hello, my name is elizabeth phillips and i am a double major in graphic design and english passionate about the challenging process of creating, refining, and recreating. i am fascinated by the power to communicate not only with written word but image and how the combination of these two is the most powerful form of communication. i am thankful for this opportunity to showcase what i love best and hope my passion for the interaction between design and words is evident in my work.

impossible invitation indesign, autocad, illustrator, photoshop this invitation was designed for an event I created to benefit and celebrate the impossible project. the impossible project refurbishes old polaroid instant cameras and sells new instant polaroid film. the graphics were inspired by the company’s film packaging and the iconic polaroid stripe. using clean type and witty design choices, like a box that folds like a polaroid sx-70 camera, and a modified gate fold that when opens makes ‘impossible’ into ‘possible.’

fresh rebranding indesign, photoshop, illustrator for this rebranding project, i chose the luxury skincare company fresh inc. there were many parts to this project, which begun with redesigning the logo and creating a new tagline for the company to reflect a repositioning statement. a style guide was created to instruct on the proper way to use the new logo and a brochure was created to visually present the new logo and tagline and how they related to the repositioning statement. corporate letterhead, envelopes and business cards were the final aspects of the project.

artist book photoshop, illustrator based on the eddie vedder song guarunteed, this artist book is a visual represntation of the song. Particularly influential lyrics that guided many of my decisions were: “circles they grow and they swallow people whole.” “late at night I hear the trees they are singing with the dead”“owning me like gravity are places that pull.” to visually represent these lyrics I used a cirlce motif throughout the book, created tree bark texture on the binding/spine of the, and used folding to create a sense of gravity.

slaughterhouse 5 cover indesign, illustrator, photoshop this wrap-around book cover for slaughterhouse five, was inspired by powerful imagery in the book: the train that carries billy pilgrim to a pow camp. the color palette of “blue and ivory,” is based on a line that is repeated throughout the book. the repetition of the author’s name under the train illustration is meant to mimic the rhythm of a train running over tracks.

thank you.
