ABOUT

Hello! My name is Ellie and I am a determined and innovative Interior Architecture and Design Student at Birmingham City University. I have a passion for combining my interests of media and design. Since beginning my studies, I have learnt many software’s, improved on my computer literacy, research and communication skills.

I have much experience unpicking and responding to a brief, designing in mind for a specific audience since studying Media from GCSE to A-Level which I have carried on into my degree.

I am a firm believer that human experience and well-being should be at the forefront of a design, something that I strive to incorporate into each project.

The staircase creates vertical connections between the first and second floor with a integrated seating area in between.

Represents the balance within the building as it is the ‘middle ground’ where both companies converge and the barrier between the different floors is more relaxed.

Seating areas are on each level to encourage users to gravitate towards the staircase and associate it with socialisation and collaboration.

FEATURES:

- Acoustic timber pannels

- Integrated seating

- Embedded LED nosing

- Biophilic design

Inspired by Paul Cocksedge’s ‘Living Staircase.’

It introduces the 'conflic of fast fashion within the industry and how the brand 'Collina Strada' is trying to 'resolve it.' Void This shape is cut out of both FF and SF to allow light from the skylight on the roof to enter the space. This void can be seen as an atrium space. Back wall windows on the right side, 4 windows have been removed as the aesthetic for this floor is to be dark to represent the disequilibrium. The facade windows are blocked by the new facade decoration which also makes this floor darker. Both fire exits and lifts have much space for circulation control in the event of an emergency, FIRST FLOOR

Disabled access door for customers unable to enter through revolving doors. Lifts for people unable to use stairs, fire exits on either side of building The layout of the ground floor retail space is relaxed and open plan so that circulation for customers is fluid and safe for any emergency exit Added exterior doors where the fire exits are located. Windows on the facade next to the catwalk/display have had the column between them removed so that customers can see into the building and view the catwalk events

The brand 'Collina Strada' teaches customers how they can give their wardrobe a 'second life' encourages upcycling old clothing instead of resorting to fast fashion The void goes through the SF as well as the FF. Allows natural light from skylight to enter through the floors and down to the GF Two sections on the floor the workshop area where customers create sustainable clothing, and a workplace with meeting rooms or Collina Strada staff to work. Toilets are also located on the SF as it will be an area where people will be spending a lot of time. Both sections have relaxing areas to make the atmosphere feel more welcoming and inclusive
