Bike bay for deliveries The convenience home delivery affords is undeniable. However, more deliveries mean more delivery bikes around your towers, which can lead to problems of: • Noise pollution.

• Double parking - blocking pavements and entrances.

• Delivery men wasting time searching for parking.

• Blocking pedestrians and other vehicles in the community.

But there’s good news. We now have a designated delivery bike parking area in front of Anbar and Fairooz tower entrances.

And for added safety of our residents, we have also installed new stainless-steel bollards at the entrance of all the towers.

Scoop the poop A great pet owner will exercise their dogs regularly, play with them and clean up their waste.

Being a pet-friendly community, we encourage the proper care of pets and in aide of proper pet etiquette, we have installed new dog waste bins all around the common areas.

Let your dog explore the community, make new friends and take care of business - you just be there with a waste bag and scoop-up after him.

Finding a bin won’t be a problem!

We’ve added new dumbbells at the Dubai Marina Towers gymnasiums.

The weights are durable and the perfect aid in your fitness quest. One of the most basic and recognizable pieces of gym equipment, the dumbbell offers amazing exercise benefits: • Get a total body workout by doing straightforward basic lifts - squats, bench press, overhead press, and deadlift.

• As you continue to perfect your technique, you'll strengthen your neuromuscular connection, which is responsible for major strength gains.

• Learning how to move a dumbbell teaches the mind muscle coordination to move an object efficiently.

A cleaner outlook We’re all aware of the importance of cleaning interiors, but what about the exteriors? A fresh-looking façade presents a more welcoming, hospitable front, so it’s crucial to keep them clean.

Over time, the building was affected by the general environment- dirt, grime, stains and pollutants making their mark. So, we used a high-pressure wash on the external façade of Dubai Marina Towers and the retail areas of your community to combat this issue.

Why? Because it’s a great method to clean a large area thoroughly. It can get rid of bird droppings, mold growth and dirt buildup which can wear away at a building, causing rot or further damage.

Now your buildings are beautiful inside-out.

A fresh coat for the season We want our community to always remain beautiful. But the poor walls and floors take a toll everyday - from use, time and nature. So, we gave them some care: Painting was carried out across the Angsana lobby, staircases, drivers lounge and prayer room corridors.

Regular painting is essential to protect the walls from moisture, which can lead to mold and mildew which can cause extensive damage to the walls.

A new coat of paint helps to seal out moisture.

The floors of these areas were also given a good shine and restored to its former glory.

New worlds, hidden in paper!

Here’s how you can help: 1. Help build the library Contribute to our collection of books by giving them to the concierge at the reception 2. Become a member Share a book in exchange for another. Or borrow one and return it when done.

Community rules are your guide 1. Balcony etiquette – Keep your balconies clean. Avoid storing items, installing satellite dishes or displaying posters.

2. No honking – Loud horns at any time of the day can disturb people.

Think of your neighbours and don’t honk too frequently or for too long.

3. Tamp that noise – Schedule drilling or noisy work between 8 AM and 1 PM, or 3 PM and 5 PM. 4. Cut the blare – Be considerate towards your neighbours and don’t blast music late into the night.

5. Keep a clear path – Store your belongings, including bicycles and shoes inside your house and not in the corridors. Similarly, make sure garbage is disposed of in the chutes. This can clutter the area and block vital accesses.

Digital contractor permits It’s official! Contractor permits are now completely digitized for your convenience. Simply because digitization eliminates manual procedures at security offices and replaces them with efficient and fast processes using technology.

Your appointed contractors can register and apply for community entry permits online at ecmpermits.ae, where they can find useful multilingual video guides. Three types of permits are available to contractors, depending on the type and duration of the work: • Short-term permits • Long-term permits • Access permits for home modification works Note: From 01 July 2021, only contractors with a digital permit will be allowed entry into the community.

With temperatures about to soar, let’s make sure your air conditioners are fit for the task.

Set the thermostat at 24ºC.

Regularly clean the filters and coils. Dirty coils and filters can lead to the compressor or fans failing prematurely.

WAYS TO REDUCE COOLING COSTS 1. Clean filters every 6 months. Replace filter as required and recommended by a professional.

2. Prevent hot air seeping in by sealing any cracks and openings.

3. Seal the AC ducts as air loss leads to higher energy consumption.

4. During summer, use curtains, drapes, shades and reflective materials to reduce the heat entering through your glass or windows.

5. Use a bathroom fan when showering or bathing. This helps to keep humidity at bay.

6. Use an exhaust fan in the kitchen to avoid excess heat and humidity inside the house.

The compressor and fan controls can wear out with frequent use and corrosion of wire, these should be checked by a professional.

Make sure the condensate drains aren’t clogged.

Clogged drains inhibit a unit from reducing humidity.

Communal spirit soars during Ramadan The month of Ramadan brings out the best in community spirit and this year it reached an all-time high. In the true spirit of giving back, the holy month was marked by honouring the tireless efforts of our service providers.

Over 180,000 Iftar meal packets were distributed to the community’s service providers including, lifeguards, housekeeping staff, security guards and gardeners. The meal distribution was carried out across 12 main community locations and service provider campsites, while ensuring safety measures were always adhered to.

A time for giving, it truly was!

1. Showerheads can gather mineral deposit, affecting its use. Screw the showerhead off and soak in vinegar overnight.

Be secured, rest assured.

Don’t leave your home vulnerable to risks while you’re away. Remember this guide: • Secure all doors and windows.

• Turn on the ‘Vacation mode’ on Emaar One app (available on Play Store and App Store) so that your community security and manager are notified while you are away.

• Entrust a spare key to a trusted friend or neighbour and have them keep an eye on your home while you’re away.

• Lock your valuables in a safe location.

• Cancel all subscriptions to your home while you’re away. Newspapers and packages unattended on your doorstep signals an empty home and can attract unsavoury characters.

• Protect your home against fire switch off non-essential switches and ensure the smoke detectors are in working order.

Plug the leak for a greener bill As a home occupant, it’s your responsibility to identify and repair any water leaks in your home.

How to check for water leaks:

Water leaks can lead to:

• Monitor your DEWA bill and usage. If your bill is higher than your usage, you can suspect a leak. If you have a smart meter, DEWA sends a high water usage alert to your registered phone number or email address, or through DEWA smart application, every 15 days, for up to 3 months.

• Ensure all taps are tightly closed. Inspect toilets, sinks, flush tanks, water heaters, washing machines and dishwashers for overflows/leaks.

• Check for wall discolouration, as this could indicate water leaking from behind the wall and soaking through the front.

• Get a home health check done on an annual basis for a snag check on your home’s air conditioning, plumbing and electricals. Log on to the mobile app Emaar One to find recommended service providers for preferential rates.

Trash the attitude, not the neighbourhood With so many easy and responsible waste disposal avenues within your home and in your community, why chuck it from the balcony?

Littering from balconies can have numerous damaging effects: • Trash falling on an unassuming passerby could cause injuries and even death.

• Falling cigarette butts are a serious fire hazard. They are also non-biodegradable and take years to decompose while emanating toxic chemicals.

• Young children and pets could accidentally swallow or handle dangerous waste.

• It could increase the maintenance cost resulting from frequent cleaning.

• It ruins the aesthetics of the community.

The Dubai Municipality takes a dim view of this practice and violators could be fined up to AED 50,000.

The saga of the abandoned trolleys Discarded or unattended shopping carts are an ongoing menace with several damaging consequences. Let’s count the ways: • Children see trolleys as toys, pushing it around carelessly, swinging and riding on it. Often, they can’t control the trolleys, causing inevitable accidents.

• Vital time could be lost in an emergency, by trolleys blocking entrances and fire exits.

• Trolleys left haphazardly in narrow corridors can be collided with, causing injuries, or in the very least, unnecessary delays.

• Residents abandoning trolleys in common areas will be issued with a Notice of Violation (NOV), followed by a penalty.

Want to help?

If you bring a trolley from the supermarket, make sure you return it back promptly. This simple task can avoid huge hassles down the road.

Feeding stray cats a moral dilemma Feeding hungry and homeless cats is a wonderfully humane thing to do.

However, in the long run, it can cause more harm than good.

• The stray you feed may be infested with fleas or worse, has rabies. Fleas in cats may lead to tapeworm infestation which can be transferable to humans in rare cases.

• When you feed them regularly, they not only expect it, but they bring their friends too. More strays mean more chance for disease spreading.

• Regularly fed cats multiply at a fast rate, increasing the stray population.

• Feral cats may scratch or bite people.

• They get dependent on humans for food and don’t forage for themselves.

If their regular feeding stops, they will be helpless, not able to fend for themselves.

Up close & personal with Anush Kumar Meet Anush Kumar - the man who keeps your community in pristine condition. We had a tête-à-tête with Anush, from India, who’s been your community’s housekeeping staff for seven months.

What’s his typical day like?

I start my day by showering to ensure personal hygiene.

After breakfast, I leave for work. I come home after 11 hours or duty, shower and then have dinner. After dinner I like to chat with my family and friends before I go to bed around 11 pm.

On his family back home?

My family lives in India. We are a close family and I miss them a lot. I came to UAE to work and earn money to support my family financially.

Any memorable moments on the job?

The collaboration and caring I witnessed between the team when I joined was very heartwarming and reassuring. I will always remember the unity and support we share.

What is your ambition or dream?

My ambition is to get promoted as a supervisor by working hard and earning more. I want to go back to my home country, build my own business and raise my own family.

How has the year been so far?

Last year was a crucial period for everybody due to the pandemic, but I feel this year things are improving, and I hope it will all get back to normal soon and we can enjoy life like before.

Doggie Duty

Alright Twister, let’s head home.

Hang on Sid, you need to clean up after Twister – you can’t just leave his waste there!

But why? Its manure – it fertilises the plants so I’m helping the community!

No, you’re harming the landscaping!

Miss Rita told us that dog waste is as deadly as chemicals and pesticides!

I also read that it’s full of hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms and billions of other microbes – imagine one of the little kids playing in the park came in contact with it!

That’s horrifying. I wish I brought something to pick it up with.

Don’t worry Sid, our community makes it so easy for us – just pull out one of the disposable wraps, pick it up and drop it into the bin!
