VRC Metal Systems is an internationally-known cold spray provider leading the cold spray equipment market with a 35% market share globally. It’s hard to believe that such a successful company was simply two employees in a garage less than 10 years ago. Inc. 500 recognized VRC Metal Systems as one of the fastest growing private companies in 2017, 2018, and 2019. In 2020 they were named South Dakota Small Business of the Year.

VRC has over 20 active contracts with the Department of Defense and Department of Energy. They have grown from a small manufacturer to a full-service cold spray provider offering R&D process development, automation integration, training, onsite and regional support in addition to equipment manufacturing. The fast success VRC Metal Systems has seen has allowed them to expand operations to Massachusetts, Virginia, North Dakota, and Washington, but the company is committed to keeping its headquarters in the Black Hills.

The team at VRC takes great joy in giving back to their community and the military. They support the Ellsworth Air Force Base and several charitable organizations. In addition, they hire interns and graduates of South Dakota Mines, providing high-tech local jobs with high salaries and benefits.
