HIDTA Arresta a Dos en Redada en La Casita Dina García-Peña, La Casita

Una pareja identificada como Mauro Montalvo y Zulema Morales fueron arrestados el mes pasado en un caso relacionado con drogas que continúa bajo investigación.

El viernes 19 de marzo de 2021, la Fuerza de Tarea “HIDTA” del Área de Tráfico de Drogas de Alta Intensidad del Condado de Starr, ejecutó una orden de registro en 49 Montalvo Hill, en la Comunidad de La Casita, Condado de Starr, Texas. Como resultado del registro, los investigadores recuperaron 3 armas, 261 gramos de cocaína y 57 libras de marihuana.

Zulema Morales fue acusada de posesión de marihuana y posesión de sustancia controlada. Mauro Montalvo posesión de marihuana, posesión de sustancia controlada y posesión de arma de fuego por un delincuente.

Ambos han sido puestos en libertad bajo fianza a la espera del proceso judicial.

Accidente Donde Murió un hombre de Roma Sigue Bajo investigación Dina García-Peña, San Juan

El Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Texas continúa investigando el accidente automovilístico donde murió Fidel Vielma, de 24 años, de Roma. Alrededor de las 10 de la mañana del sábado, Vielma conducía una GMC Sierra negra en Juan Balli Road. Junto a él había una pasajera cuya identidad no ha sido revelada. Ella sobrevivió y a partir de este fin de semana se estaba recuperando en un hospital del área. Se dice que Vielma perdió el control de la camioneta y chocó contra un poste de luz antes de dar varias volteretas. La agencia continúa investigando si el alcohol o la velocidad fueron factores.

Editorial Quizás no siempre estuve de acuerdo con las acciones del administrador de la ciudad del rio, pero, así como cuando insultan a tu hermano, cuando insultan uno de los de nuestro condado como que me da por defender. Así que se me hizo un poco tarde por andar en otros condados. Lo bueno es que le dieron el trabajo y claro que es momento de celebrar. Siguiendo con el tema de celebrar, estamos mas que contentos al ver el crecimiento de nuestros clientes. Así que felicidades a nuestro amigo el abogado.

En cuanto la política que les puedo contar. Las próximas elecciones en el este no pinta mucho drama así que ni como saber de que lado se va a ladear los votantes.

A nivel del condado parece que un lado mira el otro grupo sin líder. ¿No se puede negar que el arbolito dejo unos zapatos muy grandes por llenar y la pregunta es quien los podrá llenar?

Donde antes se crea que el liderazgo podría venir del hermano mayor del lado este, ahorita parece ser mas complicado. Esto porque las malas lenguas dicen que posiblemente hizo las pases.

Aquí eso no se puedo confirmar porque, para los que están con el pendiente, aun estamos como dos tumbas.

Lo que aumenta a lo complicado del asunto son las inicias de un partido conservador con candidatos locales. Con los resultados que tuvimos durante las elecciones presidenciales.

En cuanto las vacunas parece ser que la que se creer dueña de ellas ya esta dando oportunidad a los que no son sus amistades.

Así que tal vez podamos salvarnos algunos de nosotros que no somos de su agrado.

Astutos amigos que hay que recordar todos estos detalles cuando vamos a marcar la boleta.

Man Arrested on Small Drug Charge Dina Garcia-Peña, La Casita

A man in his early 60s was arrested on March 30th for a drug charge. Richard Colvin responded to HIDTA investigators asking if he had drugs by pulling out a plastic bottle with several baggies.

Investigators with the Starr County HIDTA Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Montalvo Hill Road by Old Casita Road, Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas. The driver, later identified as Richard Colvin, was asked if he had any drugs or weapons on his person, to which Richard Colvin responded by removing a plastic bottle with several baggies of a white powdery substance weighing two grams from his pockets which is believed to be cocaine. He was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a 3rd Degree Felony. The matter will be prosecuted by the 229th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Las autoridades han aumentado la recompensa por cualquier información que les ayude a localizar a José Fernando Bustos-Díaz.

El 6 de abril de 2010 Díaz escapó de la Unidad Briscoe de TDCJ en Dilley, Texas, ubicada en el condado de Frio, aproximadamente a 70 millas al suroeste de San Antonio, donde cumplía una condena de 35 años. Su sentencia fue por el asesinato de Deborah Gail Kay en 2005. Bustos-Díaz escapó con otro recluso identificado como Octavio Ramos López. En 2011 López fue encontrado en un apartamento de McAllen junto con 150 libras de cocaína. Hasta la fecha Bustos -Díaz sigue prófugo pero podría estar viviendo en México.

Agentes de la Policía Municipal de Río Grande detuvieron a Abel Barrera como resultado de una redada. Viernes 26 de marzo de 2021 se ejecutó una orden de cateo en San Seferino San Abel Barrera (46) fue detenido y acusado de fabricación y entrega de una sustancia controlada PG1 > 4G-200G.

Newly Rehired RGCCISD Arrested Dina Garcia-Peña, Starr County

Ricardo Lopez Jr. was arrested last night on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

López was recently rehired by the Rio Grande City CISD as part of a settlement in a wrongful termination lawsuit against the district.

Ricardo Lopez Jr. is currently under a deferred judgement as part of his guilty plea on a charge of offering gift to a public servant. The term was for two years starting in November of 2020. That charge comes from his failed attempted to bribe 381st Judge José Luis Garza to lower the bond of a person accused of murder.

It’s not immediately what the consequences could be if he is found guilty of this new charge.

DPS Trooper Dies in Line of Duty Shooting Dina Garcia-Peña Limestone County

It is with great sadness the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces the death of a Highway Patrol Trooper following a shooting incident in Limestone County.

Trooper Chad Walker, 38, was stopping to assist a driver near Mexia, Texas, around 7:45 p.m.

Friday, March 26, when he was shot multiple times. Trooper Walker was transported to Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, where he later died from his injuries.

“Our DPS family is absolutely heartbroken at the loss of one of our brothers in uniform who was killed in the line of duty,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw. “Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Walker was committed to protecting the people of Texas.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we ask that you keep his family, friends and colleagues in your prayers during the difficult days ahead.” Trooper Walker was a loving husband and father to four children. He is a second generation peace officer. His career in law enforcement began in 2003 with the Groesbeck Police Department and continued as a member of the Athens Police Department, Henderson Co. Sheriff’s Office and Limestone Co. Sheriff’s Office. Trooper Walker joined DPS in 2015 and was stationed in Groesbeck. He is the 223rd DPS officer to die in the line of duty since 1823.

In his final lifesaving act, Trooper Walker’s organs were donated to save others. Funeral services for Trooper Walker are still pending at this time.

Rio Grande City police officers arrested Abel Barrera as a result of a raid.

Friday March 26, 2021 a search warrant was executed on San Seferino St. Abel Barrera (46) was arrested and charged with Manufacture & Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1 > 4G-200G.

Increased Reward Up to $6,000 Dina Garcia-Peña, Texas

Authorities have increased the reward for any information that help them locate José Fernando Bustos-Díaz.

On April 6, 2010 Diaz escaped from TDCJ Briscoe Unit in Dilley, Texas, located in Frio County approximately 70 miles southwest of San Antonio where he was serving a 35 year sentence. His sentence was for the 2005 murder of Deborah Gail Kay. Bustos-Díaz escaped with another inmate identified as Octavio Ramos Lopez. In 2011 Lopez was found in a McAllen

apartment along with 150 pounds of cocaine.

To date Bustos -Díaz remains on the run but could be living in Mexico.

Hombre Arrestado por Agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza Incautan más de Contrabando el Día Después del Arresto por 800 libras de Marihuana DWI Dina García Peña,Starr

En unas horas, los agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza de la ciudad de Rio Grande (RGC) incautaron más de $ 660K en marihuana en dos intentos fallidos de contrabando de narcóticos.

Anoche, agentes de RGC que trabajaban cerca de Salineno, Texas, observaron a varios sujetos que se dirigían hacia el norte desde el Río Grande con bultos de presuntos narcóticos. Cuando los agentes respondieron al lugar, descubrieron los bultos abandonados y algunos de los presuntos contrabandistas fueron vistos nadando hacia México. Después de una búsqueda en el área, se encontró a un sujeto escondido cerca. Los agentes detuvieron al individuo.

La marihuana incautada pesaba más de 360 libras y tiene un valor estimado de $ 293K. El sospechoso y los narcóticos fueron entregados a la Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Starr.

La madrugada del martes se registró una fuerte movilización policiaca al reportar una persecución que terminó en un accidente justo en la plaza Guadalupe de la ciudad de Roma.

Autoridades del DPS le marcaron el alto a un vehículo Ford Fusión el cual no obedeció la orden y emprendió la huida rumbo al Oeste de la carretera 83. En la pronunciada curva de la calle Méndez el sospechoso perdió el control de la unidad para terminar chocando contra el

Ricardo López Jr. fue arrestado anoche bajo el cargo de conducir en estado de ebriedad.

López fue contratado recientemente por el CISD de la ciudad de Rio Grande como parte de un acuerdo en una demanda por despido injustificado contra el distrito.

James Matley, que figura como residente de San Antonio, enfrenta un cargo federal por su participación en un caso de tráfico de personas. Su arresto federal se produjo horas después de ser liberado de la cárcel del condado de Starr por un arresto por DWI. Matley fue arrestado por primera vez por el Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Texas alrededor de las 7:40 am el 30 de marzo por el delito de DWI. Una denuncia penal en su contra afirma a las 4:30 pm que fue visto SH 16 en una Dodge Ram plateada. El agente de la Patrulla Fronteriza describe al hombre como un conocido explorador de operaciones de contrabando. Un SUV blanco fue visto casi al mismo tiempo conduciendo a alta velocidad y un agente condujo en esa dirección para investigar.

Al mismo tiempo, Matley fue detenido cuando el agente lo notó desviándose erráticamente. Cuando se le preguntó por qué se estaba desviando, Matley simplemente se rió entre dientes. Aunque los asientos parecían estar llenos de suciedad y había un olor a orden de la carrocería proveniente de la parte trasera del camión, no se encontraron otras personas en el camión.

A las 5 de la tarde, los agentes recibieron información de que la camioneta blanca había dejado a varios sujetos en un área de arbustos. Los agentes siguieron las huellas y encontraron a 3 inmigrantes indocumentados escondidos en la maleza. Confirmaron que la camioneta blanca los había dejado porque la Patrulla Fronteriza estaba cerca.

Cuando Matley llegó a la estación de inspección de la Patrulla Fronteriza, un agente canino alertó sobre el olor de personas o sustancias ilegales. Matley fue detenido.

Dos de los tres inmigrantes indocumentados dijeron a los investigadores que fueron recogidos por un camión negro y llevados a una camioneta blanca. Pudieron explicar que ambos conductores se estaban comunicando e identificaron a Matley en una fila.

El plazo fue por dos años a partir de noviembre de 2020.

Ese cargo proviene de su fallido intento de soborno al juez 381 José Luis Garza para rebajar la fianza de un acusado de asesinato.

El domingo 4 de abril la policía respondió a la cuadra 1300 de la calle W. St. Francis en referencia a un robo agravado. La víctima informó que (4) sospechosos con al menos uno blandiendo un cuchillo ingresaron a la residencia y robaron ropa entre otros artículos de valor.

Nuestro equipo de Investigación Criminal recopiló declaraciones de testigos y videos de vigilancia de la unidad de vigilancia de la torre de vigilancia aérea que está estacionada en el complejo de apartamentos.

Andrés Bravo (17 YOA) y Jocelyn Enríquez (18 YOA) fueron identificados como sospechosos en este caso y posteriormente detenidos y acusados de Robo Agravado.

Border Patrol Agents Seize Over 800 Starr County Arrests Everyone is considered pounds of Marijuana innocent until proven otherwise.

Within hours, Rio Grande City Border Patrol (RGC) agents seized more than $660K worth of marijuana in two failed narcotics smuggling attempts.

Last night, RGC agents working near Salineno, Texas, observed several subjects heading north from the Rio Grande with bundles of suspected narcotics. As agents responded to the location, they discovered the abandoned bundles, and some of the suspected smugglers were seen swimming into Mexico. After a search of the area, one subject was encountered hiding nearby. Agents apprehended the individual. The marijuana seized weighed over 360 pounds and is worth an estimated $293K. The suspect and narcotics were turned over to the Starr County Sheriff’s Office.

This morning, RGC agents working near Roma, Texas, responded to suspicious activity near the Rio Grande. Upon arrival, agents encountered an abandoned pickup truck with bundles of marijuana inside bed of truck. The driver apparently caused minor property damage to a fence before absconding, leaving behind the vehicle and narcotics. Roma Police Department was contacted and issued a case number for the damages. The marijuana weighed over 450 pounds and is valued at over $366K

Man Arrested on Smuggling Charge Day After DWI Arrest Dina Garcia-Peña, Jim Hogg

James Matley who’s listed as a San Antonio resident is facing a federal charge for his involvement in a human smuggling case. His federal arrest came hours after being released from the Starr County Jail for a DWI arrest. Matley was first arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety around 7:40am on March 30th for the DWI offense.

A criminal complaint against him states at 4:30pm he was spotted SH 16 in a silver Dodge Ram. The Border Patrol agent describes the man as a known scout for smuggling operations. A white SUV was spotted around the same time driving at a high rate of speed and an agent drove in that direction to investigate. At the same time Matley was pulled over when the agent noticed him swerving erratically.

When asked why he was swerving Matley simply chuckled. Although the seats appeared to be full of grime and there was a smell of body order coming from the back of the truck there were no other people found in the truck. At 5pm agents received information that the white SUV had dropped off several subjects in a brush area. Agents followed footprints abs found 3 undocumented immigrants hiding in the brush. They confirmed that the white SUV had dropped them off because Border Patrol was nearby. When Matley arrived at the Border Patrol inspection station a canine agent alerted to the smell of persons or illegal substance. Matley was detained.

Two of the three undocumented immigrants told investigators they were picked up by a black truck and taken to a white SUV. They were able to explain that both drivers were communicating and identify Matley in a line up.

Car Chase Ends in Severe Accident Dina Garcia-Peña, Roma

A man in his 30s that led troopers in a high-speed chase was transported to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries.

On April 6th at 2:40am a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a traffic violation on US 83 on a Ford Fusion. The driver, however, refused to come to a stop and sped off westbound on US 83. As the car approached the Y intersection in Roma failed to negotiate the turn and crashed into a concrete wall.

Aggravated Robbery in Alton Dina Garcia-Peña, Alton

On Sunday April 4th our agency responded to the 1300 block of W. St. Francis Street in reference to an aggravated robbery. The victim reported (4) suspects with at least one brandishing a knife entered the residence and stole clothing among other items of value.

Our Criminal Investigation team gathered witness statements and surveillance video from the sky watch tower surveillance unit that is stationed at the apartment complex.

Andres Bravo (17 YOA) and Jocelyn Enriquez (18 YOA) were identified as suspects in this case and subsequently apprehended and charged with Aggravated Robbery.

Sasha Flores and Marcos Antonio Gonzalez were arrested on an accusation of attempting to enter with meth.

Dos Arrestados con Metanfetamina Dina García-Peña, Roma

Sasha Flores y Marcos Antonio González fueron arrestados acusados de intentar ingresar con metanfetamina.

En la mañana del 1 de abril, la pareja se dirigió al puerto de entrada Roma - Miguel Alemán a bordo de un Ford Ranger rojo. A través de una inspección habitual los oficiales localizaron 14,36 kilogramos de metanfetamina.

Con la ayuda del Departamento de Policía de Roma, la pareja fue arrestada y transportada a la cárcel del condado de Starr.
