Osborne created the first two hearts for the Hearts in San Francisco public sculpture installation and auction. The profits from the project go to San Francisco General Hospitals and the project was inspired by the Tony Bennett lyric: “I left my heart in San Francisco.” Osborne’s original hearts were unveiled on February 14, 2004 and since then over 200 artists have followed in his footsteps and created heart sculptures of their own.
