01 Travels in Parallel Reality
Some theaters offer a stage however, the Floral Theatre offers more. The new Floral Theatre is sited in Lorong Ah Thia, Singapore. The project aims to harmoniously blend arts and nature. The architecture creates several new experiences by introducing different types and species of plantation. Some of the spaces that provide such experiences are the Fountain Exhibition which houses floating plants and Garden Studio where beautiful landscapes can be found. Visitors can also enjoy socializing in spaces such as the Observatory Foyer that provides a beautiful view from above and Rooftop Garden that includes tables and seats for visitors to enjoy. The main part of the architecture, the Floral Hall where most floral and fauna can be found. Light shows will be held there for the visitors to enjoy from afar and even up close. To make the experience more memorable, visitors can get up close and enjoy educational shows at the Outdoor Theatre by the gardeners.
02 Genius of Nature
This proposes the design on “The Treehopper”, a new capsule hotel sited in the rainforest area of Singapore Botanical Garden. The project aims to harmoniously blend into its beautiful forested surrounding creating a place that integrates people and greenery. The design creates a new living experience in the rainforest by providing a sense of protection and connectivity to nature. The main entrance of the building leads to the fore tower which includes the reception and waiting area for book-ins. It is connected to the core junction where visitors can take a shower and even hang out. Linking to the twisted tunnels, it leads visitors to the capsule backyard and the rear range which is the exit of the building. Singapore witnessed a rise in the number of trekkers and cyclists due to the pandemic. The Conserving TreeHopper would be a convenient spot to take a break during or after their journey.
The Villagers & Their Dwelling of Magic 03
The concept behind the model derives from the dwelling magic of the villager . An ordinary internet cafe/minimart shophouse located in 26 Perak Road is transformed into this new form which expresses the magic of the previous site. The weaving tunnel represents the movement pattern of the customers as they enter the one and only narrow, long entrance. The weaving tunnels not only provides new experiences for the customers but also increase the number of exits and entrances. The peeking cubicles express the actions of the internet cafe users as they stick their heads out once in a while to take a breather from staring at the screen for too long. The small opening on the cubicles will allow them to easily stick their heads out. Lastly, The lookout boundary which is where the two shopkeepers are placed. Each of them will have their own boundary as they do not like to share spaces. This new form will provide new experiences for the users.
St John Dementia Centre 04
St John Singapore Dementia Centre (SJSDDCC) was set up to meet the demands of the fast increasing numbers of senior citizens with dementia and to complement the government’s obligation to care for these people, so that they can continue to live in their community with dignity. The objective of the project is to study feasibility and conceptualize spatial design strategy for all 3-storey of SJSDDCC with a better designed dementia-inclusive environment and updated rehabilitation facilities. At the same time, to provide education and training for the caregivers to enhance their abilities to provide better care for their loved ones living with dementia as well as cope with the pressure and stress as a caregiver.
The Sprouting Youths of Nature 05
This Architectural proposal investigates a new typology of pre-school learning space infused with nature. It is not an ideal situation to spend a long period learning inside the four walls of a classroom. In order for learning to take place organically, the typical indoor classroom environment is turned outwards towards nature. This project aims to improve the sense of the younger generation and foster sociability amongst them by challenging the current approach of a traditional learning environment to meet new learning methods, which increases their attention span and lessens the symptoms of attention-deficit disorders. As the child undergoes academic transition, they will be exposed to more facilities. This encourages the child to relish the experience of growing up.The proposed project will be located in Mountbatten Estate, Singapore to develop a setting that provides chances for learning and development both inside and outside of limited classroom settings.
