THE COMMUNITY

North Tacoma has a charming small-town feel encompassing several neighborhoods like Old Town, Ruston, Stadium District, North Slope Historic District, Proctor District, and the University of Puget Sound. With plenty of street parking and treelined streets, the area is walkable, making getting around simple. The neighborhood boasts some beautiful historic homes from classic to craftsman.

New construction in this area is rare, with most of the homes being built in the 60s and 70s. Point Defiance Zoo is a frequent visitor spot for locals and out-of-towners alike. The 702-acre park is nestled on the northern tip of Tacoma, meeting the waterfront for a beautiful view. You can find many fabulous restaurants looking out onto Commencement Bay directly facing Vashon Island. With community gardens, farmers markets, and restaurants, this area is boasting with things to do.

Tacoma School District No. 10, commonly called Tacoma Public Schools, is the main school district for Tacoma, Washington, United States. Composed of 35 elementary schools, nine middle schools, and eight high schools, it is the third largest school district in Washington State. In partnership with parents and community, they will provide a comprehensive educational experience that is rigorous, individualized and enables students to contribute to a changing and diverse world.
