Getting ready for the holidays has never been easier, and you can take a short stroll down Main Street later this month and get everything you need. At the annual A Very Merry Main Street, Nov. 25 and 26, local stores and businesses will open their doors and offer customers a great shopping experience, Springville style. A Very Merry Main Street began four years ago, when Kim Carrow, owner of My Best Friend’s Closet and Mary James, owner of Fresh (formerly Rhapsody’s), had the idea and approached other businesses with it. Since then, it has become a combined effort, with everyone chipping in to organize it each year. “It incorporates Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, which is small business owners’ holiday,” Carrow

In addition, other local businesses, who don’t have their own storefront, will be set up inside the businesses that do. The businesses pool their money and offer cash prizes. Concord Planning Board Hopes to Learn More About Solar Energy By Christopher Gordon
Learning more about the benefits of solar energy is a topic the Town of Concord Planning Board hopes to get more educated on in the near future. Board member James D. Jozwiak believes it could be beneficial and asked if anyone from the board talked with Solar Liberty. “The presentation I went to was pretty good,” Jozwiak said. According to Jozwiak, Solar Liberty officials could give an idea of the long-term savings from those who switch to
solar energy. For example, he said they could give a rough estimate of how much could be saved in a few months after the cost of installation. Board member Bruce Luno said there is a home on North Otto Road that recently went solar and he would like to see the board hear from Solar Liberty because it is not just homeowners that can benefit. “A lot of the stuff they are doing is both residential and commercial,” Jozwiak said. At this time, an exact date for a presentation has yet to be determined.

If you need an excuse to get out this month, here are three. Springville Health & Fitness, located at 243 West Main Street in Springville, opens its doors to the public for a variety of events in the next few weeks. Springville Health & Fitness owner Mary Hannon said she is “always looking for new events” to hold in their large second floor space, and that she looks forward to November’s events bringing people in to see their building. Supplies owner Toni Story created these events as “a way to connect people who are getting married (or having a big party) to local vendors” and also as a way for those who have already been through it to sell their wares. At the expo,
guests will find everything from photographers, florists, printers, officiants, bakers and more, as well as people selling centerpieces, dresses, pew bows, you name it. “You can find everything you need in one day,” Story
