I Love My Park Day May 5 On Saturday, May 5, celebrate I Love My Park Day by giving back. The Friends of Allegany State Park will host volunteers as part of more than 100 cleanups, improvement and beautification events happening statewide. This event will be held on the Quaker side of the park and is the fourth year the Friends of Allegany State Park have hosted the event in cooperation with Allegany State Park management and PTNY. According to Sandy Boczar, event chairperson, projects will include putting in the mulch by the new playground, removing nails and staples from cabins, fixing trail head signs, putting in the

at Holiday Valley’s Sky High Opening Day

On May 4, Sky High Adventure Park opens for its seventh season with the force of an entire galaxy. Star Wars fans are invited to join the opening day fun and celebrate May 4 by wearing their favorite Star Wars clothing to receive $5 off a threehour climb in the Sky High Aerial Park. Sky High Adventure Park includes the Aerial Park, the Climbing Forest and the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster. courses of varying difficulty, 173 obstacles and 43 zip-lines. Later this summer, visitors can look forward to the new “Tarzan Swing” on the intermediate level course, Riptide. Climbers will grab a rope attached to a trolley and travel across to a cargo net where they’ll climb up to the next platform. Younger children will get a chance to try panning for treasures at the new Happy Holiday Gem Mine located at the base area of Sky High.

Regatta Ready to Set Sail

A year after participants at the annual Great Valley Regatta were not permitted to put their crafts in the creek due to an unusually high water level, officials said this year’s event is down about 500 contestants. Mark Ward, assistant fire chief at the Great Valley Volunteer Company that organizes the event, said it’s possible last year’s experience — coupled with this year’s chilly and sometimes snowy April — reduced registrants. Locals Get Special Summer Music Fest Pricing May 7-11 The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce Locals Week ticket pricing! From May 7-11, residents and employees working or living in the 14731 zip code may purchase up to four tickets for each concert for $20 each at the chamber office, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The opening concert on Friday, June 29 will feature Uprooted, with special guests Funktional Flow.
