Speedy Hantangang River

Hantangang River Rafting The peak season for Hantangang River leisure sports (leports) is from late June to September. The Hantangang River has a range of diverse and fun-filled activities for visitors to experience the unique basalt valley that was formed from volcanoes. Sundam Valley is considered the best course, and is surrounded by granite. Visitors will also enjoy the thrill of faster-flowing waters at Narincheon Stream in Inje and Donggang River in Yeongwol, Gangwon-do.

Seoraksan Towangseong Falls Ice Climbing The falls reach 350 meters in height, and are considered the best ice climbing location in the country, as it is the closest experience in Korea to winter ice climbing in the Himalayas. Top ice climbers also head to Yeongdong’s artificial ice climbing area, where an international ice climbing competition is held. Applications to participate in the Seoraksan Towangseong ice climbing contest are accepted in January, and the competition takes place in February.

Along the Picturesque River

Jeongseon Railbike Ride A railroad, running from Gujeolli Station to Auraji, shows the hidden scenery of Jeongseon through a 7.2 km stretch. Participants have the option of relaxing at a cafĂŠ located in Gujeolli Station after taking in a prime view of Nochusan Mountain and Ojang Falls. Unique rock formations and unusual stones await visitors along the river after Songcheon Valley. The rail bike operates five times a day during the summer season, and four times a day during the winter.

Danyang Gosu Cave Discover ancient mysteries and natural beauty at Gosu Cave, a limestone cave that stretches 1,700 m in length. Designated as a natural monument, Gosu Cave has opened 600m of the cave for public tours, while preserving the remainder of the area. Sajabawi Rock is regarded as a guardian god in the cave, and rows of stalactites, with some reaching 7m in height, add to the cave’s beauty. Inside the cave, the temperatures hover at around 15℃ throughout the year, offering a cool refuge in summer and warm environment in the winter. Ski

Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort Alpensia Resort is the venue for the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, is 700m in elevation, and has snowy areas ideal for winter sports. A Ski Jump Lounge is located at the top of the skip jump tower constructed for the Olympics, and an Alpine Coaster takes riders on a trip from the top of the mountains, reaching speeds of 40km/ hr. Taekwondo

Muju Taekwondowon Taekwondowon is scheduled to open in April, 2014 in Baekunsan Mountain, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do and is a new venue for exchange among taekwondo athletes from around the world. Facilities will also include a Taekwondo stadium, an experience hall, an exhibition hall and an International Taekwondo Academy in expansive facilities with an impressive area of 2,314,000m². Surrounded by stunning natural scenery in Muju, visitors are invited to take part in taekwondo, and enjoy the venue’s water terrace.

Baengnyeongdo Island Located near the border with North Korea in the west sea, Baengyeongdo Island is a scenic and natural wonder. Visitors will enjoy viewing the habitat of Phoca largha (spotted seal), which is designated as a Natural Monument, and Kongdol Beach, which is filled with round mottled pebbles sculpted by the effects of the waves, Sagot Natural Airport, which is one of two natural airfields in the world, and Seondaeam Rock in Dumujin, which has fantastic rock formations.

Dutayeon Falls Dutayeon Valley is a spacious waterhole where crystal water from the Suip Stream at the foot of Geumgangsan Mountain empties into one location. After being closed for 50 years, the valley was reopened to the public in 2004 and remains a pristine area. Visitors walk through the ecology observation path, which is an eco-tourism paradise. Walking along the pure valley, which is also Korea's largest habitat for lenok, and fully experience Dutayeon, including the PLZ (Peace and Life Zone), with the sights and scents of the forest.
