Present continuous
Questa forma verbale può corrispondere, in italiano, al gerundio (sto andando), al participio presente (una pentola fumante), o all’infinito (mi piace correre). Si usa per formare il Present continuous, dopo i verbi di preferenza (vedi Verbi ed aggettivi + forma in -ing, pagina 51), oppure in alcuni titoli (Listening, Reading). Si ottiene aggiungendo il suffisso -ing alla forma base del verbo, seguendo alcune regole: generalmente si aggiunge -ing alla forma base, anche a tutti i verbi che terminano per -y help eat play study

Il Present continuous si costruisce con:

Se un verbo termina con una sola consonante preceduta da una sola vocale, si raddoppia la consonate quando
