Fire Safety this Festive Season As per NFPA data, a striking 33% of holiday tree fires spark in January, ringing alarm bells about fire hazards during the festive season. While all holiday trees pose fire risks, understanding the specific safety concerns tied to pre-lit artificial trees is crucial. Surprisingly, these trees can serve as significant fuel sources if ignited. Here's what to keep in mind: • Clear Surroundings: Keep flammables away. • Lights Off, Always: Turn off tree lights when leaving. • Check Fire Safety: Ensure fire-retardant testing. • Clear Pathways: Don't block exits with the tree. • No Open Flames: Avoid candles near the tree. • Replace Faulty Lights: Fix worn-out or broken strings. • Moderate Decoration: Don't overdo combustible decor. • Use Certified Lights: Ensure fire-rated light strings. Enjoy a safe and cheerful holiday!

Waste Management Ever heard of waste hierarchy? It includes reducing what you use, and then finding ways to reuse items. Next up, refill, repair, or repurpose things before you think about replacing them. And if you can't do any of that, recycling comes in, just before you toss it in the bin. This whole hierarchy is like a step-by-step guide to make sure we're not filling up land and sea with loads of garbage. At Burj Khalifa, we take this seriously. We've got spots all around the place – refuse rooms, parking areas, entrances, and more – decked out with special bins and facilities for sorting waste. Why does this matter? It helps us cut down on how much trash ends up in landfills. Right now, we're hitting a 55% diversion rate, but we're not stopping there. Our goal? To bump that up to a solid 65% because every bit of waste diverted means a cleaner, greener environment

Our objective is to attain complete segregation for the following items: • Paper – Cartons • Metal – Aluminum cans By ensuring 100% segregation of these materials, we aim to streamline their proper disposal and recycling processes

Play It Safe, Get Insured In the face of a catastrophic loss, a home insurance coverage may be your solace – but not everyone understands this. To help you pick the right plan, we’ve pulled up a few important points for you to remember.

Which plan should you take? Most plans cover water damage, fire, natural disasters and theft but not all cover you against damage you may inadvertently cause yourself.

What should you insure? Go through the details of the plan’s coverage to check if it covers all your furniture, electronics, walls and flooring, and valuables.

Where should you go? There are around 50 licensed insurance companies in the UAE, offering a variety of plans – compare different plans based on their merits and demerits. Always read the fine print and ask questions regarding coverage and claims.

TIP: Make a list of your belongings and their prices before applying for insurance to ensure you get sufficient coverage.
