Lake Stevens provides a choice of lifestyles from its sandy beaches with both public and private shorelines to its spacious country living. The 1,040 acre picturesque lake is the largest lake in Snohomish County and has over 8 miles of shoreline. It is enjoyed for its fishing, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, sail boarding, canoeing and swimming.
The Lake Stevens area is about 8 miles east of Everett, the county seat. The City of Lake Stevens is at the northwest corner of the lake. Formerly a mill town in a lumber, fishing and agricultural area, it became primarily a bedroom community for Seattle and Everett.
The climate is moderate with monthly rainfall ranging from an average low of 1.1 in August, to an average high of 5.9 during the winter months of November through December. The area has averaged 39 inches of rain per year over the past 30 years. Average temperatures range from lows in the mid to upper 30’s in the through October.
Lake Stevens was named after the first Governor, Issac I. Stevens in 1859. The town built up around Ruckers Mill the largest mill on the lake, which ran from 1906 to 1925. A few setbacks, like fire, slowed the growth of the community, but Lake Stevens has continued to prosper throughout the years and developed into a wonderful community in which to live.
