Green views for The Springs To understand the performance, health, and needs of the community landscape we decided to undertake extensive analysis. This was done in order to upgrade the streetscape with the implementation of the best horticultural practices to ensure proper growth and development of newly planted trees. As a result of this study, a total of 1569 tree pits will be modified and upgraded as phase 1 across Springs 1-6.

See you at the track It’s finally here – your community’s dedicated jogging track! The track runs through Springs 2, Meadows 5 & 6 and provides ample views of lush vistas.

The polyurethane coated track is designed to be comfortable to run on without sacrificing the speed. Get in your day’s calorie burn or venture on a leisurely stroll on this one-kilometer track.

Meanwhile, more serious athletes can track their progress with the distance markers to record laps. Moreover, 70 new pole lights are installed to create a path of brilliance and safety on the track and walkway after sundown.

Please remember no pets allowed on the track.

Tips for a safe jog Land on your forefoot instead of heels. It reduces the impact on joints and bones.

Take short effective strides. It reduces the movement within any joint also contributing to a longer, healthier life for the joints.

Mosque refurbishment A mosque is so much more than a simple house of worship. It is a precious sanctuary that provides a place for individual enlightenment, education and moral guidance.

The three large mosques in Emirates Living - Al Samad mosque next to The Meadows Souk, Al Waheed Mosque next to The Springs Souk, Al Wahab Mosque next to Emirates International School – underwent a massive updo including several upgrades. Here is a gist: • Safety comes first, so we went ahead and installed brand new handrails and footrails at ablution rooms.

• Shiny new mirrors have been installed at the ablution rooms.

• New windows and tiles have replaced worn out and damaged ones.

• Walls and staircases were given a fresh coat of paint.

• Windows were repaired and reinforced in the minaret.

For prayers from the heart, the beauty and prestige of your sacred house of worship is restored.

Christmas season is upon us Holiday lights, dazzling decorations, sparkling reindeers, and imaginative displays illuminate the Montgomerie roundabout, all set to hail Christmas.

That’s right, a six-metre tall tree takes center stage in the community lifting the Christmas spirit onto a new level.

Whether you prefer a boisterous and magnificent soiree or a simple, quiet celebration with your close ones, a Christmas tree is a must. It brings colour, light, and festive spirit, but above all happiness!

We know you’re eagerly counting down the days to this grand holiday.

Neighbour

Please keep noise and disturbance levels to a minimum.

Keep your pets on a leash and clean up after them at all times.

Let’s be respectful towards other users and use amenities mindfully. Move out after your use.

Traffic laws are our friend, please obey them and avoid speeding on community roads.

Please do your part to keep the community clean and practice proper garbage disposal.

The community staff are doing their best, please be respectful to them.

Don’t forget to carry your access cards and please do not tailgate.

Common areas are for everyone, please do not store items there.

Follow Covid-19 guidelines for your and everyone else’s safety.

PRE P ARIN G F OR A RAINY DAY In Dubai, we love the rain because it’s a welcome change from the usual heat. However, nature is an unpredictable master. So, we must stay prepared With intense rains and thunderstorms, it is prudent to stay home.

• Remove moveable items that can be ruined by rain.

• Make sure your drains and gutters are cleared.

• Ensure your windows are doors and sealed well to prevent seepage.

• Check your roof. Repair cracks to avoid entry of water.

• Trim your trees because loose branches can easily damage your home during heavy winds.

• Rain means water. Water means breeding ground for pests.

So, remember to stay up-to-date with your pest control.

GREEN WASTE No time to compost?

Our partnered landscaping company will collect and transport your gardening waste to composting facilities at subsidized rates. Just make sure to put your garden waste in sacks or netting and secure them tightly.

CONCRETE WASTE Modified your home, have to deal with construction waste?

As per Dubai Municipality (DM) regulations, disposing construction waste is the responsibility of your contractors. This waste should not be disposed in communal waste and only in DM approved sites.

I simply did what anyone would have done in my situation.

Service providers are the pillars of a thriving community. With a harmonized team working round-the-clock - from cleaners, gardeners, security to electricians, plumbers, pest control staff like cogs in a well-oiled machine to serve a common goal – resident satisfaction. But every once in a while, a team member elevates his esteem in the community.

Hailing from India, Rijo Johny came to Dubai with hopes of providing a better life for his family back home. An eight-year veteran lifeguard, the 36-year old is extremely passionate about his job. “I love my job and the best thing is the teamwork and cooperation with our peers,” he says. Little did he know his passion would be soon put to the test.

On a mundane evening, Rijo maintains his post and never loses focus. Which is why he was able to notice the limbs flailing in the pool – a mother and her nine-month-old child were struggling. Rushing to the scene and adhering to his training, Rijo kept his cool and pulled them to safety. Because of his quick action, the mother and child, although a little shaken were unharmed, returned to safety, and given first aid. Hailed as a hero, he modestly says, “It was a very natural reaction for me. I did not do it for accolades or praise. I simply did what anyone would have done in my situation.”

We are in the festive mood! But it isn’t complete without great food. Mrs. Fernandes from Emirates Hills is here to delight you with her tried-and-true recipe for a traditional Christmas sweet – Baath Cake You’ll need: • • • • • •

Semolina – 1 kg Coconuts – 3 nos Eggs – 9 nos Milk - 2 cups Powdered sugar - 1.5 kg Vanilla essence - 20 ml

Nutmeg powder - 1 tsp Cardamom powder - 1.5 tsp Unsalted butter - 500 gms Salted butter - 100 gms Baking powder - 1 tsp

Method: • Grate the coconut and grind it while adding water.

• In a big mixing bowl, beat 9 eggs till it is frothy. Add the milk, then add the powdered sugar, grated coconut and butter. Mix all the ingredients together with an electric beater.

• Add semolina and mix well with a spatula. Leave it to soak overnight.

• Next morning, add vanilla essence, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder, and baking soda to the mixture. Mix well.

• Grease the mould with butter, then add the mixture into the mould and bake it at 170oC for 45 to 50 minutes and enjoy!
