hunt and find.

They will be there. So go where like-minded people are; those are the unicorns like you. Go hunt for your tribe, the community you know is going to hold you to your greatness. You don’t want someone holding you to your smallness, keeping score in your life, expecting the 2012 version of you to show up. You want someone holding you accountable to the 2020 version of yourself.

All It Takes is Hope, Action and Faith

Growing up, we didn't have money, but we had a lot of fun. We smiled. We joked. My siblings and I used to cut food advertisements out of magazines. We would take a photo of McDonald's Big Mac, rub it against our stomachs, and say, “I'm full now.” We kept a sense of humor. It was just my mother and her four children, and we stuck together.

Today we're all productive citizens, and Mom should be very proud that we turned out okay even though we grew up on public assistance.

I was raised around negative elements but my drive motivated me to believe that I didn't have to stay in that place. When I was a child, I couldn't control my

circumstances, but when I became an adult I set my goals and pursued my dreams. My advice is to write down your goals and dreams. I always visualized mine, and I reminded myself that reaching them wouldn’t take much longer. After all, this is America, the land of opportunity, and my dreams can be fulfilled.

You have to want it. Nothing's going to be handed to you. Our country’s forefathers fought on my behalf years ago, and I feel an obligation to bring that success to my 11 year old son. I want him to know the contributions that his father made, and never experience the poverty that I faced. I'm proud to have done that. To me, that's the ultimate success.

You’re Worth More Than You Realize

The very first day in my class, I take a $20 bill out of my pocket and show it to the class. I ask, “If I were to give it to someone, who would not want to take this twenty dollar bill, no strings attached?” Everyone raises their hand. The next thing I do is crumple it into a ball and throw in the trash can. Then I ask, “Now, who still wants that twenty dollar bill?” Everyone, of course still raised there hand.

I said to them, “That shows you that you have worth. No matter what you’ve been told, or no matter what your situation is, or if someone told you that you couldn’t accomplish something, you must think of yourself as that

twenty dollar bill, whether it’s a crisp new bill in a new leather wallet, or if it’s crumpled in the trash can. If you unfold it, you don’t have to iron it to make it look new again. If you take it to the bank they will accept it. That’s how you should think about your lives.”

The second thing I tell them is, “That there’s no such thing as luck. You know what luck is? Luck is when opportunity meets preparation or vice versa. If you prepare yourself and opportunity knocks, then you can walk through the door.” Some people walk through without preparation, and that’s why they don’t succeed.

We’re Part of the Same Family: The Human Family

I've traveled to almost 70 countries and continue to travel. What I've realized is that everybody - whatever their color, religion, or political belief - has very similar underlying qualities. No matter where I go, people have the same desires for their lives. All you need to do is tap into their human side, and try to understand their perspectives and their cultural beliefs. You’ll find that deep down everybody is the same.

Let's not be prejudiced. Let's not have pre-formed opinions about people from different backgrounds. Instead, try to put yourself in their shoes and take a moment to understand their culture. You'll see that they're no different from you.

Adversity Can Help You See the “Possible” in What Others Think is Impossible

I grew up picking and chopping cotton for two dollars a day. My development actually came from that cotton field. I didn't know it then, but I was practicing the law of attraction. I was also practicing Napoleon Hill's philosophy in Think and Grow Rich. When I went into the fields at six in the morning and didn't leave until six or seven in the evening, I had time to get acquainted with myself. I didn't have anybody to talk to, so nobody got into my head but me.

I would go within myself and dream about being successful, far away from the cotton field. “One day I'm going to be able to eat an apple and buy all the bananas I want,” I’d think. “One day, I'm going to have some money. One day, I'm going to have a car.”

I went places in my mind when I was in that cotton field. What else are you going to do when you're out there 12

or 15 hours a day and it's 95 degrees? You've got to do something. I would disappear in my mind to break up the monotony of picking cotton. What I didn’t realize was that I was also building a resolve that would serve me well in life. That cotton field gave me a knowledge of myself. It was my foundation.

I learned how powerful the mind is. I give credit to my foundation, those 14 to 15 hours every day in the field where I got acquainted with myself. That’s where I had a chance to build power in my mind.

When a man discovers the power in his mind, he discovers the God that is in him. That's why I know there's no adversity that I can’t overcome.

Discover Your Passion and Go For It

My best piece of advice for anyone who wants to start a business – male or female – is hone in on your passion. Figure out what makes you tick, what you enjoy doing, what you’re good at, and go from there. Don’t necessarily look at other people and say, “Oh, they’re making so much money doing this,” or, “Look how successful somebody is at doing that.” If the business doesn’t fit with your skill set and what you love to do, you’ll never succeed. You should go to work every day doing something that you love, and things will grow from there.

You have to look within yourself and say, “What am I good at and where do I fall short?” Use that information to build a business that is realistic. If you’re not a people person, then outsource that skill and then work on the back end. Go in with realistic expectations of what you’re good at and what you’re not good at doing.

Principles That Lead to Business Success

Five key principles that I believe are necessary to achieve success in business include:

1. Humility - staying grounded no matter how much success you achieve.

2. Hard work - remember that nothing is free.

3. Relationships - nourish them and you will reap the fruits.

4. Trust - if you don't give trust you will never receive trust.

5. Fairness - fairness to others is fairness to yourself.

Are You in Alignment with Your True Purpose?

When you get in alignment with your purpose and you’re really doing the things that you were put on this earth to do, the possibilities are limitless in terms of what you can do, what you can become, the impact that you can have in the world and on the lives of the people around you. It’s all about aligning with the things that you’ve been destined and created to do.

Leadership Without Regret

I realized that the mistakes you make and the challenges you face shape you into a better leader, to the extent that you're willing to share it. Sharing your experiences gives you the opportunity to prevent somebody else from making those mistakes.

Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
