‘Marble’ous elevators Notice the lustrous new marble floors at your community’s elevators? We’ve just installed blocks of royal wood marble in all 22 of them to ‘lift’ the ambience!

• Quarried in Iran, this variety of the stone features a brown ‘woody’ grain with dark veins.

• Having high thermal conductivity, marble floors also help keep temperatures low.

• The highly reflective surface brightens up an area, especially enclosed spaces like elevators.

• Although it’s a soft stone, marble is highly durable and can bear heavy loads.

• To make it last even longer, we’ve applied a resin-based coating that protects the surface from scratches, and also improves grip.

Flags were also installed at the community gatehouses and atop towers.

Turn on your ‘Vacation Mode’ If you’re heading out on holiday, we’ll be happy to keep an eye on your home – all you need to do is log into the Emaar One app (available on Play Store and App Store), select ‘Vacation Mode’, and enter the dates when you’ll be leaving and returning.

Here's what happens next • You will receive an email confirming your home details and the duration of your time away.

• The community manager and security team will be notified about your absence.

Directions: 1. Add coconut, jaggery, raw sugar and white granulated sugar in a saucepan and cook on medium low heat, stirring constantly.

Your karanjis are ready! Consume within 1-2 days, but they’re better when fresh.

Be a ‘paw’some neighbour Your pets are an extension of your family, and we share some guidelines to ensure you remain courteous of your neighbours, who might feel intimidated in the presence of animals.

Don’t enter an elevator that already has a resident inside, unless they assure you that they don’t mind the pet.

While dogs tend to sniff strangers due to their inquisitive nature, it can make some people uncomfortable.

Keep your pets on a short leash when close to other residents.

Always leash your dogs when at the common areas. Not having dogs on a leash is against the law, \MNHM NS[TQ[JX ąSJX WFSLNSL KWTR AED 10,000 – 100,000.

Always clean up after your pets – the waste harbours diseases and ruins the community’s landscaping.

Up close & personal with Rafick Meet your community’s electronics maestro, the man who ensures that all systems from the lighting to the elevators are always functioning without a hitch. We caught up with Mohamed Rafick from India, who has been your community’s BMS operator for over six months.

Why he loves it here: “I don’t meet the residents very often but I still see everyone smiling and there is a real positive atmosphere here, especially since my colleagues and supervisors are so supportive and encouraging.”

What a typical day is like: “I begin my day with prayers and a good meal before getting ready for work. After my shift I enjoy watching cricket – sometimes me and some friends go out and play a match.”

On his family back home: “I miss visiting my family in India, especially my mother who I have always been very close to. But I also feel that in a sense, Dubai is like my second home too!”

His ambitions and dreams: “I have big dreams of going far in my career, I know it takes hard work and I am ready to put in the effort – I hope to become a supervisor in the next two years, and an engineer in the next three years.”

What friends say about him: “Rafick is a very humble, down-to-earth person who never says no to someone in need of help. He has a very genuine and caring attitude that makes it easy to get along with him.”

THE HOME AID BOX Q. One of the electrical outlets in my unit is not working. How do I fix it?

1. Check if it is connected to a wall switch that may have not been turned on.

2. Once this is determined, inspect the circuit breakers and reset any that may have turned off.

3. A blown fuse may have also disrupted power to the outlet.

Do not attempt to insert any long artifacts into the outlet â&#x20AC;&#x201C; call a reliable electrician if you are unable to resolve the problem.

Garden fertilisation Mix your grounds with dead grass and leaves and spread them around plants like roses and camellias. The grounds also provide nitrogen, potassium and magnesium to the soil.

Flea repellent Rub coffee grounds into your dogâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s fur after its bath and rinse well for a natural flea repellent.

Kitchen stain remover Sprinkle grounds onto a cleaning cloth to scrub away dried food from dishes or counters. They are abrasive enough without being too harsh on your surfaces.

Fridge deodorizer Place an open bowl of grounds at the rear of your fridge and leave it there for a week or two. The grounds help absorb odours.

Hand scrub Keep a cup of grounds near your sink and rub a handful over your hands after chopping garlic, onions and other potent vegetables to rid your hands of their smell.
