HoliMont Athletes Headed to 2018 Winter Olympics

HoliMont Ski Resort member Darren Gardner will fulfi ll his dream as a competitor in the Winter Olympics as he heads to PyeongChang, South Korea, to represent Team Canada in the parallel giant slalom. “It is certainly an honor and I’m very proud to wear the maple leaf. To be a part of such an amazing team is something special,” Gardner said. “This will be my fi rst games as a competitor. I had the privilege of forerunning the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, and I just missed out on being selected for the team in Sochi, so this is defi nitely a great feeling.”

On Feb. 9, the world’s eyes will be on PyeongChang, South Korea for the opening ceremonies of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. The games will run through Sunday, Feb. 25, and athletes from around the globe will compete in various competitions within the following disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Luge, Nordic Combined, Short Track Speed Skating, Skeleton, Ski Jumping, Snowboard and Speed Skating. The Ellicottville School Board of Education on Tuesday got a fi rst reading of proposed changes to its policy for admission of non-resident students that makes minor adjustments to several facets of the document. Among the changes are the move of the deadline for nonresident parents to be notifi ed of the established tuition rate for the upcoming year from March 1 to April 1.
