Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin is a level II trauma center.

Health Elgin is a regional health care center with people from all over the Chicago region coming here for their health care needs for more than 100 years.

Groundbreaking advances in treatments are offered at Ascension Saint Joseph, Ascension Saint Alexius and Advocate Sherman Hospital, all providing shortterm acute care. One out of every eight jobs in Elgin and South Elgin are in health care and our schools provide a pipeline for trained medical staff. Elgin, Illinois, is home to a remarkable range of educational institutions, catering to the diverse educational needs of its residents and

businesses. From early childhood education to bachelor's and master's degree programs, learners can pursue their educational goals without ever having to leave town. With a staggering workforce of 4,900 full-time employees, Elgin-based District U-46 stands as the second-largest public school district in Illinois. District U-46 takes pride in its ability to serve a diverse population, with students speaking a rich tapestry of

over 100 languages.

In addition to District U-46, Elgin is served by other school districts in different areas. The far western edge of the city falls under the jurisdiction of Central Community Unit School District 301, while some parts of Elgin lie within Community Unit School Districts 300 and 303. These school districts and a multitude of private school choices collectively contribute to the educational landscape of Elgin, ensuring that students have access to quality education across the city.

Elgin Community College stands as a cornerstone of higher education in the city, providing an extensive range of degree and certificate programs. With over 130 career paths available, students can pursue their passions and gain practical skills in fields ranging from nursing to truck driving, criminal justice to welding.
