VON ANTONIA GOLDHAMMER „Meine Mutter ist Pianistin. Mein Vater ist Geiger. Mein Bruder ist Geiger, meine Schwester ist Geigerin, und auch ich habe einst Geige gelernt.“ Doch es kam ein Sommer, in dem das Leben von Vivi Vassileva eine Wendung nahm. Am Schwarzen Meer, unweit des Hauses, das ihre Eltern in Bulgarien besitzen, liegt fernab aller Touristenpfade ein wilder Strand. Schon lange hatte Vivi dort Musiker beobachtet, die auf Handtrommeln spielten, und endlich fasste sie den Mut, und fragte, ob sie auch mal trommeln dürfe. So begann es. Und obwohl sie nie bereut hat, von der Geige zum Schlagwerk gewechselt zu haben, blieb eine Sehnsucht – die danach, Melodien zu spielen. Auf diesem Album zeigt Vivi Vassileva, dass das auf dem Schlagzeug auch möglich ist: „Ich will mit Musik Geschichten erzählen – mit klassischer Musik aus ansprechenden Harmonien und Melodien, mit Werken, denen ich persönlich verbunden bin.“ Guillo Espel – Zamba Para Escuchar Tu Silencio Ein intimes Stück für stille Momente allein, wörtlich übersetzt, „Eine Zamba, mit der du deiner inneren Stille lauschen kannst“. Die Zamba, nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Samba, ist ein Tanz aus der Gaucho-Kultur in Argentinien und Südbrasilien. „Unser Gitarrist entstammt dieser Kultur, er trinkt den ganzen Tag Mate-Tee, und ist mit der traditionellen Gaucho-Musik aufgewachsen. Durch ihn habe ich gelernt, einen authentischen Zugang zur Zamba bekommen. Mit der Interpretation eines Stückes aus einer bestimmten Kultur verhält es sich wie mit dem Lernen einer Sprache: viel wichtiger als die Theorie ist es, die Betonung, den Akzent und die Sprachmelodie zu erspüren.“ Eric Sammut – Sailing for Phil Mit Sailing for Phil gelingt Eric Sammut ein meisterhafter Brückenschlag: er legt ein klassisch aufgebautes, virtuoses Konzert in drei Sätzen vor, in dem er verschiedene kulturelle Einflüsse verschmilzt. Während die ersten beiden Sätze von der Herkunft des Vibraphons aus dem Jazz zeugen, ist der dritte Satz südamerikanisch geprägt. Diesen Brückenschlag 8

Marco Pereira – Bate Coxa Bei „Bate Coxa“ (zu Deutsch: „klatschende Schenkel“) handelt es sich im Ursprung um einen Paartanz, der so eng geführt wird, dass sich die Oberschenkel der Tanzpartner an den Innenseiten berühren. Dieses „Aneinanderklatschen“ klingt hier zwischen den Noten an. Der Rhythmus, ein Baião, stammt aus den Forró-Volkstänzen im Nordosten Brasiliens. Die traditionelle Volksmusik ist seit jeher eine Inspirationsquelle für Komponisten, und Vivi Vassileva ist es ein Anliegen, sich auf diese Ursprünge der Musik zurückzubesinnen.

Grigoras Dinicu – Hora Staccato „Dieses Stück bündelt drei persönliche und sehr prägende Erfahrungen meiner Kindheit: die Geigenmusik zu Hause, meine Wurzeln im Balkan und die Tänze unserer Familienfeiern.“ Das Werk basiert auf den Hora, den Reigentänzen der Balkanstaaten und wurde hier mit Gitarre und Vibraphon aufgenommen. Auf dem Vibraphon kommt das Staccato hervorragend zur Geltung und die Gitarre erinnert mit authentischem Klang an die Roma-Wurzeln des Komponisten.

Oriol Cruixent – Marimba Moksha Der Wunsch, solche Harmonien zu spielen, die sie als Kind auf der Geige lieben gelernt hatte, erfüllte sich für Vivi Vassileva in ihren ersten Jahren als Marimbaspielerin eher selten. Das damals zur Verfügung stehende Repertoire verstand die Marimba meist als Schlagzeuginstrument und fokussierte den Rhythmus. Daher bat Vivi Oriol Cruixent um eine Komposition, die das Potenzial der Marimba als Musikinstrument ausschöpft. So entstand dieses wunderschöne Divertimento. Der Ausgangspunkt für jedes Werk des spirituellen Komponisten ist eine tiefgründige Erzählung: „Moksha“ ist Sanskrit und bezeichnet den Zustand der Befreiung aus dem Kreislauf der Wiedergeburten im Hinduismus.

Keiko Abe – Variations on Dowland's Lachrimae Pavane Keiko Abe aus Japan ist die wohl bedeutendste Marimbaspielerin und -komponistin der Gegenwart. Das Stück basiert auf einem bekannten Lauten-Thema von John Dowland. Hier schafft sie es, in allen Lagen spezifische Marimba-Klänge zu entfalten, jede Variation zeigt so ungeahnte neue Facetten der einzigartigen Klangwelt der Marimba.

unternimmt programmatisch auch dieses Album: zu zeigen, dass das universell in allen Kulturen vertretene Schlagzeug das Potential hat, das klassische Instrument des 21. Jahrhunderts zu werden.

Vivi Vassileva – Kalino Mome Das Stück zeichnet sich durch die Kombination unterschiedlicher Schlagwerkinstrumente aus und vereint so verschiedene Klänge und Klangfarben. Vivi Vassileva spielt 13 verschiedene Schlaginstrumente, lässt sie zu einem einzigen großen Klangapparat verschmelzen und schöpft durch diese Kombination die unendlichen Klang- und Kontrastmöglichkeiten des Schlagzeuges voll aus. „Beim allerersten Hören dieses bulgarischen Volkliedes, das ein Frauen-Quartett sang, klang mir sofort die Schlagzeugfassung im Ohr: Das Lied hat einen mitreißenden, typisch bulgarischen 11/8-Takt, außerdem wird in Quarten und Quinten gesungen, die auf der Marimba genial klingen. Ich habe versucht, möglichst authentisch zu bleiben: Der schnell eingestellte Motor des Vibraphons und der hohe Klang des Glockenspiels etwa soll die Stimmen der Sängerinnen imitieren, die Tom-Toms den bulgarischen Tupan, und die Darbuka spiele ich wie in der traditionellen Musik mit der Hand.“ Vivi Vassileva + Lucas Campara Diniz – Pipero Misturado Einem Straßenkünstler in Rio, der Vivi und Lucas Gedichte verkaufen wollte, verdanken die beiden den Titel ihrer Komposition. Gemäß ihrer Herkunft finden sich hier brasilianische Harmonien und bulgarische Rhythmen. Und so stieß man gemeinsam mit dem Künstler auf den Titel: „Pipero“ heißt auf Bulgarisch „Pfeffer“ und „misturado“ auf Portugiesisch „gemischt“. „Für mich ist es das Schlüsselstück: es vereint Klassik, Jazz und Volksmusik.

Ich hatte beim Schreiben Bilder aus Märchenbüchern vor Augen. Das Intro ist z.B. inspiriert von 1001 Nacht. Ich habe als Kind unglaublich viel Märchen gelesen und selber Geschichten geschrieben. In „Pipero Misturado“ schlummern viele verschiedene – und jeder soll beim Zuhören seine eigene finden.“ Oriol Cruixent – El Parío „El Parío“ ist die katalanische Bezeichnung für ein Kind, das unter einem guten Stern geboren wurde, ein Sonntagskind. Der langsame einleitende Teil erinnert an ein Wiegenlied, bevor das Stück an Dynamik und Rhythmik gewinnt. „Ich liebe dieses Stück, denn es erlaubt einem, auf dem Vibraphon zu singen. Und so eine Gelegenheit könnte ich mir nie entgehen lassen.“

1994 in Hof geboren, erhielt Vivi Vassileva 2004 ersten Schlagzeugunterricht bei Claudio Estay.

Mit 13 Jahren gewann sie den ersten Preis bei „Jugend Musiziert“ und wurde jüngstes Mitglied im Bundesjugendorchester. Mit 16 Jahren studierte sie bei Prof. Peter Sadlo an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, 2016 schloss sie ihren Bachelor bei Prof. Peter Sadlo und Prof. Raymond Curfs ab. Seit Herbst 2018 belegt sie einen Masterstudiengang bei Prof. Martin Grubinger am Mozarteum Salzburg.

Vivi Vassileva ist Preisträgerin zahlreicher internationaler Wettbewerbe wie etwa des „Marimba Mania“ 2009 in Paris oder des „Marimba Festiva“ 2010 in Nürnberg und erhielt mehrere Sonderpreise, u.a. beim ARD Musikwettbewerb 2014 in München. Ihr erstes Orchesterdebüt gab sie mit 13 Jahren bei den Hofer Symphonikern. Als Solopaukerin spielte sie mit den Mannheimer Philharmonikern 2011 während einer China-Tournee. Solorecitals und Solokonzerte führten sie zum Apollonia Festival in Sozopol, Bulgarien, nach Castellón, Spanien, sowie zum Samos Young Artists Festival, nach Bamberg und in die Philharmonie am Gasteig in München. 2018 spielte sie beim LvivMozArt Festival in der Ukraine Tan Duns „The Tears of Nature“ unter der Leitung von Oksana Lyniv; sie trat beim Rheingau Musik Festival, dem Hohenloher Kultursommer sowie bei den Europäischen Wochen in Passau auf. 2019 folgt ihr Debüt in der Berliner Philharmonie mit ihrem Schlagzeugquartett. Im Mai wird sie das ihr gewidmete Schlagzeugkonzert „Oraculum“ von Oriol Cruixent mit dem Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal unter der Leitung von Julia Jones zur Uraufführung bringen.

VIVI VASSILEVA QUINTETT Das 2015 von Vivi Vassileva gegründete Quintett setzt sich aus ehemaligen Studenten der Münchner Musikhochschule zusammen. Maruan Sakas ist als Pianist, Komponist, Arrangeur und Hochschullehrer sowohl in der Klassik als auch im Jazz zu Hause, was sich in seinem breit gefächerten Tätigkeitsfeld widerspiegelt. Der Kontrabassist Thomas Ganzenmüller erhielt eine Klassik- und Jazz-Ausbildung. Konzerte und Reisen mit zahlreichen Ensembles formen sein vielseitiges Profil. Maxime Pidoux ist als Schlagzeuger im Bayerischen Staatsorchester engagiert.

Der gebürtige Pariser konzertierte mit dem Konzerthausorchester Berlin, dem Orchestre de Paris und arbeitete mit Dirigenten wie Iván Fischer und Paavo Järvi. Daniel Martinez studierte mit 12 Jahren am Konservatorium in Caracas und spielte im Simón Bolivar Orchester unter Gustavo Dudamel und Claudio Abbado. 2013 kam er zum Studium nach Deutschland und wurde Akademist beim Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, gefolgt von einem Engagement als Solopauker an der Mailänder Scala.

LUCAS CAMPARA DINIZ

GITARRE

1992 in Santa Maria, Brasilien, geboren studierte Lucas Campara Diniz an der Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. 2013 gewann er den 1. Preis beim Av Rio Gitarrenwettbewerb, beim Sebastian Benda Musikwettbewerb sowie beim internationalen Gitarrenwettbewerb Fred Schneider und spielte auf einer Tournee des Festival Entrecuerdas in Chile. 2015 zog er nach Deutschland, um sein Studium an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München fortzusetzen. Neben Konzerten im Solo- und Kammermusikbereich widmet er sich auch dem Komponieren und ist Mitglied des Passo Avanti Quartetts.

BY ANTONIA GOLDHAMMER "My mother is a pianist, my father a violinist. My brother is a violinist, and so is my sister, and I once learned violin too."

But one summer Vivi Vassileva's life took a turn in a new direction. The house in Bulgaria that belongs to her parents is located near an unspoiled beach on the Black Sea, far from the trodden tourist paths. For a long time Vivi had observed musicians there who played on hand drums, and one day she plucked up courage and asked if she could try drumming. And that's how it all began.

And although she never regretted giving up the violin for percussion, there remained a yearning in her – to play melodies. On this album Vivi Vassileva proves that this is possible on percussion: "I want to tell stories through music – through classical music involving appealing harmonies and melodies, through works that I connect with personally."

Zamba Para Escuchar Tu Silencio. "A zamba to hear your silence to" is an intimate piece for those quiet moments alone. The zamba, not to be confused with the samba, is a dance from Argentinian and southern Brazilian gaucho culture. "Our guitarist is from that culture, he drinks mate tea all day and he grew up with the traditional gaucho music. Thanks to him I learned the authentic way to access zamba. Interpreting a piece of music from a specific culture is like learning a language: it is much more important to grasp the emphasis, the accent and the intonation than learning the theory."

With Sailing for Phil Eric Sammut has succeeded in building a magnificent symbolic bridge: he has produced a classically formed, virtuoso concerto in three movements by blending various different cultural influences. While the first two movements exhibit thei origins of the vibraphone in jazz music, the third movement has South American character. This bridge-building ties in with the 14

Bate Coxa (meaning "clapping thighs") was originally a dance for a couple who dance so closely together that their inner thighs touch. That friction of the thighs can be heard between notes. The rhythm, a baião, originates from the forró folk dances in north-eastern Brazil. Traditional folk music has always been a source of inspiration for composers, and Vivi Vassileva believes in returning to the roots of music.

Hora Staccato brings together three personal and highly formative experiences from my childhood: the violin music at home, my roots in the Balkans and the dances at our family celebrations." The work is based on the hora, the round dances of the Balkans, and was recorded here with guitar and vibraphone. The vibraphone brings out the staccato in a really convincing way and the guitar has the authentic sound reminiscent of the composer's Roma roots.

In the early days as a marimba player, Vivi Vassileva could rarely fulfil her hopes of playing the harmonies she had learned as a child on her instrument. The repertoire available to her then nearly always placed the marimba as a percussion instrument and focused on the rhythm. That is why Vivi asked Oriol Cruixent for a composition – Marimba Moksha – which would take full advantage of the marimba's potential as a music instrument. The result was this lovely divertimento. The starting point for all of this spiritual composer's works is a profound story: "Moksha" is Sanskrit and describes the sense of liberation from the cycle of reincarnation in Hinduism.

Keiko Abe from Japan is probably the most significant marimba player and composer of the present day. Her piece is based on a well known lute theme by John Dowland, the Lachrimae Pavane.

She succeeds in all registers in deploying true marimba sounds, resulting in a set of variations, each of which reveals formerly unimagined new facets of the unique sound world of the marimba.

different sounds and timbres in just one piece. Vivi Vassileva plays 13 different instruments, blending them into one big tonal device, thereby exploiting to the full the contrasting sounds and endless possibilities of percussion.

"The first time I ever heard this Bulgarian folk song, performed by a female quartet, I could immediately hear a percussion version forming in my inner ear: the song has an intoxicating, typically Bulgarian 11/8 beat, and is sung in fourths and fifths, which sound absolutely brilliant on the marimba. I tried to remain as authentic as possible: the vibraphone drive, quickly adjusted, and the high tone of the glockenspiel, for instance, are meant to imitate the singers, the tom-toms the Bulgarian tupan, and I play the darbuka by hand, as in traditional music."

Vivi and Lucas owe the title of their composition to a street musician in Rio who wanted to sell them poems. In keeping with their origins, this is a blend of Brazilian harmonies and Bulgarian rhythms. Together with the artist, they combined "Pipero" (Bulgarian for pepper) and "misturado" which means mixed in Portuguese. "For me, this is the keystone: it combines classical, jazz and folk music. While I was writing it I had images from fairy-tale books before my mind's eye. The intro, for example, is inspired by '1001 Nights'. I read so many fairy stories when I was a child, and wrote some of my own. There are many just under the surface of Pipero Misturado – and everyone can find their own when they listen."

El ParĂ­o is Catalan for a child born under a good star, Sunday's child. The slow introducĂ­ion is reminiscent of a lullaby, before the piece gains in dynamics and rhythm. "I love this piece because it allows me to sing on the vibraphone, and I could never pass up an opportunity like that."

Born in Hof (Bavaria) in 1994, Vivi Vassileva began taking professional percussion lessons with Claudio Estay in 2004. She won first prize at the Jugend Musiziert Competition at 13 and that year became the youngest member of the German Youth Orchestra. At 16 she began studying with Prof.

Peter Sadlo at the College for Music and Drama in Munich, graduating Bachelor in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Peter Sadlo and Prof. Raymond Curfs. In autumn 2018 she began her Masters with Prof. Martin Grubinger at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Vivi Vassileva has won numerous prizes at international competitions such as Marimba Mania in Paris in 2009 and Marimba Festiva in NĂźrnberg in 2010; she is the holder of many special prizes, including one from the ARD Music Competition in 2014 in Munich. She made her first orchestral debut at the age of 13 with the Hof Symphony. As a solo percussionist she has performed with the Mannheim Philharmonic in 2011, during a tour of China. Solo recitals and solo concerts have taken her to the Apollonia Festival in Sozopol in Bulgaria, to CastellĂłn in Spain as well as to the Samos Young Artists Festival and to Bamberg or Munich in Germany. In 2018 she played Tan Dun's "The Tears of Nature" under the baton of Oksana Lyniv at the LvivMozArt Festival in Ukraine; she also appeared at the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Hohenlohe Summer Festival and at the European Weeks festival in Passau. 2019 will see her debut at the Berlin Philharmonie with her percussion quartet. VIVI VASSILEVA QUINTET The quartet founded in 2015 by Vivi Vassileva comprises former students from the Munich College of Music. Maruan Sakas is pianist, composer, arranger and university lecturer and is equally at home in the field of classical music and jazz. He performs as a soloist and in numerous chamber music formations. Double bass player Thomas Ganzenmüller studied classical and jazz music. He tours and gives concerts with numerous ensembles. Maxime Pidoux has a contract as a percussionist with the Bavarian State Opera. Born in Paris he played concerts with the Konzerthaus Orchestra in Berlin and with the Orchestre de Paris and has worked with conductors such as Iván Fischer and Paavo Järvi. Daniel Martinez started studying at the Conservatory in Caracas at the age of 12 and played in the Simón Bolivar Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel and Claudio Abbado. In 2013 he came to study in Germany and became junior member with the Symphony Orchestra of Bavarian Radio, followed by an engagement as solo percussionist at La Scala in Milan.

« Ma mère est pianiste. Mon père est violoniste. Mon frère est violoniste, ma sœur est violoniste, et moi aussi, j’ai commencé autrefois par apprendre le violon. » Pourtant, un été, la vie de Vivi Vassileva changea. Au bord de la mer Noire, non loin de la maison que ses parents possédaient en Bulgarie, se trouve une plage sauvage, à l’écart des chemins fréquentés par les touristes. Vivi avait observé depuis longtemps que des musiciens venaient y jouer des instruments à percussion. Un beau jour, elle osa leur demander si elle pouvait essayer de jouer de ces instruments. C’est ainsi que tout commença. Et bien qu’elle n’ait jamais regretté d’être passée du violon aux percussions, il lui est resté une nostalgie – celle de jouer de la musique mélodique. Sur cet enregistrement, Vivi Vassileva montre qu’il est possible de le faire avec des instruments à percussion : « Je veux raconter des histoires avec la musique – avec de la musique classique, faite d’harmonies et de mélodies séduisantes, avec des œuvres auxquelles je suis personnellement attachée ».

Guillo Espel – Zamba Para Escuchar Tu Silencio Une pièce intime, faite seulement pour des moments de silence, mot à mot : « Une zamba pour écouter ton silence intérieur ». La zamba, qu’il ne faut pas confondre avec la samba, est une danse de la culture gaucho d’Argentine et du Sud du Brésil. « Notre guitariste est issu de cette culture, il boit du thé au maté toute la journée et a grandi avec la musique traditionnelle des gauchos. C’est grâce à lui que j’ai appris à avoir une approche authentique de la zamba. Interpréter une pièce venant d’une culture particulière, c’est comme apprendre une langue : ce qui compte, bien plus que la théorie, c’est de sentir l’accent, la mélodie et les accentuations de la langue ».

Eric Sammut – Sailing for Phil Avec « Sailing for Phil », Eric Sammut est parvenu de façon magistrale à créer un pont entre différentes musiques : il nous offre un concerto virtuose, d’une structure classique en trois mouvements, dans lequel il fait fusionner plusieurs influences culturelles.

Si les deux premiers mouvements rappellent que le vibraphone était à l’origine un instrument de 20

jazz, le troisième mouvement, lui, est de caractère latino-américain. Ce pont reflète également l’intention de ce disque, car les instruments à percussion, que l’on retrouve dans toutes les cultures, sont considérées comme l’instrument classique du XXIe siècle.

Grigoras Dinicu – Hora Staccato « Cette pièce rassemble trois expériences personnelles qui ont beaucoup marqué mon enfance : la musique pour violon que l’on jouait à la maison, mes racines balkaniques et les danses de nos vacances familiales ». Cette œuvre repose sur une hora, ronde dansée dans les Balkans. Elle est interprétée ici à la guitare et au vibraphone. Sur ce dernier instrument, le staccato ressort remarquablement bien et la sonorité authentique de la guitare rappelle les racines tsiganes du compositeur.

Oriol Cruixent – Marimba Moksha Pendant les premières années où elle a joué du marimba, Vivi Vassileva n’a guère pu réaliser son souhait de retrouver sur cet instrument les harmonies qu’elle aimait depuis son enfance. Le répertoire existant alors ne considérait en général le marimba que comme un instrument à percussion et plaçait le rythme au premier plan. Aussi Vivi a-t-elle demandé à Oriol Cruixent de composer une pièce qui exploitât tout le potentiel du marimba comme instrument de musique. Ainsi est né ce magnifique divertimento. Toutes les œuvres de ce compositeur spirituel ont pour point de départ un récit chargé de sens : « Moksha » est un mot sanscrit qui désigne l’état de libération du cycle des renaissances dans l’hindouisme.

Keiko Abe – Variations on Dowland’s Lachrimae Pavane La Japonaise Keiko Abe est sans doute à l’heure actuelle la plus importante joueuse de marimba et compositrice d’œuvres pour cet instrument. Cette pièce repose sur un célèbre thème pour luth de John Dowland. Elle parvient à 21

Marco Pereira – Bate Coxa « Bate Coxa » (en français : « tape-cuisse ») est à l’origine une danse qui se danse à deux de manière si étroite que la face intérieure de la cuisse des deux partenaires se touche.

Cette façon de « se taper » se fait entendre ici entre les notes. Le rythme, un baião, vient du forró, danse populaire du Nord-Est du Brésil. La musique populaire traditionnelle a toujours été une source d’inspiration pour les compositeurs, et Vivi Vassileva prend à cœur de revenir à ces origines musicales.

Vivi Vassileva – Kalino Mome Cette pièce se caractérise par la combinaison de différents instruments à percussion, réunissant ainsi en un seul morceau plusieurs timbres et sonorités. Vivi Vassileva joue ici de treize percussions différentes, qu’elle fait fusionner en un seul grand corps sonore. Cette combinaison lui permet d’exploiter pleinement les infinies possibilités de sonorités et de contrastes des percussions. « Lorsque j’ai entendu pour la première fois cette chanson populaire bulgare, chantée par un quatuor de femmes, j’ai aussitôt entendu dans ma tête la version pour percussion : cette chanson a en effet un rythme typiquement bulgare à 11/8, très entraînant, et procède par intervalles de quartes et de quintes qui sonnent magnifiquement sur le marimba. Je me suis efforcée de rester le plus authentique possible : le moteur du vibraphone, que l’on peut régler rapidement, et la sonorité aiguë du glockenspiel, par exemple, sont imitent les voix des chanteuses, les tam-tams, le tupan bulgare, et je joue la darbuka avec la main, comme dans la musique traditionnelle ».

Vivi Vassileva + Lucas Campara Diniz – Pipero Misturado Le titre de cette pièce a été inspiré à ses deux auteurs par un artiste de rue de Rio qui voulait vendre des poèmes à Vivi et Lucas.

Conformément à leurs origines respectives, on retrouve ici des harmonies brésiliennes et des rythmes bulgares. C’est ainsi qu'ils ont eu l’idée du titre avec l’artiste de rue : « pipero » signifie « poivre » en bulgare et « misturado », « mélangé » en portugais. « Pour moi, cette pièce joue un rôle central : elle associe la musique classique, le jazz et la musique populaire. En écrivant, j’avais en tête des images tirées de contes de fées. L’introduction, par exemple, s’inspire des Mille et Une Nuits. Enfant, j’ai lu une quantité incroyable de contes de fées et j’écrivais moi-même des histoires. Dans “Pipero Misturado” sommeillent beaucoup d’histoires différentes – chacun doit trouver la sienne en l’écoutant ».

Oriol Cruixent – El Parío « El Parío » est le terme catalan qui désigne un enfant né sous une bonne étoile, un enfant chanceux. La lente partie introductive rappelle une berceuse, après quoi la pièce gagne en dynamique et en rythme. « J’adore cette pièce parce qu’elle permet de chanter avec le vibraphone. Et il n’est pas question que je laisse passer une occasion de ce genre ».

VIVI VASSILEVA

MARIMBA, VIBRAPHONE, PERCUSSION

Vivi Vassileva a remporté de nombreux concours internationaux comme le Marimba Mania à Paris en 2009 ou le Marimba Festiva de Nuremberg en 2010. Elle a reçu plusieurs prix spéciaux, notamment lors du Concours de musique de l’ARD à Munich en 2014. Elle a fait ses débuts avec un orchestre à treize ans, avec l’orchestre symphonique de Hof. Elle a joué comme timbalière solo avec l’Orchestre philharmonique de Mannheim en 2011 lors d’une tournée en Chine. Elle a donné des récitals et des concerts en solistes au Festival Apollonia de Sozopol (Bulgarie), à Castellón (Espagne) ainsi qu’au Samos Young Artists Festival, à Bamberg et dans la salle de la Philharmonie du Gasteig de Munich. En 2018, elle a joué, au LvivMozArt Festival (Ukraine) The Tears of Nature, concerto pour percussions de Tan Dun, sous la direction d’Oksana Lyniv. Elle s’est également produite au Rheingau Musik Festival, au Hohenloher Kultursommer ainsi qu’aux Europäische Wochen de Passau. En 2019, elle jouera pour la première fois avec son quatuor de percussions dans la salle de la Philharmonie de Berlin. En mai, elle créera Oraculum d’Oriol Cruixent, concerto pour percussions qui lui est dédié, avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Wuppertal sous la direction de Julia Jones.

Née en 1994 à Hof, Vivi Vassileva a commencé à prendre des cours de percussion en 2004 avec Claudio Estay. À treize ans, elle a remporté le premier prix au concours « Jugend musiziert » avant de devenir le plus jeune membre du Bundesjugendorchester, orchestre allemand de jeunes musiciens. À seize ans, elle a commencé à étudier avec le professeur Peter Sadlo au Conservatoire supérieur de musique et de théâtre de Munich. Elle y a passé son bachelor en 2016, sous la direction des professeurs Peter Sadlo et Raymond Curfs. Depuis l’automne 2018, elle suit un master auprès du professeur Martin Grubinger au Mozarteum de Salzbourg.

VIVI VASSILEVA QUINTETT Fondé en 2015 par Vivi Vassileva, ce quintette est composé d’anciens étudiants du Conservatoire supérieur de musique de Munich. Pianiste, compositeur, arrangeur et professeur au conservatoire, Maruan Sakas est aussi familier de la musique classique que du jazz, comme on le voit à son champ d’activités très étendu. Le contrebassiste Thomas Ganzenmüller a reçu une formation en musique classique et en jazz. Son profil polyvalent s’exprime par ses concerts et ses tournées avec de nombreux ensembles. Maxime Pidoux est percussionniste à l’Orchestre de l’opéra d’État de Bavière. Né à Paris, il a donné des concerts avec l’Orchestre du Konzerthaus de Berlin et l’Orchestre de Paris et a travaillé avec des chefs d’orchestre comme Iván Fischer et Paavo Järvi.

Daniel Martinez a étudié dès l’âge de douze ans au Conservatoire de Caracas et a joué dans l’Orchestre Simón Bolivar sous la direction de Gustavo Dudamel et de Claudio Abbado. En 2013, il est venu étudier en Allemagne et est devenu membre de l’Académie des jeunes de l’Orchestre symphonique de la radio bavaroise, avant d’être nommé timbalier solo à l’orchestre de la Scala de Milan.

LUCAS CAMPARA DINIZ

GUITARE

Né en 1992 à Santa Maria, au Brésil, Lucas Campara Diniz a étudié à l’Université fédérale de Rio de Janeiro. En 2013, il a remporté le premier prix au Concours de guitare Av Rio, au Concours de Musique Sebastian Benda et au Concours international de guitare Fred Schneider. Il a participé à une tournée du Festival Entrecuerdas au Chili. En 2015, il s’est installé en Allemagne pour poursuivre ses études au Conservatoire supérieur de musique et de théâtre de Munich. En plus des concerts qu’il donne en tant que soliste et en formation de musique de chambre, il se consacre également à la composition et est membre du Passo Avanti Quartet.
