This unique display of plant life is possible because of the Self Family Foundation and Greenwood’s robust business and industry community, and the dedicated individuals charged with year-round care of the artwork.  Locals and visitors eagerly anticipate the unveiling of Greenwood’s topiaries as June arrives and enjoy the added attraction in Uptown through a summer of fun and festivities

The mission of the South Carolina Festival of Flowers is to showcase Greenwood as a destination for flowers, families and fun!

The SC Festival of Flowers: Is an inclusive event that involves volunteers and participants from across the region. Offers entertainment options ranging from gardening and performances to sporting and cultural events. Focuses on education as we empower the community with horticulture knowledge and offer learning opportunities for all ages. Be an economically and ecologically sustainable festival that takes pride in being an economic catalyst for the entire Greenwood community.

South Carolina Festival of Flowers is chartered by the Secretary of State of South Carolina as a non-profit organization for the promotion of tourism in Greenwood County.

Come marvel at our beloved “living” topiary sculptures displayed throughout Uptown Greenwood, South Carolina. When it comes to flowers, everyone loves the topiaries, from the majestic elephant to the dabbling ducks to the Safari Jeep. You will be astonished to see the variety of topiary sizes, plants, colors, and textures. In all, 55 “living” creations are uniquely set in landscaped areas in Uptown Greenwood, South Carolina for the entire month of June.

Palm fiber has been carefully stained with spots to create this loveable pair mama giraffe is fourteen-foot tall. Her life-sized lovable newborn mini me will delight you at six feet tall!

A tribute to Monarchs everywhere, the fivefoot high butterfly can be seen day and night. Thanks to the Flamethrower coleus with copper coleus added for definition, palm fiber creates intricate patterns on both sides of her six-foot wingspan. Outlined in sparkling solar fairy lights. 3. GATEWAY TO GREENWOOD

This is the perfect spot to snap that group photo. Covered in creeping ficus, the inside is accented by variegated creeping ficus with twinkling fairy lights overhead to light the night. Verbena spills down the walls in shades of purple, pink and lavender while coleus wrap their petals around the base in shades of pink and black. Red and white begonias erupt in mounds of flowers. This well-mannered cow has a lovely coat of variegated creeping fig with spots of chocolate chip ajuga. Her cowbell is held by a burlap collar while she waits patiently for you to join her in a field of Shasta daisies. Her nearby sign made of creeping fig reminds you to “eat mor chiken.”

Beware the fourteen-foot-tall, seventeen-foot-long, ferocious tiger sculpted of orange palm fiber. He proudly guards a waterfall of weeping love grass and emerald falls dichondra, this topiary is inspired by one of R. Thornwell Dunlap, Jr.’s favorite sculptures. Surrounding the Tiger is a meadow of rex begonias, moonstone ice plant, moss roses, flamethrower coleus, wire vine, and various tradescantias.

You’ll have it made in the shade when you stop to visit one of the Festival’s most dynamic creations – an arching copper topped pavilion covered with English ivy and a variety of colorful verbena! Entry Fee: $35 if received by June 2nd includes performance shirt; $40, June 3rd to the day of ride. Cash or check only on the day of the event. This ride takes you through the scenic roads of Greenwood County. Rain or shine, the ride is flat to rolling hills. Choose a 63-mile, 30-mile or 20-mile loop. SAG Support provided. Ride ends with lunch and beverages concluding at 2 pm.

The Greenwood Country Club proudly hosts this event and makes it one of the best amateur events in the upstate of South Carolina. The tournament is a 36-Hole stroke play event.
