Welcome back!

Hi Matt and Carl,

How are you? We’re writing from the Water Adventure Summer Camp, a wonderful water park in Wales. We’re here for fourteen days of sports activities and fun. There’s a huge swimming pool with water rides!

We are staying in the pods near the lake. Each pod can accommodate two people, they’re small but very comfortable. Here at the camp there are kids from all over Europe, we’ve got new French and German friends now.

There are a lot of activities to do, such as swimming, kayaking, tennis and table tennis.

Every day we get up at 7.30, have breakfast in the main kitchen, then we walk to the pool. The pool opens at 9 Lunch is at 12 30 in the café. It’s usually sandwiches, an apple or a banana, some water or fruit juice.

We go back to our pod at about 6 p.m., then we have a shower and get ready for dinner at 6 45

We all help in the kitchen, lay the tables and serve the food. After dinner we can go to the open-air cinema on Mondays, or we can join the kitchen laboratory or go to the disco on Thursdays and Saturdays. We’re reading in bed now because we’re very tired. ‘Lights off’ is at 10 p.m.

What are you doing in England? Come here, it’s so much fun!

Love, Ella & Niko

Joseph Fanning, from Hawaii, is a typical 15 year old in many ways: he goes to school every day, and he does his homework in the afternoons. But Joseph also has a special talent. He’s a junior surf champion! He takes part in lots of local surf competitions, and he’s also got a trophy from a junior surf championship in Bali, Indonesia. Other teenagers put on their school uniforms when they get up in the mornings, but Joseph doesn’t. He always wakes up at 5.30 a.m., has a cup of tea with toast for breakfast, then he puts on his wetsuit. The beach is in front of his home, so he goes there to practise for an hour every morning before school. Then he has a shower, gets dressed and leaves home. He gets to school at 8.15, in time for his first lesson. In the afternoons when he gets home, he usually eats a healthy snack, such as yogurt or fruit, and does his homework. And how does he finish his day? He goes surfing again, of course!

2 How often does he go surfing?

3 What time does he wake up in the mornings?
