Who is the Art Therapist?

THE art therapy room...

The Art Therapist has easels, brushes, and every color of paint.

There’s enough clay to create every animal on the planet.

There’s tablets to draw on and computers to play on.

The room also has lots of stuff and space to make crafts!

The Handbook of Art Therapy says, “Mark-making and creating art objects provides the basis for using images in therapy, (Case and Dalley ch. 3).”

What do Art therapy sessions look like?

Art therapy helps "the child to understand and make sense of (their) emotional world (Case and Dalley ch. 6).�

How did you feel when you made this?

I felt calmer and happier!

The Client does not have to be "Good at Art."

“The art process in a therapeutic situation will be affected by many considerations which include the setting, the client and most prominently the therapist,” (Case and Dalley, ch. 2).

This looks horrible! I’m no good!

No one can be bad at art in the art therapy room!

Conclusion Art Therapy is a therapeutic approach that can be applied to anyone. Clients do not require any previous artistic experience or artistic ability to be successful in sessions. Art Therapy allows clients to express their emotions through creativity, so it benefits clients who feel out of touch with their emotions.
