Gowanda Sports Report BY BILL PEGLOWSKI GOWANDA — The Gowanda Varsity girls volleyball team started its week at home hosting Ca araugus-Li le Valley on Sept. 13. Gowanda came out flat in game one and soon found themselves down 13-6. At that point, they got their game on track and were able to tighten the game to 1412. CLV scored twice before Gowanda took over the lead 18-16 with a six-point run. That grew to 21-17 before CLV rallied back to close to within one at 24-23. From that critical point, Gowanda held on to secure a 25-23 win and go up 1-0 in the match. CLV was able to start out game two with a 3-1 early advantage that Gowanda quickly reduced to a tie. From a 4-4 tie, Gowanda began to slowly pull into the lead that eventually reached 17-7. CLV closed the gap to 7 points, but even play from there brought Gowanda a 2518 win. Up 2-0 in the match, Gowanda was able to let a couple of the starters sit out game three. They still came out fast scoring the fi rst four points. C-LV came back to tie the game at 5. The tight play saw the score tied through 11 before Gowanda was able to gradually move out to a 1912 lead. Very even play from that point allowed Gowanda to hold on for a 25-20 win to take the match 3-0. The volleyball team was at home again Sept. 15 hosting Silver Creek.
