Winter Collection 2022-2023
ELEVEN AND A HALF is delighted to present its Winter Collection 20222023. Our artists have worked incredibly hard this year, capturing the essence of the Penwith peninsula: its dramatic seascapes, sheltered coves, windswept moors, and isolated farm cottages. From Michael Praed’s iconic stylised fishing boats to Iona Sanders’ contemporary faux-naïve still-life paintings, we believe they are each continuing in the best traditions of art in Cornwall, contributing to the long history of great art being produced in the county.
This has been our first full year back since the interruptions of the pandemic. We have really enjoyed being able once again to show our artists’ work at fairs across the country. A highlight has been the hugely positive reception to the paintings of our newest artist, Jill Eisele. Jill’s work has gained followers wherever we have exhibited, and we are really looking forward to finding out what the visitors to the Edinburgh Art Fair make of her paintings of east Scotland, produced during a holiday there earlier in the year.
One event in our calendar that has yet to return is our annual Winter Show, largely because the A&D Gallery, our hosts in Marylebone for several years, have sadly closed their doors for the final time. We hope to find a new venue in time for next year’s show. In the meantime, you will always be welcome to make an appointment to see these paintings and ceramics, and more, in Spitalfields. A glass of wine awaits!
