Holiday Valley to Open Saturday, Nov. 26 By Jane Eshbaugh
With over 12 inches of natural snow and a good snowmaking run that began early this week, Holiday Valley’s President and General Manager, Dennis Eshbaugh, announced plans to open for their 60th season of skiing and snowboarding on Saturday, Nov. 26. According to Eshbaugh, “This is an exciting time of year and we’re pleased to get an early start on the season.” Weather permitting, the resort plans to have three lifts operating from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.— the Yodeler Quad Chairlift, Mardi Gras Xpress Quad Chairlift and School Haus Quad Chairlift. Four slopes will be open that range from easier to most difficult: School Haus, the Candy
Last year Joey did not have any gifts under the Christmas tree for his parents or his big sister Nancy. This year little Joey is driving on a snowy Sunday afternoon in December to Santa’s Workshop with Nancy and their parents. In the back seat of the car he is holding his piggy bank to shop for Christmas presents for his family. When the family walks into Santa’s Workshop they are greeted by Santa’s Elves. The Workshop is decorated for Christmas and filled with gifts to choose from. His parents are escorted to a private waiting area where they enjoy refreshments while the Elves help Joey and Nancy select presents for them. The kids and parents then each get a chance

Christmas Stroll Dec. 3 Ellicottville’s Christmas Stroll a Day to Remember
We live in a world of constant hustle and what seems to be a continuous push for more and more. Why not take the time to come to Ellicottville and remember what it was that created this special time of year? Ellicottville’s Christmas Stroll is a commemoration of that first Christmas. On Dec. 3, at 9 a.m., head to the annual Christmas Bazaar at the United Church on Elizabeth Street and shop for a unique piece for that special someone who has it all. The bazaar runs until 4 p.m.

Fundraiser to Benefit Santa’s Workshop

The day after Thanksgiving means thoughts turn to Christmas, and holiday spirit fills the air. If you prefer a traditional start to the season to the crowds of Black Friday, look no further than Christmas in Ellicottville, Nov. 25-27. The event, presented by Wingate by Wyndham and Sysco, and produced by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, is a great way to start the season. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride, sponsored by the Law Offices of John Nelson and Peters & Moriarty. Hop on a firetruck with Santa and take a ride, sponsored by HoganWillig. Head over to RealtyUSA for gingerbread construction or have your picture taken at the Dekdebrun’s Face Place stations. With the help of great merchants like Ameri-Can sponsoring the weekend, it all happens here. And just because you aren’t waiting in long lines doesn’t mean you’ll have to miss out on the shopping part. Stroll the local shops and find that perfect gift. As part of the Christmas in Ellicottville celebration, businesses will be decorated in the theme of Christmas Light, to tie in with the new street lighting in the village. The competition is fierce— as they are all vying for a prize— so expect some creative and festive displays! Christmas in Ellicottville is your way to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping venues and enjoy the season the old fashioned way.

Ellicottville Seeks Grant to Digitize Cemetery Records

In an attempt to make finding someone who is deceased easier, the Ellicottville Town Board is seeking to obtain a grant which would digitize
records and make finding the person in question one click away. “It will be searchable and can be put on the website,” Ellicottville Town Clerk Robyn
