I am an Italian architect working in Paris, mainly on tertiary sector projects of a mediumlarge scale. I previously studied at the Politecnico di Milano, at the University of Architecture of Venice (IUAV) and ETSAM of Madrid. In all these different environments, I had the occasion to work in a multicultural context that helps me developing an open mind. During my work experiences I learned how to relate with different contexts and scales, always being enthusiastic in deepening my knowledge of architecture and urban planning.

LE COTE VERT Mixed use (commerce, housing, offices) | Namur, BE

The intervention aims at requalifying an existing parking area, located next to the railways and a ramp bus. The variety of functional uses tries to bring attractivity to the entire area and to reconnect the three strategic points of the site: the railway station, the main commercial street and the principal access to the town, place Léopold. The covered commercial passage shows the continuity with the urban tissue, linking all the three nodes and bringing the visitor to an immersive green inner space. On the top of the commercial base, a coworking building and three residential blocks are shaped to integrate into the context and to offer a high number of balconies.

CARREFOUR MONTESSON Commercial extension | Montesson, FR

The need of a commercial extension in the residential suburbs of Paris toprook its inspiration from the context in which it aims to integrate. One of the main point of the project was to build a dialogue with the neighborhood, reinterpretating the residential pavilions and trying to create a urban centre, not only a commercial hub.

The mall is conceived as a continuation of the surrounding streets that connects the city to the project extension.

The project aim to empower the livability of the street that connect the city center to the area of Fabbrica Alta and Jacquard garden, two of the main elements of the city’s industrial heritage.

The idea of encouraging citizens to reestablish a connection with their historical and artistic culture drove us to rethink the structure of the actual street, currently focused on car transit and with poor security for pedestrians.

Phase: Competition “London affordable housing” by Beebreders A modular proposal to face housing emergency in London. Flexible, cheap and customizable, the idea is to provide a light structure that can be filled with wooden modules in every situation.

WEAVING THE SPACE Public space | Schio (Vicenza), IT Phase: Competition

The renewal of Schio central square offer the chance to rethink in a contemporary way the heavy cultural influence that the textile industry had not only in the city but also in the near territories since XVIII sec with the realization of Lanificio Conte.

The project works to bring the concept of weaving the space to life taking different fabric textures as direct product of local manufacture and combining them into physical spaces. The result is a wide patchwork in which experiment different situations; playful colours of different fabrics are translated into polychromatic natural stones, animating the horizontal space and balancing out the lack of architectural identity of the surrounding buildings.

WEAVING CONNECTIONS Moroccan pavilion | Dubai, UAE

The pavilion for the Expo Dubai 2020 composed by a tensegrity structure, shows the will of connecting tradition to innovation, through the use of a wired structure -reminding the textile culture of Morocco- made of synthetic fibers, instead of natural ones. This material (polyester), can come from the recycling process of plastic components that are disgragated in pellets and flakes and used to produce wires and fabrics. In a society where the accumulation of plastic wastes is becoming an important issue to deal with, the project wants to show a possible alternative of recycling, useful also for sectors as architecture. Using this textile structure, hanged on the tensegrity one, the project considers also the importance of light in the Moroccan culture and proposes a reinterpretation of its perception in the traditional “suq” varying the density of the wires along the pavilion.

IN BETWEEN Youth hostel | Milan, IT

The closed character of milanese architecture is here both confirmed and denied through a project that creates, at the same time, a private inner court and a public square. The main volume of the designed hostel closes an existing residential block, formally continuing the urban tissue of the city made by courtyard buildings. The second element helps definying the square as a separeted area from the street but, at the same time, creates a narrow corridor that opens in the piazza, causing a rythm of contracted-dilated spaces.The square, with its wavy benches used also in the inner court, connects the two separated buildings and their functions, basically divided in public (also accessible for citizens) and private (only for the hostel’s clients). The main block hosts bedrooms and common spaces, whereas the pavilion shows a more “open” character, thanks to the presence of a restaurant and bar at the ground floor and a multipurpouse space at the first level.

The project strategy adopted comes from a reflexion around the identity of the urban voids and the concept of limit, on which the industrial areas are based. The perimeter fence contributed to the abandonment of the site but, at the same time, it promoted the development of a spontaneous natural environment. The necessity to protect the biodiversity of a green area near the dense city centre was at the basis of the decision to maintain the existing borders of the area and to strengthen them. The presence of different situations inside the area gave occasion to develop many typologies of landscapes, going from the most urban to the most natural. Linked with the strong entrepreneurial character of the region, part of these environments works in relation with the designed research centre, though as an innovation pole for the production of fabrics from food and agricultural wastes.
