The snow is here and the ski resorts are calling! Whether you prefer your downhill runs on skis, a snowboard or in a tube, Ellicottville has you covered. Head to Holiday Valley this Saturday, Dec. 16 for Demo Day. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ellicottville’s own specialty ski and snowboard shops will be present, loaning out free demos so you can try before you buy. Demo Day is brought to you by The City Garage, The Boardroom, Mud Sweat ‘n Gears and Dekdebruns. Knowledgeable ski and snowboard technicians from these shops will be on-site, slopeside of the Holiday Valley Lodge to pair you with the latest equipment, geared to match your specific riding style and preference. Choose from a variety of brands, including Burton, Salomon Snowboards, Salomon Skis, Mervin Manufacturing, Atomic, Armada, Head, K2, Line, Liberty, Volkl, Apex Ski Boots, Rossignol, Dynastar, Nordica, Fischer and more. Telemark skis will also be available, just bring your own boots. A credit card is required for deposit and a parent signature if you’re under the age of 18. Don’t get stuck with equipment that doesn’t meet your needs or expectations. Get to know local shop owners and brand representatives, all with years of experience to help you find the gear that’s built for you.

While some may mumble and swear under their breaths about the snow and return of winter, there are plenty who wait and chomp at the bit for the first chance to slide on frozen, fluffy white stuff. This Friday, Dec. 15, at 9:30 a.m., the lifts at HoliMont will start to turn for their 56th winter season. Experienced Eagles Look the Part in Salamanca Finals By Sam Wilson
You could see the experience gap five minutes into Saturday’s championship final of the 85th Salamanca Tip-Off Tournament. The host Warriors brought back one starter and two others from last year’s team after a nineplayer senior class. received earlier in the day, was from the owner of the building. In this letter, he advised the VPB that he was withdrawing the application and the ATM would be removed as soon as possible. This was an application for a Special Use Permit for an accessory use of a walk-up ATM. It will have the footprint of an ATM Kiosk. Last month, there
were concerns regarding setbacks and if the parking space the ATM was occupying was a required space. The VPB requested a survey and original site plan from the applicant which was not received. The Code Enforcement Officer was able to locate the original site plan and the parking space was deemed unrequired.

Village Board Tables Budget Modifications

Brooke Szpaicher of Ellicottville has been ratified by the Village Board (VB) to the Joint Fire Commission. The next step will be ratification by the Town Board at their
December 2018 meeting. The new Joint Town and Village (T/V) Engineer Nile Pearson joined in on the conversation via telephone, so he can start to acclimate himself to the current matters the VB is

Christmas Cantata Choir to Performs Dec. 17 By Deb Everts
The Christmas Cantata choir, comprised of residents of the Salamanca and Ellicottville area, will present two performances on Sunday, Dec. 17 that organizers hope will express the true meaning of Christmas. The first performance
will be presented in the First United Congregational Church, 134 Broad Street in Salamanca, at 3 p.m. A second performance will take place at the Holy Name of Mary Church, 22 Jefferson Street in Ellicottville, at 7 p.m.
