Hitachi Energy to supply power transformers for India’s largest renewable energy park

Hitachi Energy will provide made-in-India power transformers to upcoming renewable energy park in Gujarat enabling sustainable energy system for a clean energy transition.

Hitachi Energy India Limited (Hitachi Energy) has been awarded a contract by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) to supply power transformers for their upcoming 4.75 GW renewable energy park in Gujarat, which is part of India’s largest solar park. Spread over 72,600 hectares in Kutch, this solar park supports the country’s efforts towards carbon-neutral future with its increasing green energy footprint. NTPC REL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the power giant, NTPC LTD.

As part of this project, Hitachi Energy will provide ten (10) nos. 315 MVA 400/33/33 kV transformers manufactured at its Transformers factory in Vadodara. This will be the largest rating of transformer, used by solar power evacuation so far. “The transition from fossil fuels to renewables has only just begun and we are proud to be part of this ambitious project by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited,” said N Venu, Managing Director and CEO, India and South Asia, Hitachi Energy. “Hitachi Energy is championing the urgency of the energy transition by pioneering technologies to help accelerate a carbon-neutral future.” India is progressively moving towards building a carbon-

neutral future with an ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions by 2070 and to meet half of the electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030. According to a report* by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the total installed renewable energy capacity of India stood at 161.28 GW as of July 2022. This solar energy park is estimated to produce enough electricity to support 8 million** people.

Hitachi Energy is advancing the world’s energy system, pioneering innovative solutions needed to integrate renewables at scale. As of today, around one third of green power in India flows through Hitachi Energy technologies, such as transformers.

The made-in-India power transformers are critical components in power systems. They pool the generated power from the renewable source and step it up at the pooling station to synchronize and feed into inter-state/intrastate transmission system. Their availability and longevity have a major impact on grid reliability and better voltage control even with intermittent supply while the Company’s eco-design transformers enable sustainability requirements. The transformers are manufactured using fossil-free electricity in Hitachi Energy’s factory in Maneja. Last year, Hitachi Energy had set targets in its Sustainability 2030 plan to become 100 percent fossil-free electricity in its own operations hitting the target in December 2021. RM

PRESS RELEASE

Navitas Solar becomes

carbon neutral solar manufacturing company

Navitas Green Solutions Pvt Ltd, one of India’s leading solar module manufacturers, has announced CARBON NEUTRALITY for CY 2021. It has received a “Silver” Badge from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on climate reporting under the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ initiative for outstanding accomplishment in managing carbon emissions.

In accordance with UN targets and Nationally Determined Contribution(NDC), Navitas Solar specialises in manufacturing high-efficiency mono and polycrystalline solar modules ranging from 5 Watts to 600 Watts per panel, with a total installed capacity of 500 MW p.a. and expanding to 3 GW in coming years.

Navitas Solar has been providing sustainable forms of energy solutions for a decade. Navitas Solar had appointed a third-party consultant with the task of carrying out the assessment of GHG emissions, defining a methodology and calculation approach to be adopted and implementing monitoring procedures. It validated that the calculations met the specifications of the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard and the GHG protocol based on the assessment. In line with this, the consultant also declared that Navitas Solar has bought carbon credits to offset the same amount of emissions and has achieved Carbon Neutrality for the calendar year 2021. After completion of this first milestone in the field, Navitas Solar pledges to

become fully carbon neutral by 2023 and to achieve Net Zero status by 2030.

Commenting on the achievement, Vineet Mittal, Co-Founder and Director of Navitas Solar, said, "We are elated to achieve UNFCCC's Badge for carbon neutrality for 2021. We at Navitas Solar have always endeavoured to establish a sustainable organization and will keep offering valuable solutions to support the worldwide clean energy movement. In our efforts to deliver sustainable energy to society, we prioritize distributed and indigenous initiatives. As part of this mission, we regularly engage in skill development and awareness campaigns in local communities.

Governments worldwide have committed to limiting rising temperatures to 1.5°C by 2050. The United Nations has warned that breaching this limit will lead to a "highly uncertain world." To avoid it, carbon emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. In line with this, India has announced a Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to install 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, with the goal of becoming Net Zero by 2070. HEG Limited ventures into green energy with subsidiary

The Advanced Carbons Company

HEG Ltd, an LNJ Bhilwara group company, commemorating its golden 50th year in synthetic graphite manufacturing, has announced plans to invest INR 1000 Cr (appx.) over the next 3 years to set up a manufacturing facility of graphite anode for lithium–ion batteries. The upcoming plant will cater to 10-12 GWh of cell manufacturing capacity and the investment will be executed through its newly incorporated, wholly-owned subsidiary: The Advanced Carbons Company (TACC).*

The investment, according to HEG, will be made in two phases:

• Phase 1 expected to be operational by 2025 with an investment of INR 1000 Cr(appx)

• In Phase 2, the Company plans to double the capacity with another INR 1000 Cr(appx)

• The Company aims to finish both the phases in the next 5-7 years, thanks to its decades of experience in the graphite and advanced carbon chemistry fields

• HEG Limited is likely to create 400 new jobs with this project

The importance of anode:

• One of the most crucial elements in the production of cells, accounting for roughly 10-15% of the cost, is the graphite anode

• For every GWh of Li-ion cell production, 1,100 tonnes of graphite anode is needed. Synthetic graphite anode offers improved performance and uniformity and has gradually eclipsed natural graphite as an anode material for Li-ion batteries

• Currently, Li-ion cells are either imported directly as assembled battery packs from China / Taiwan or they are imported before being manufactured into batteries in India

• The lithium-ion battery, which makes up 40–50% of the overall cost, is the most expensive part of an electric car. When graphite anodes are made available in India, the cost of cell production will decrease. It’ll also help in advancing India’s green energy goals and achieve net zero emissions by 2070

• The Company plans to play a significant part in making India carbon neutral.

• The Indian government's PLI scheme mandates 60% domestic value addition for cell production. Anode material produced in the country will be essential in meeting this requirement.

Mr. Riju Jhunjhunwala, Vice Chairman, HEG Ltd, said, “With Project TACC our goal is to accelerate India's push towards green energy, with a primary focus on improved carbon materials that support green energy in addition to graphite anodes.

Only China and Japan are the major producers of anode materials at the moment. More than 90% of the market is controlled by businesses in these two nations. The LNJ Bhilwara Group will be making a modest contribution to India's ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ project with its investment in anode.”

Mr. Ankur Khaitan, MD and CEO, TACC, added, “India has enormous potential for large-scale battery production; it is anticipated that by 2030, the country's annual market for stationary and mobile batteries will have surpassed $15 billion, with a demand increase of 260 GWh (as per Niti Aayog Report). One such measure that supports this market is the government's recently announced production-linked incentive scheme. Additionally, it would work as a motivator to increase India's capacity for battery production. With this expansion, the business is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for the raw ingredients needed to make batteries.”

The company intends to build TACC as a cutting-edge facility on more than 100 acres of land, where it would set up an anode plant with a production capacity of 20,000 metric tonnes per year. The building will have a specialised innovation centre for creating new carbon derivative materials, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes, for use in green energy applications.

India would need batteries with a capacity of about 60 GWh by 2025, and 260 GWh by 2030, according to government estimates. India is one of the most promising markets for anodes, and the global opportunities continue to be a desirable route.

Globally, the anticipated rise is considerably greater, and by 2030, it's estimated that more than 3300 GWh of yearly manufacturing of li-b cells will be in vogue. RM

REI Special "Brief"

ADANI SOLAR

In a remarkable and short conversation with Mr. Rahul Bhutiani, Head Sales & Marketing, Adani Solar, and knowing more about the insights of REI-2022 experience, footfall, product launch, adapting to new technology, plans, and conveying a message to their customers...

Product launch and expectations...

Our expectation from this event is to clearly get to meet or interact with all our potential existing customers and channel partners, and it’s definitely a platform where we can all get together and understand each other the nuances of this industry, how things will progress, and how it will look for us. With respect to what we are showcasing here, we have expanded our capacity. We are now moving from 2 GW to 4 GW. We are setting up the facility with the Top-con technology, which is a high-efficiency module. That’s what we are showcasing at this event.

Adani Solar’s industrial outlook

We believe that it’s a very positive outlook for the industry and we've got it both domestically and internationally. There's a lot of demand and this is only going to grow further. So, for the players who are serious about the industry and who are drawing up plans to create a very integrated eco-system, I think the sky is the limit in terms of the potential.

Current challenges...

In the last few years, we’ve faced challenges in the supply chain disruption, whether it was related to COVID, shipping lines, when containers were not available, and that was like a wake-up call for everyone, and we are responding in our own way, where we are creating this entire value eco system for solar manufacturing that kind of gives us independence from the imports from the entire supply chain, so that’s what we are focusing on. This is the real challenge the industry faces.

New opportunities that you see for the solar industry...

A very clear opportunity on the immediate horizon is the huge requirement that will come up as the country and internationally most towards green hydrogen in a big way. So, green energy is primarily solar energy. There will be a huge demand because of the green hydrogen plans by various players in the country

and internationally.

Adani Solar's current use of new technology allows Three things that are really important currently are:

• How do we make our supply chain independent of all the uncertainties that are in exports?

• We are setting up our tracker facilities, which will enable us to offer our clients higher efficiencies through the tracker, which will be able to better capture the sun's rays as it moves across the horizon.

• We are doing our little bit within the manufacturing ecosystem. We are trying to bring digitalization in a big way by focusing on ESG, sustainability, and governance to ensure that we are able to create a manufacturing setup that is efficient and effective.

Other technologies (AI and ML)

AI (Artificial intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) is our sister concern which is into generations, Adani Green Energy is definitely using that in a big way. We are looking at mining data in a better way so that we can be more efficient in our manufacturing operations. Our machines are already equipped to learn, and the ML, in that way, is already integrated within the system that we are creating, but data analytics is a very important area that we are focusing on at Adani Solar to ensure that we learn from our experiences and create a manufacturing setup that is very efficient and effective.

A Message for Customers

We believe that the opportunity is huge in front of us and this is the right time for us to focus on creating an eco system to be able to make India energy secure. All of us, whether it is manufacturers, EVC players, or developers, come together to ensure that India becomes energy secure in the coming times and meets the vision.

MR.

In an exceptional and short brief with Mr. Honey Raza, Head- Sales (India), Ginlong (Solis) Technologies, and knowing more about the insights of REI-2022 experience, footfall, product launch, adapting to new technology, plans, and conveying a message to their customers...

Expectations

Last time, we were very positive about REI because this is the biggest event of the renewable energy sector. The previous year, we got a very good response from REI. The last two days were jampacked with one-on-one meetings and a lot of great deals we’ve closed. The pipeline is very vast for India. What we think will happen once this ALMM and other changes in law for module procurement and duties have been eased out by the government, so now the implementation stage will be there in the projects. Solis is hoping that it will be very positive for next year as well as the remaining years.

Footfall…

In particular, almost 500 to 600 per day of footfall were there at the Solis booth. It’s about to close but we’ve attended 400 people today alone. At the same, we’ve seen a lot of enthusiasm for project closure intentions and we hope that it will definitely turn into the implementation stage.

Product launch and key features…

This year there is a buzz about the storage market, so we have a good product in storage at 10KV, and we have another advanced utility product at 255+ modal. This product has a better complaint and algorithm with the help of the CERC guidelines, which have been launched by the government of India, as well as a lot of good inputs that we have from NTPC. Recently, we have secured one good and esteemed project from NTPC. With their technical team, we’ve advanced our product, and now we have 255+ modalities. In the grid-tight segment, we already have

a fast-moving product of 100KW for which we have good demand due to the certain disruption in the power electronics, especially the IGBT’s. So, the pipeline is huge and supply is disrupted. By November onwards, it would also improve.

New opportunities for the solar sector...

Due to the government initiative, green hydrogen along with integration with solar energy is coming into a very big in the same manner; they've got a lot of storage BSS solutions which are coming up. So, we see opportunities for both segments to grow and rise, and the next five years will be crucial for these two segments.

Plans for 2023

As of now, we are aiming for a 70 percent share of the C & I residential segment and a 30 percent share of the utility segment for next year. We have already commissioned 350 megawatts in the utility segment this year, and nearly 500 megawatts in the C & I segment. Next year, we are planning that it should reach at least 1 gigawatt for utility and 1 gigawatt for rooftop.

A Message for Customers

Since there is good news which is coming from the module side, we are also hopeful that the shortage of semi-conductor will ease out. By November onwards, we will see a new horizon which is there for the inverter segment and in price. We could see that the prices would remain the same and not rise as we’ve seen in the last two quarters. We are hopeful that we'll be able to achieve or close some good deals.

Q.What are your expectations from the 2022 REI Expo?

We have all been awaiting the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo for the past two to three years. We needed a crowd and foot traffic, which the event provided. Our booth is thoughtfully positioned in a prominent area so we can draw more attention to ourselves and experience high levels of foot traffic. From this exhibition, we were able to obtain both a lot of traffic and orders.

In terms of adopting new technologies, the challenges mostly relate to policy uncertainty, investors' faith in specific technologies, and the government's lengthy evaluation of all policies in light of their adaptability. We expect that with the cooperation of many stakeholders, the government will adopt a holistic perspective and make decisions concerning the growth of the sector and the growth of the stakeholders jointly. The government also delays adoption and announces new projects announcements very late.

Q.

We anticipate that similar laws will be implemented in India as they are in other countries throughout the globe that favour developers, producers, new technology, and high-efficiency products. The Indian government should in some ways adopt policies that are beneficial to reducing the cost of energy production, favorable for high-efficiency products, and for establishing a manufacturing base in India, as these policies will help India reach its target of 250 to 300 gigaton by the time we reach net zero targets.

Q.

What are Jinko Solar's plans for future investments?

In terms of our current global output, we are a 45–50 gigawatt company. We aim to reach 100 gigawatts yearly capacity over the following two to three years, and we have plans to reach 70 gigawatts by next year.

We have already sold out almost 8 gigawatts of modules for India; our targets for annual growth have been around 30% for the last seven to eight years; we have now reached this level; we anticipate being able to sell roughly 7 to 10 gigawatts in the next two to three years and slightly surpass a level of 15 to 20 gigawatts in that range for Indian installation capacity after that.

Q.What are the current challenges, both in India and globally?

What goals have you set for 2023?

We have a great deal of optimism for the upcoming year because, as we look back on the process and the lessons we've learned from the pandemic, we want to put those teachings into practice in 2023. We have also developed new technologies during these trying times, and we want to implement all of them and experience the growth that COVID-19 has prevented for a very long period. We must now resume our growing pace. Therefore, 2023 looks to be a bright year for all of us. With the help of the government, investors, and developers, we want to break records and introduce cutting-edge innovations to the nation.

Q.

What else would you like to say to our readers and your customers?

We feel incredibly honored that our customers not only appreciated our products but also embraced new technologies. We are grateful to our customers in that they have consistently presented us with chances and challenges that we make an effort to meet. They should be aware that we constantly release new technologies. The N-Type era will be characterised by the upcoming years. N-Type cell technology was invented by Jinko, and we've previously introduced it in India. As a result, we expect that our clients will adopt this new technology in the same way that they have previously adopted older technologies and benefited from them for their projects. RM

Q.Was your expectation met by REI Expo 2023?

This is a fantastic event, and particularly following COVID-19, I found this platform to be very helpful for business relationships. This year, we had a large number of attendees. We were glad to be there since it was a wonderful experience.

Q.What are the latest projections for India's renewable energy market?

In India, there is a large potential for the renewables industry. We currently have a very significant solar mission, which is backed by the Indian government, and the honourable Prime Minister is actively promoting the solar industry. The market for renewable energy will experience a rise thanks to the hydrogen mission.

The largest source of power for green energy is hydrogen. India will therefore become the global leader in this sector as it continues to grow.

In addition, we already hold the #1 spot in the ISA sector. So even though people in our country don't know enough about renewable energy, we're still doing a great job. Our teams from ISA and NTPC are travelling to many nations and collaborating with those that lack solar power but have a renewable energy source.

Parallel to this, in India, the corporate sector, the government sector, and the majority of stakeholders are all cooperating to ensure that the Indian economy thrives, that everyone has access to green power, that we can fill any power gaps, convert as much power as possible into renewable energy, and protect the environment.

Q.What challenges specifically do you think the Indian renewable energy market is now facing?

India has been on hold for the past seven to eight months due to various legislative changes and tariff charges. We faced these difficulties as a module provider because we weren't receiving

orders, and developers did too because they couldn't commit the project because the modules weren't available and were expensive and subject to duty.

I'm hoping that these issues will be resolved quickly because India will have a sizable installation capacity by 2023 and we have a supportive government that will support existing projects and find other ways to lower duty prices. As a result, we anticipate great business opportunities going forward.

Q. What notable achievements did your business achieve in 2022?

We performed admirably in the US, Europe and other nations where markets are developing in 2022. We are expanding our manufacturing facilities in response to our growth in different markets. Unfortunately, we only provided 2 Gigawatts of modules to developers in India. We are currently supplying 50 gigawatts of capacity there this year and intend to increase that amount in the future.

The development of N-type technology, a top knot technology that is vastly superior to or an enhanced version of solar panels and will increase the LCOE of the projects and thus the returns on the projects, is the key highlight of 2022 for Jinko. In a nutshell, both developers and suppliers benefit from this circumstance. We are promoting these N-type modules in every market since it would reduce the material cost of the projects, which will enhance their economics. In India, we already have BIS. We collaborate with a variety of N-type technology developers. We specifically hope for a strong market in India in 2023 because developments there have been put on hold because of duty fees and other unforeseen circumstances. These are becoming clearer thanks to a new clarification on legislation changes by the Ministry. Which initiatives are governed by rules and which ones are not are now crystal obvious. In light of all these clarifications, projects will begin to be commissioned once more, and this will be how business will once again grow. Therefore, we anticipate that 14 to 15 gigawatts of projects will be put into service in 2023, which is a respectable amount for India. RM

In A Remarkable And Short Conversation With Mr. Shantanu Sirsath, Technical Head (India), Growatt New Energy, And Knowing More About The Insights Of Rei-2022 Experience, Product Launch, New Opportunities For Solar Market, Challenges, And Conveying A Message To Their Customers…

New product launch…

This year we are basically launching three new products

1. EV Charger: In that, we are coming up with single and three-phase EV chargers along with DC chargers. In single phase, we have a capacity of and 7 kilowatts, where as in three phase, it is 11 and 22 kilowatts. A fast DC charger is rated at 40 kilowatts.

2. Hybrid Inverter : This is a very interesting product. It starts with the WIT series, which starts onwards up to 100 kilowatts.

3. Portable power source: this can give an output of up to 2000 watts with a battery backup of 1.5 KWH. So, these are the three new products that we have launched at REI.

We are rigorously promoting our utility-based inverters that are 250 and 253 kilowatts, along with the C&I inverters that are 100 and 125 kilowatts inverters.

Expectations...

After 2 years of COVID, we are having a full fledged REI-exhibition and having very high expectations from them. We’ve seen the footfall was tremendous and met all the developers, distributors, and customers. We've gathered all the leads that are required for our future businesses through this particular exhibition.

New opportunities that you see for the solar market...

Basically , Growatt is going at very good pace and the target that has been set by Gov Of India of 500GW is very ambitious, but the overall momentum is good and we are expecting very good opportunities.

Challenges that solar industry is facing currently…

There are some supply chain issues and what we can say is a shortage of semi-conductor devices, but as a global company, we have already overcome those challenges and we have pretty good stock for all the semi-conductors that are required for the inverters.

Other technologies (AI, ML or Data analytics)

Growatt has their own smart energy management system which is based on analytical data IoT and, basically, this particular management is very useful for our customers and business partners. The integration of AI will definitely help us to reduce overall operations and maintenance time.

Experience

The first two days were very hectic, and we were very happy to have had such a good crowd this year. The main intention of this particular participation was to have good interaction with all our existing customers along with the new ones. I think we’ve achieved a particular goal.

A Message for Customers

This year Growatt is going to celebrate 10 years in the Indian market. The future of green and sustainable green energy and the future is Growatt. RM

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. Sumit Mehta, Co-founder & Director, PIXON Energy Ltd., he spoke about expectations, future outlook, highlights of the company, and much more.

Expectations from REI Expo 2022

To be honest, it's a wonderful event, we hope to receive positive feedback and a good response.

The challenges of the Renewable Energy Sector of India

As an Indian PV manufacturer, I think that one of the major problems we are having is the absence of a uniform policy and problems with implementation. In addition, a number of problems need to be resolved, such as preventing delays in land acquisition, insufficient R&D spending, and many more. We will have the ability to manufacture 1 Gigawatt module as well as EVA and POE Films by January or February 2023.

The key offerings of PIXON to its customers

PIXON provides a wide range of modules under the following categories:

• Mono- Crystalline Perc Modules.

• Poly- Crystalline Modules.

• Poly- Crystalline DCR Modules.

• Mono-Crystalline Perc Half-Cut Cell Modules. PIXON also has a 1 GW manufacturing line for EVA Film and other materials. We

are going to launch an exclusive range of Multi-Busbar Modules and Half-cut cell modules with 1 GW capacity manufactured with the latest European technology.

Take on recent policies on the Renewable Energy Sector in India and globally!

The main thing we anticipate from the policies of the government is a clear vision and policy of tenure to support the fluctuations of the market and rates. The demand for renewable energy, whether it be solar or any other renewable energy, has been vigorously elevated by the Indian government. As a result, it has very comprehensive policies, and the demand has also increased. If these policies are put in place, India will become a manufacturing hub for the global market.

The hopes for 2023

Huge hopes and high stakes go hand in hand. Everything is going well, and we are optimistic about what the future holds.

The message to the customers

Particular message from PIXON: Given the scarcity of fossil fuels, we would like to urge people to initiate the use of renewable resources as much as they can in their daily life.

ENERGY

A crisp and remarkable conversation with Mr. Vikrant Verma, Vice President Product Development, Patanjali Renewable Energy, he talks about his expectations from REI, USP of the brand, investment plans and much more!

What are you expecting from this REI EXPO 2022?

We want to explore more in REI EXPO so people can get to know that Patanjali is also well established in Renewable energy sector as many people come to us and wonder that Patanjali is also present and dominating the Renewable energy sector so this event is helping us to tap more potential customers. Recently we are operating in three states but we are planning to expand into 11 to 12 states.

What are the recent launches of Patanjali and what are the USP of these products?

As we know most of the brands have similar product launches but Patanjali is adding value to its products as no one offers MPT but when we launched our inverters we gave MPT under 900 VA, we are offering BLDC fans that are energy efficient. Patanjali’s solar induction is seeing a good demand in the market which is of 750 watts. Additionally, we have launched 5 Kilowatts hybrid solar induction which is the most

unique offering of our company in India. Our R&D team is constantly working on how we can offer products uniquely than other brands.

What are the future investment plans of Patanjali?

As Acharya stated that we are going to invest in different segments like shell manufacturing, panel manufacturing (automatic 1 gigawatt plant). We have 10 thousand crore budget for the upcoming years in the Renewable energy sector.

What are the challenges faced by the Renewable energy sector & Solar industry?

In past, we used to face so many difficulties but now things are better as we don’t need to explain too much to the people that what is the renewable energy, people are now aware of the opportunities of solar industry. RM

RENEWABLE ENERGY

''The aim of the Patanjali Renewable Energy is to make India’s fossil fuel free nation by harnessing the energy from the natural resources and our biggest aim is to lighten up every house with Patanjali solar.''

What are your hopes from this REI EXPO 2022?

My biggest hope from this event is to make people aware about the objectives of our company so we can protect our mother earth as we all are contributing to the emissions by consuming fossil fuels. We should opt for solar instead of fossil energies.

What are the challenges of Renewable Energy sector in India specially?

The major challenge is that solar power is still not in the reach of the middle class if it could have then we could see solar panels on the top of every roof in India.

Government has already given subsidies and upgrade the plans but still we need to work on making it pocket friendly and affordable to the middle class.

What is the future outlook of the Renewable Energy sector?

The future is bright and the people is moving towards the green energy as they are getting aware of the consequences on the environment. I feel in the coming years not only in India but globally it is going to be a popular segment.

What are the future investment plans of Patanjali?

As you all can see here at the REI EXPO that we have launched solar cook top till now only we were aware of the solar lights and other common products but in today’s time we can see that Patanjali invented a new product that is completely unique in the market. In the coming years, we will come with more such unique products. India as a nation is blessed with “Anant Urja Srot” and we must utilize it at the maximum.

Expectations

This mega event is happening after three years so this became a grand event because there are lot of people whom we haven’t met from last three and half years and finally after three years we are meeting so this place become where we can build our business relationship again after a certain gap, there are people with whom we have been discussing things over telephones now we are meeting so this is a great event to build bonds.

Marketing Strategy

We are mainly divided and focused into two parts till date one is pumping and other is rooftop solar. Our earlier major focus was pumping but now we are shifted to rooftop and now we are going for mega projects also! We have supplied 7 megawatt ground monitor rooftop projects in Gujarat and now again we are going to opt for 15 megawatt project so the marketing strategy we have distinguished it and there are different types of projects we have divided total products into four categories – 75 watts which is used for street lights, 150 watts which is used for home light system and small products which are used in home appliances and third one is- Rooftop segment where 300 watts are used and other segment is pumping where 300-350 watts are used. This is how we have divided our products into different segments for the market.

USP of Icon Solar

Our USP is the relationship with our customers, I can assure you that for last eight years we are into the market and for the last eight years, our cliental should be 90 per cent retained 10 per cent might have left due to some reasons which cannot avoid rest 90 per cent are with us, we are delivering good quality

products time bases with a good purchase price. So this is our USP.

The current challenge of Renewable Energy Sector

Actually for last six months the problem was duty, duty was to motivate the module manufacturers but the problem which came was there were lot of people who had taken the advantage before the duty so, the purchasing was quite slow for the last six months so now the inventory is vanishing and we will be able to deliver at a better quality product at better rates.

The highlights of your company in product range

In product range, we have launched 550 watts and Mono PERC, we will be going to produce 600 watts’ modules also that will be bi-facial and then in one and half year, we are going for Heterojunction technology so this is the latest range of products which will be launched within a span of one year divided into 3 quarters.

Please convey your message to your customers

We are thankful to our customers that they have been associated with us for such a long period of time. Our customers are with us since the beginning, the first order which we delivered that customers are still associated with us and this is our USP and all thanks to all of them. RM

ICON SOLAR -EN POWER TECHNOLOGIES PVT. LTD.
REI
MR. SHAKTI KUMAR DUBEY DIRECTOR

A crisp and remarkable conversation with Mr. Tarang Khurana, Director of Icon Solar-en Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd., talks about the expectations from REI Expo 2022, current challenges and opportunities, future plans, and much more!

Expectations

The major expectation from REI is reaching out to lot of people that we hadn’t got a chance to, it’s happening after two to three years so this is a fantastic platform to connect, grow, network and re-establishing relationships which have been there for so long.

Current possibilities of Renewable Energy sector in India

India’s growth story with Renewable energy is very well known across the globe, people are realizing the potential of Indian Renewable Energy in which particularly solar power will play a massive role guided by the P’s vision and also to grow ‘Atam Nirbhar’ this will be very impactful not only for the coming years but for the coming generations.

Current policies of Renewable Energy sector in India

I think current policies are favorable to the Indian domestic manufacturers, it will take some time come into proper execution and that is okay because it takes time in implanting policies. The government is doing lot in order to encourage solar industry in disputed form like solar pumps, solar lights, etc. which is where we think there is lots of potential and should be effectively utilized.

The future investment plans of Icon Solar

Icon Solar so for the last eight years is the largest manufacturer of photovoltaic panels, going forward doubling our capacity and starting with the monocarp line where we will have a multiples buzz bar modules going up to 600 watts

The highlights of your company in 2022

It has been a fantastic year till now, it’s our highest grossing year for the time being as we know the last two quarters of solar are always the busiest so we are hoping for the best and our expansion plans are also underway and this time around we have also started executive projects so we have gone in to forward integration and have a massive order from the government of India and ‘PM Kusum Yojana’ so that’s been a great benefit to us.

The current challenges of Renewable Energy sector

Technology adoption and technology change because a technology change that takes five years now takes a year so for lot of people especially medium scale it becomes quite difficult to adopt to the constant changing technology because solar is capital investment and operationally expensive. Hence, the technology adoption as the India’s growth story happens and we move from technology adopters to technology movers, I think we will be in much a better place.

One change you want to see in the Renewable energy sector in India

I think lots of focus should be given to the medium scale industry as well right now a lot of orientation is towards the large scale industry like PLI scheme or other government incentives, I think the MSE segment contributes a lot to the economy so there should be favorable policy changes in that favor as well because they actually help to cater the ‘Bharat’ (rural area) where solar will have a massive outreach forward.

Hopes for 2023

For 2023, we hope to establish footprint with new line of mono perk modules and also be looking forward to go overseas and start our export market too. RM

Q. How was your experience at the REI Expo 2022?

The experience is fantastic. We’ve been re gulars at REI for several years and this year our experience has no difference; excellent footfall, it’s a good platform where we meet our customers, suppliers, media, and also our competitors. It’s a platform where all of us meet, and we are very happy. REI is the largest show for renewable energy in India. We are very committed to participating every year.

Q. Is there any product launch from Saatvik’s side, and what are the key features of that product?

We started producing mono-pe r half-cut modules early this year and we are showcasing a per ALMM. We are one of the very few who have certified 595 Watts. We are amongst the one or two manufacturers who have also bi-facial in ALMM. So, we are showcasing that and also our future technologies that are all showcased here. These are the products that will drive us to our next phase of growth.

Q. What are the new opportunities that you see for the solar industry?

New opportunities for the solar industry I would say, in terms of manufacturing, the market is very ripe now and the market size earlier was 10–12 Gigawatts, but with 500 Gigawatts of renewable energy, out of which 300 Gigawatts of solar has to happen till 2030. We are looking at a market size of about 25 to 30 gigawatts year on year, so it’s a massive jump and we are all geared up, so that is the opportunity which the market is throwing to all manufacturers as a challenge. It also means that, with this kind of market size, you have to have an eco-system to supply these kinds of volumes in this market. So, it's not only panel manufacturing but a lot of people like us, who are integrating backwards and forwards, so we are getting into cell manufacturing. Others who are also looking into wafer-poly silicon manufacturing along with this value chain no doubt will also be there. So, we are looking at a gamet of the entire eco-system for solar energy which will not only be supplying to the Indian market, but I think India is going to become a hub for solar equipment and will become a potential alternative, or I would say even better alternative, to China for the US, Europe, and other international markets. Other things in terms of opportunity from the project side are storage. It is becoming cheaper and cheaper, solar-perc plus storage that has one opportunity, solar wind hybrid. Those kinds of hybrid projects are also becoming popular where standalone systems operate when the sunlight is not there. So those kinds of hybrid systems are getting popular. Solar and renewable energy are now getting into a second stage where two or three different technologies will be produced as a combination. These are the future technologies.

Q. What are the challenges that the solar industry is facing currently? In terms of challenges, what we see is that BCD was announced six months ago, a lot of imports happened, prices inc reased,

dollar fluctuation happened, the global energy sector is going on, a supply chain crisis has happened in the last six to eight months that has increased prices in the market, customers are very price sensitive, and it’s a long period for projects. So, the project prices and panel prices are very important because solar is considered the cheapest form of energy producer right now, and if that makes customers delay their purchases, projects get delayed, so all that is happening. These are all after-effects of a big change that happened in the industry. I think this is temporary and it will be sorted out shortly.

Q. What is the Saatvik’s Industrial Outlook?

Excellent! There’s no doubt, as I said, th at it’s a very bright future for the solar industry. We are very committed to being a formidable player. Last year, we were ranked in the top 3-4 manufacturers in India, and we will continue to be among the top 5 manufacturers. We’ll continue to increase our capacities to bring the best quality product to markets where highly efficient products are available. So, that’s what we are committed to.

Q. What are your plans for 2023?

We increased our revenues three times last year; this year we are going to double our revenues again, and we plan to do it again next year. So, as I said, we are committed because economies of scale will happen only when there is a size and scale of operations.

So, next year, our plan is to bring even better products to the market, and so we are looking at bringing Top-Con technology into this market, and we are also doing EPC now. So, the biggest contributor to an EPC project is solar panels, so as a solar panel manufacturer, we feel that we have a better control on the cost and we can faster execute a project in a more cost effective way than others who do not have control on the panel cost, so we are also increasing our presence there, and as I said, we are also getting into cell manufacturing with the government and support continues for this industry, so we have no doubt that next year we will be a cell producer and a panel producer both.

Q. Is there any message that you want to convey to your customers?

My message is very simple. I think being in a price sensitive market, I understand, but I think what's important is that with so many options available, you need to evaluate your product better than just price. I think it is important because it is a product that has to last 25 years. So, be very prudent with what you are buying and ask for better quality and better quality checks on the product rather than price. So, because ultimately you get what you pay for. I think it is important that the market understands that quality is what is going to be important.

Projects have to be implemented with a lot of safety; I think these are infrastructure projects with a lot of safety hazards for workers. So, we deploy the best safety measures in our factory and our projects. I think it is important that all safety measures are taken for any product or project being manufactured and completed

What were your expectations and experience

This REI has again come into its own zone after two years and people from the past Covid era have started coming back again. With this forum, all the customers and vendors are able to meet on an open platform. So, it was a great experience and the footfall that we’ve observed since the last two days was really great. We had very good interactions with all the customers and are really looking forward to converting that into good business also.

What is the new technology LONGi is working currently?

In LONGi, being a torch bearer with mono-perc technology globally So, we are also coming up with the different technologies we are working on, like HJT Beat, P-Type, and some new developments in N-type. In fact, LONGi already launched one of the N-Type modules at the end of last year. However, we foresee some more evolution has to be done and cost optimization is yet to be achieved. So, at this moment, LONGi will remain with P-Type technology and try to work more on the efficiency and reliability part. There’s a plan with HJT technology but not with immediate effect but down the line in the next two years.

Is there any plan to launch new product in the market?

As I mentioned, we will continue with this same technology. However, we are increasing our power from 540 to 550 or going forward to 560 also. We began supplying these Hi-MO 5 modules two years ago and have since supplied nearly 30 Gigawatts of Hi-MO 5 modules globally. Hopefully, we may come up with a new version of the same model, kind of Hi-MO 6 with some better efficiency.

What are the new opportunities that you see for solar industry?

In fact, India is a huge market and has great potential. LONGi has also ventured

into the hydrogen business, where we are one of the manufacturers of electrolyzers that will be required for green hydrogen generation. We currently have a capacity of 500 megawatts, and we see a huge opportunity for green hydrogen business in the future. So, we might come up with our electrolyzer product in the Indian market also. Along with the modules, a new product category, the electrolyzer, will be introduced. It's a sort of combo product for the Indian market wherein we will be contributing towards the green hydrogen generation, which is again the nation’s mission.

What are challenges that solar industry is facing?

The solar industry is facing a lot of challenges currently because of so many policy changes with the implementation of BCD. Most of the projects got stuck, but yes, we are looking forward. Most of the IPPs are also working on a different approach with the MNRE. They are also trying to work out some new ways out. There is a long-term plan to come up with a factory, and we are also hopeful that things will get sorted out. We will also come up with a new factory line in the next 2 to 3 years.

Do LONGi participate in CSR activities?

LONGi has supplied modules for one of Akshardham's CSR projects, and we would like to be associated with various IPP's and EPP's where we can contribute from our end for specific projects or opportunities.

Any message that you want to convey for your customers?

I would like to convey a message through this forum that LONGi is here for the long run and we have a team of close to 20 people in India. We do have plans for manufacturing in India. With new technology as well as new products like electrolyzer or with the new HJT technology or certain additional better efficiency products in P-Type technology, we would like to serve Indian customers in the long run. So, we are here to stay for the long run.

I think it's been a long break since we had all of the global brands under one roof in India because of various issues that we have seen in the past two years. So this is a great opportunity for everyone to reconnect and understand what the new products and services are! On a personal level, we can also understand in which ways we can deliver better.

According to you, what are the challenges and opportunities of the Renewable Energy industry in India?

Right now, the entire industry is dealing with BCD issues of duties. We have duties, tariff barriers, non-tariff barriers for imports which has been slowing down the growth of the solar optic in India over the past 5 and 6 months but we are expecting some clarity in a couple of months. Probably after that we should see the industry bloom again after difficult years.

What are the highlights of LONGI in 2022?

We are once again declared as World's largest module manufacturer globally and nationally so we got a 65 Gigawatts manufacturing capacity out of which we have done about 45 Gigawatts of sales in terms of modules last year and

in India we have done 3.8 Gigawatts module supplies. This year since the industry is hit by a lot of roadblocks, we haven't matched the highest number as per the last year but have done much better than in 2020. So I feel we would continue to be the market leader in terms of technology and manufacturing.

What are the future investment plans of LONGI?

We will continue to expand our manufacturing from 65 Gigawatts to 70-80 Gigawatts by next year. In terms of manufacturing also we are at 105 Gigawatts now that would expand by 10 to 15 percent so overall we will continue to remain the market leader in terms of manufacturing and technology. We are waiting for the next transition to happen so it plays an important role or will be a driving force to transition the industry from this Poly to Mono Perc technology and I think by next year or by 2024, we should have a technology in hand which should help in this transition.

Do you want to convey any message to your customers?

First I would like to thank our customers here in India and globally for having trust in us. We entered the market of modules late in 2015 only. Besides the fact we have been in the mono crystalline market from the year 2000 so over the past years we have seen vertical growth and we went from being 500 megawatts to 65 Gigawatts line so the growth has been phenomenal and that's the direct result of customer's faith in us. A big thank you to all the customers. RM

Q. What were your expectations from REI- 2022?

I believe that this REI has been very successful this year. The footfall as well as the quality of people that have come has been excellent this year. We are very happy to be exhibiting in this big fat exhibition. We’ve gathered a lot of information and expectations from the customers. So, overall we are very happy and satisfied.

Q. Any new product launch from TBEA?

TBEA as a company is innovative and improvement is in our DNA, so every REI we try to come up with better and new products that are in the market. This year we have come up with three different products: Two are with the inverters where we’ve come up with better optimised sizes. In central inverters we've come up with 4.4 Megawatt inverters and in string inverters we've come up with a 360 Kilowatt inverter. Apart from that, TBEA as an organisation is also working on the quality of the power, so in that regard, we are coming up with our SVG products which improve the overall quality both in terms of harmonics as well as grid stability. These are the three new major launches in this REI.

Q. What are the new opportunities that you see for the solar industry?

Solar power in India is one of the industries that are growing at a great pace. Last year, I believe that India did solar installations of somewhere around 10 to 11 gigawatts. This year, till August 31st, we have already reached 8.5 gigawatts and we hope that by December we will be somewhere between 13 to 14 gigawatts of installed base. Overall, industry & opportunities are growing and TBEA is looking forward to these opportunities. We have started our India operations in Bangalore and we are very happy to share with all our customers that now we are also supporting the local ‘Make in India’ initiative as per the government of India and we are supplying India from our factory in Bangalore.

Q. How TBEA is supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat?

The Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative was one of the key points that gave us an idea that we should do more and more production and involve local talent. So, we set up our factory in Bangalore, trying to do maximum local procurement and talent development.

Q. What are the challenges that solar industry is facing currently?

Challenges will always be there whenever a market that is growing at an extraordinary and exponential rate will always have some pluses and minuses. For example, a couple of challenges we are facing are more or less geo-political and for suppliers, there is a shortage of semi-conductors in the IGBTs. Similarly, there is a possibility that any other geo-political issue happens throughout the globe because now the entire world is connected as one, but we believe that we've got a very positive outlook and these small hiccups in supply chains should settle down.

Q. How TBEA is contributing in CSR activities?

In terms of CSR, we have our own department. We are doing it at two levels:

• Whenever we are putting up our plants, our team is going. We try to educate and train new talent in the local area by giving them the right knowledge and telling them how they can get connected to the solar industry.

• At our factor and offices at the group level, TBEA is doing several activities both in supporting women's empowerment, where we teach them how they can get connected to the solar sector, how to get independent financially, and in the education part.

Q. How TBEA is supporting women empowerment?

• We have two initiatives towards women's empowerment. One is to help them get an education because we believe if a mother of a household gets her education, she will educate the rest of the family.

• TBEA employees who are all associated with TBEA directly as well as indirectly. We are encouraging them to get connected with the banking system. For example, for our suppliers or sub-suppliers or anybody who is working with us, we make sure that all the benefits are going directly to the banks so that they can get connected to the national system and economy and become part of it.

Q.

Is there any message that you want to convey to your customers?

We would like to thank all our customers for the support they have given us and for all the trust they have shown in us. We will continue to do our good work and to be a responsible company, and together we will create a green economy. RM

Special "BRIEF"

SOLEX ENERGY

LIMITED

What were your expectations from this mega event?

There were a lot of expectations for this big event because, well, this is happening after a break of 2 years. So, 2019 was a good event where the solar programme in India was at a peak. Due to COVID, there is a break of almost about 2 years. 2022 We were expecting to meet industry colleagues again. A lot of things have changed, new developments, new technology compared to 2019. I think this is a great event and it's really good to see everyone back to normal, talking to each other without a face mask, something which is very important. We can see that confidence in the industry again, that vibrancy, and that enthusiasm is back again.

What kind of footfall you are getting?

In terms of footfall, I would say this time there are so many crowds. In 2019, there was a mixed crowd of B2B, consumers and customers, but this time because it is happening after a very long gap, it is predominantly B2B, and from all the states, from all corners of the country, people have come. Chinese companies were unable to participate for various reasons, but new segments from Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia were added.

What SOLEX is all about?

SOLEX is the oldest solar panel manufacturing company in India. We started manufacturing solar panels way back in 2017. In the solar business, we have been in business for almost 25 years. We are celebrating 25 years now. We were doing solar water heating systems earlier and then turned into photovoltaics. We are a real estate company listed on the stock exchange and we’ve taken up a measure programme initiative to expand our capacity. At present, our 2 Gigawatt facility is ready, and 1 line is already operational. We are scaling it up to 4 gigawatts by December 2023, and then we have a cell line programme also. Till now, the measure thrust was on EPC, the government programmes. Now the focus has changed to manufacturing. So, we are looking forward to SOLEX being the leading brand in India and worldwide.

What is SOLEX market reach in India and as well as globally

We are active in 13 states right now. We have projects going on in 13 states. So, practically our reach is all across the country, and we are expanding our reach to the Middle-East, Europe, and the U.S.

Is there any new product launch from your side?

We’ve launched our multi-bus bar modules at 550 watts and our facility capability to manufacture modules up to 700 watts. So, that’s what current operational capacity is. We are also expanding our cell line HJT and Top-Con capability.

Do SOLEX contribute in CSR activities?

Solex, out of the total employment of the factory, 70 percent of the young people working for our company are from the tribal areas. They are all tribal and have an ITI or diploma kind of background. So, they are trained to run this highly automated plant. Basically, our preference is always to train these young students. We don’t do direct CSR, but by generating employment for these kinds of tribal youth, we do CSR. Our CSR is a sustainable programme; SOLEX is creating employment and raising them to a level. So, that’s what our objective is.

What are your plans for 2023?

We have just started our facility, setting up this facility and ramping up our facility services, having a new team, and creating a brand, taking it to the people. We are looking forward to having more activities in 2023 as well. In 2023, there will be an expansion, and then the brand will be international.

Is there any message that you want to convey to your customers?

Solex as a company, we are back. Thanks for having trust in us. Whatever the expectations are, we’ll definitely come up to the mark. RM

INTERVIEW INTERVIEW

We are an intelligent power management company primarily focused on bringing world-class solutions for medium voltage, low voltage, and the final distribution voltage.

We are in the field of power distribution as well as power quality and, going forward, Eaton is looking at bringing world-class solutions in energy transition to sustainable energy in the country. We have a manufacturing facility in Pondicherry, which is a world-class manufacturing facility where we manufacture medium voltage switchgear; we manufacture UPS, fuses, which is the best protection available, and the final distribution products.

Eaton stands for innovation and has very strong support available in India in our factory in Pondicherry, where we are able to provide customers with any and all solutions. If you are looking for uninterrupted operation of your system, Eaton is the place to go.

Q.What were your expectations from REI- 2022?

The REI is very excellent. The way we are seeing the excitement of the customers, it's creating a lot of energy. We want to showcase in the upcoming field of EV charging that the government is committed to moving from fossil fuel operated vehicles to electric operated vehicles, and in that process, while we have world-class companies who are going to manufacture EVs at the back end, this will only succeed if there is the wrong set up to charge these vehicles.

Today, anyone can expect that the charging network will be a gap, but unless there is a quality charging network, you are also putting your vehicle at rest.

So, the needs are:

1. High reliability charging

2. Build a quick infrastructure.

Eaton has a distinct advantage where we not only bring the EV charger but behind the EV charger we need a dedicated stream of power to feed the EV chargers. That is why Eaton has an end-to-end solution for the low voltage components and the medium voltage components. The advantage that it brings:

1. Global expertise

2. Most compact footprint: 11KV switchgear, possibly one of the most compact devices, and 33 KV switchgear again.

We can help our customers build a complete infrastructure right from the grid up to the charging of their vehicles.

The solar market is a very established market in India, but then the upgradation needs to be done on a very large scale. Today, the market is largely classified into the rooftop solar market and the utility solar grid market.

When we look at the rooftop solar market, the users are primarly the common man, with their trust in the system integrators. These units are required to operate for 25 years. So, naturally, they need to have components that will really live up to that life.

The second important part of solar, whether it's rooftop or utility grid, is that any loss of output is a cash loss to the companies. A switchgear component or a protection device that will not fail, which will not give any maintenance problems, is the need of our.

When calculating total cost of ownership, you will consider not only your capital expenses, but also downtime, which can be caused by poor device quality. So, keeping that in mind, I would say the solar market is there for at least the next 10 years to grow multifold. It is important that integrators use the best quality of components, whether it's PV, AC DV boxes, or whether it's the connection that goes to the grid.

In terms of commitment to the government, we definitely see that they are committed. The largest player coming up in the PV space and battery storage space, so I see a very strong future in the coming period.

Q. What kind of Footfall you are getting from this mega event?

It was very encouraging. We are getting not only the quantities but also the quality. We are really seeing people wanting to know more, whether it's the renewable part, new technologies that go into the renewables, or the EV charging, which is really generating a lot of excitement. We have a live EV charging facility outside where Tata Nexon cars have been charged, and the beauty of this is that the entire infrastructure can be configured in a day, which makes it user-friendly. We are very happy to participate in REI.

Q. Any message that you want to convey to your customers?

Focus on quality, create scale, and consider new innovations and how we can quickly bring them to India. EATON is committed to creating an infrastructure and ecosystem of like-minded companies where we can work together in the interest of bringing the best to the country. RM

OFFICER

Q. What L.S. Power is all about?

LS Power was founded by Mr. LS Yadav in the year 2000. Currently, the company is lead by Mr. Ashwani Yadav as a Director (he oversees all Manufacturing & Operations). I take care as the Chief Marketing Officer of the organization, heading the complete Sales, Marketing, Business Development & Strategy of the organization on a PAN India basis.

We are a mid-size organization. Our turnover is close to Rs. 200 crores. We do the manufacturing including complete supply, erection, testing and commissioning of practically a large number of Electrical Power Distribution Equipment. We have a very versatile infrastructure with most of the latest and modern machinery installed in our plants. Our clients are spread all across the country, and we also do exports to various different parts of the world, like the Middle East, Africa, and the Latin American region. So, we have been doing really great business with some of the leading infrastructure companies like L&T ECC, Blue Star, Sterling & Wilson, Shapoorji Pallonji etc. In fact, this event the REI, has been delayed for quite some time because of the COVID. A lot of things have not happened during the past 2 years. Today we find it really enterprising to see the people turn around in the event including the footfall at our stall. It's very encouraging for us that after a long gap of almost 2 and a half years, we are participating again in this exhibition and such an encouraging event is happening. We see the customer completely transformed. We are looking forward to more business growth because of this exhibition or participation.

Q. Is there any product launch from L.S. Power?

We have launched our 33 KV VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker) Panel. It is rated at 1250 Amperes, 36kV, STR 31.5kA. We are partners with Schneider Electric as our Principal Manufacturing Partner. So, we have utilised their VCBs and this complete panel design is in-house by L.S. Power Control, and we are probably the only manufacturers in the whole country other than the principal partners like Schneider Electric, Siemens, or ABB who have successfully tested this for Internal Arc Test at 31.5kA for 1 second. This is basically a safety test and a very expensive test. So far, none other than the OEMs has conducted this test in India. We are the first ones to do it with Schneider Electric. We have successfully tested this panel for all three chambers; the Busbar Chamber, the Cable Chamber, and the Circuit Breaker Chamber. We got this test conducted at CPRI Bangalore. We are really looking forward to a lot of business growth because of our participation. So far, we have been working with multiple solar developers and partners viz Azure Power, Cleantech Solar, Engie Solar, IB VOGT, Tata Power Solar, Renew Power, Waree Energy and so on.

Q. What are the new opportunities that you see for solar sector?

Solar seems to be growing just like anything, and earlier we found that there were very few players in India. So, the majority of Chinese players were coming in and ruling the Price Bracket but the best part today is what we can see very clearly there are ample number of Indian manufacturers as well who are also coming in a big way. This event facilitates EPCs to meet the Vendors and Manufacturers directly and all the Manufacturers to contact the EPCs and Solar Developers directly.

So this is a boon that I would like to say with a combination of buyers and suppliers participating together. Because it is practically very difficult to search for Vendors, Suppliers, EPC, Developers on the web itself. Here it's in real time we are able to meet each other. We get to understand more closely to get to understand things what exactly they are looking for. We also get to know who all the a) competing people, b) what range the competition has to offer, c) what are the new things that they are offering d) how we are positioned in comparison and e) how we can cater to the customers’ requirements. So those things are really unique.

Q. Any message that you want to convey to your customers?

L.S. Power is poised for growth. We are not going to stop here by conducting this IAC Test alone on the VCB Panel. We are a kind of organization where the stakeholders themselves are thoroughly involved, Ashwini ji himself is very encouraging and enterprising.

We have launched Unitized Package Substations which you will see most probably in ELECRAMA, which is going to happen in 2023. So, we will display all our new products and solutions, and not only this, anything that comes up in the manufacturing range of the L.S. Power that will be displayed and type tested in due course of time. This is the testimony to all our customers, and this is the message to all our customers that L.S. Power is the other name of Quality. So, we want to stay with Quality and would like to do continuous business with our customers, ensuring their utmost satisfaction with the best possible services and products available.

Q. Any challenges that solar industry is facing currently?

The first and foremost challenge is to be able to design such a product which can withstand the unique test because OEMs, as I mentioned earlier, like Schneider Electric, Siemens, and ABB, are huge brands and they really have deep pockets and it gets difficult for smaller companies to be able to spend so much. For them, conducting a test and designing in-house is not a very difficult thing, but for a small-scale industry like L.S. Power, although we are a 200 crore company, at the same time you need to understand that we are hiring some of the best engineers. We have a team of nearly 20 people in our Design team, and our R&D team have left no stone unturned to ensure that the design robustness is maintained. CPRI Bangalore, CPRI Bhopal, and CPRI Noida are some of the agencies that we frequently work with, so often that L.S. Power has become familiar with them.

So, what was the biggest challenge to ensure that this got tested successfully? Of course, these were other challenges we faced. So far during last 2 years things were only happening online and we were not able to meet our vendors, partners and customers. This event has given us an opportunity to meet real-time customers, to meet them in-person. So, that was the challenge we were facing in the past 2 and a half years, but thankfully we are back to normalcy once again. We look forward to this business growing and such events like the REI facilitating our growth.

In a noteworthy and brief conversation with Ms. Shubhra Mohanka, Director, Gautam Solar Private Limited, knowing more about the interesting insights of REI-2022 experience, product launch, and key highlights of the company…

Experience…

It has been a great first day for us. In fact, the first day looks like a second day to us. There was so much of a crowd. It was good to meet so many customers and colleagues face to-face after a long period of time.

Expectations from REI- 2022…

Domestic module manufacturing has received a boost from the government, and we’ve expanded our capacity to 400 megawatts. Gautam Solar was doing it to 1 Gigawatt and my expectations were to meet more and more people, customers, and system integrators, getting feedback for the product range that we had launched.

Product launch…

We’ve launched 595 Watt peak in bi-facial, which is the M10 line, and this is the new product that we’ve launched. It is especially good for utilities and roof tops because it can generate power from both sides. It's based on the latest technology of M10. It uses round ribbons for lower shading, and it helps system integrators and developers produce the larger voltage.

Industrial Outlook…

Industries outlook looks bright for domestic solar module manufacturers like us because net zero target have been taken under duty has been there on Chinese modules that will help to grow us and help us to establish our market.

Challenges…

Challenges could change on an every-day basis. For example, ALMM approval was

supposed to be compulsory from October onwards, but now again six month dates have been shifted, so the domestic solar module manufacturing, the duty, and ALMM, if everything is continued on a consistent basis, it will be very helpful for us.

Working on new technology, like (AI and ML)

We are mainly working on automation of our back-end processes, and we are basically developing machines that will help us automate more and more of our production processes, and I think that is what the focus is for us.

Message

Our customers are typically those who are putting up utility or solar power plants or who are looking to buy solar modules, so I think they are relying on a 25-year-old company because we’ve been there for a very long time now and we are a consistent player. And I believe Gautam Solar is one of the leading manufacturing companies.

About Gautam Solar

We are a 25-year old company. Our factory is in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, and our corporate office is in Delhi. We are offering solar modules with a capacity of 400 megawatts, and we are also looking to provide EPC services for roof tops and utilities.

The company is based on its strong R&D unit that keeps innovating and taking out cutting edge solutions for the sector. Lot of IPs (Design & Patents) is held by Gautam Solar. Its Solar Panels are BIS & ALMM approved and its wide range of products has undergone rigorous testing and certifications. RM

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. A K Shukla, Sanvaru, Director in which he spokes about expectations, future outlook, highlights of the company, and much more.

Expecting from REI Expo 2022

This year, it's going to be very big and footfall is very high. We are expecting good business this year as many people are coming to our stall so we are expecting more business this year as we are doing the energy storage and EV batteries in a big way.

The future outlook of the Renewable Energy Sector of India

If we want to save our Earth, we have to opt for Renewal energy, solar energy, wind energy and we have to store that energy in the energy storages that will be the lithium ion battery, advance chemistries and many other chemistries are coming for the storages so we are also working on some advance energy storage chemistries so according to me that would be a

future possibility of the renewal energy sector.

The highlights of your company in 2022

We are expecting the 3 digits’ business this year in CR and we are also developing megawatt level batteries. In the next two to three months it will be deployed to our customers (1.2 megawatts). We have also developed a E-truck battery of 129KW/258KW of 614 V. We are also doing some projects for the low floor buses, we are doing a lot in higher voltage batteries segments.

The hopes for 2023

It will be bigger than this year. We are expecting more business, more collaborations and more work with energy storage companies for more advanced chemistries on the cells so we hope it will be a better year for us. RM

In a remarkable and conversation with Mr. Ramu Ravichandhar, Regional Manager, Megger India Pvt. Ltd., and knowing more about the insights of REI-2022, footfall, product launch, new opportunities, and industrial outlook…

About Megger

As a brand, we are one of the global companies. We are mainly into electrical testing and measuring. We provide testing solutions for all kinds of substation assets, generation assets, and distribution assets. We have all kinds of testing instruments ranging from a multi metre up to our highest product. We have WAN solutions for location; we have transformer testing solutions; so, these are the complete range of products that we offer to the power segment. Mainly to the power generation, power transmission, and power distribution segments. So we are like a super market, a one-stop solution for all the electrical testing requirements that our customers can expect.

Expectations and footfall

Renewable energy is a booming segment in India now. I think India is leading this renewable globally now and this is the first time we’ve set up a stall in a renewable expo. We are expecting this expo to cover all the renewable customers like who are the power producers, solar power producers, wind energy producers, and hydro energy. So, through this event, we want to show them that we are available for their asset testing.

Product Launch

We are having some of the new products which we have put up here as a poster. In fact, we are not launching it here, but we do have a digital marcom and

brochures that contain all of the information about all of our latest editions, particularly for the solar and wind segments, and we have some exclusive products that we have put in this expo in a digital format. We are not physically launching it here, but in digital form.

New opportunities

The government has mandated that all conventional energy be used in tandem with solar energy. So this is the opportunity that is building up and, gradually, all the conventional energy will be replaced by solar energy or even wind energy. Solar and wind are booming, so we also get a lot of opportunities.

Industrial Outlook

We are also covering the industrial sector. All these solar and wind power plants are getting what they are building. These are all dependent on various industries. For example, inverters; they manufacture, they buy it from somewhere. Solar cells, they buy it from somewhere. And wind, those blades and towers, they buy it from some industry or some manufacturer. So, this manufacturing segment is becoming huge because plans are increasing and solar power plants are increasing. Industry is booming, so we have an opportunity in industry as well. Our products are going to solar panel manufacturers, solar battery manufacturers, and blade manufacturers. So, in their production line as a quality test, we have some of our products which are going regularly to them. So in that way, we see the industrial outlook is great. RM

We are trying to showcase our company in the best possible way and try to increase our footprint in the Indian market. We are currently at 1.5 Gigawatts line with installation capacity of 1.5 Gigawatts and out of the same 300 megawatts having of polycrystalline technology. Currently we are one the few manufacturers having world class setup of Solar Module MultiBusbar manufacturing line.

We currently have an installation capacity of 1.5 Gigawatts, we are also coming up with 1 Gigawatt of Solar Cell Manufacturing Line and the announcement will be followed soon.

The current challenges of Renewable Energy sector

Duty structure and too much dependence on China for the raw material sourcing, these are the biggest challenges. I see other challenges like the prices of the modules are going up and the tariffs are coming low.

The key Products offered by your company

in the same segment

We are offering 335Wp DCR modules which come with a 40 mm frame thickness and we are supplying 545Wp+ modules that also come with 40 mm frame thickness, these are the key products offered by us for our customers. We do offer not only in India we also export to USA and Europe under Made in India force.

The highlights of your company in 2022

If we consider DCR modules supply then RAYZON is on second rank in list of supplier of DCR modules in Gujarat. We have achieved considerable position in Indian market as far as Government, Rooftop and large scale projects are concerned. We have also commissioned our first Multibusbar Production line, we started installing our lines in January 2022. We started our production and we did about close to 120 to 230 megawatts in the first three to four months. These are the main highlights of Rayzon Solar so far in 2022

Hopes for 2023

Our target is to achieve 500 to 600 megawatts modules supply this year. And as far as our company vision is concerned; our management team looking forward to setup Solar Cell line with the latest technology by the year. RM

Q

. What are your expectations from this event?

To see people, to meet people, to greet people, and knowing more about industry and new comers especially young people who are joining the industry, meeting them also training them on what will be the future of India.

Q . What is the outlook of Renewable Energy Industry?

There are three different markets in renewable energy industry –Residential Rooftop, Commercial Rooftop and Mega Watt Projects. In India we have done very good in megawatt projects in last five to six years, we have just started commercial but residential segment has a very good opportunity like we are working in Australia since last 13 years, currently Australia is almost 40 per cent residential in which we have covered 30 per cent residents so the penetration is very high compare to all over the world.

If we see in India, Gujarat is the only state where the penetration is little bit high than other states, if we see overall Indian market just for the residential rooftop maybe we can pass 20 to 30 gigawatts every year in coming years. Whereas up to 50 gigawatts opportunity for commercial rooftop as well plus megawatt projects. One more segment is like pump segment for farmers and also solar programs for the farmers to add their income which is also a priority for Indian government, we believe within two to three years all these segments will grow ten times.

Q . What are the current challenges of Renewable Energy Sector?

There are few challenges but we have passed so many challenges all over world in last two to three years. Renewable energy sector has also faced challenges like supply chain issue, GST and as an emerging country we require few things to change but the problem is that sometimes we act too fast to change the rules and regulations and sometimes it is delayed. For Example – For Residential Rooftop we need clear guidelines usually when tender comes it comes for a year and then six months will be ideal period and then for six months there would be new tender period. Some people are joining the industry they are doing very good for

those 6 to 12 months but when there is no work for those 6 to 12 months then they have to do other things and for some companies like we are mainly focusing on rooftop and commercial & supply as well so this is how we can survive but the small retailers who are just dealing in retailing only for them we need long term strategy what we are going to do in 2030. There will be only one registration for them and there will be an overall target for a country which is happening via a national portal but still we have to work on it as the national portal started two months before which is very similar to what Gujarat has done in last two years and just to know that in Gujarat last year there was 700 to 800 megawatt solar system installed as an APS we have done highest number of solar system which is almost 20 megawatts which kept us on the number one position in Gujarat and Gujarat is the on the number one all over India. Until now only APS is the company who have done 20 megawatts in one year in residential rooftop which resulted in 5000 plus jobs within a year. We have our whole team because similar experience we have in Australia as Australia is two and half times bigger in geographical and we have experience of working all over Australia and we are roughly doing 200 and 250 megawatts in one year in Residential and Commercial Rooftop since last ten years. So we have expectations of achieving roughly 200 megawatts in one year from India within one to two years.

Q

. What is the biggest highlight of your company in 2022?

As I have mentioned earlier we are number one in Gujarat for Residential Rooftop the number one Gujarat is the on the number one all over India.

Q

. What are the hopes for 2023?

In 2023 we are expanding our capacity almost double and we are also bringing the mono solar line which is going to help us in the commercial segment also we are done some pump projects and we are going to expand that segment almost two times bigger and we have an opportunity to export our panels back to Australia where we are already using panels from overseas so yeah we believe next three to four years we have to do almost double by every year so that’s are hopes for coming years. FLOATEX SOLAR

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. Sunil Aggarwal, Director, Floatex Solar, he spokes about expectations, future outlook, key offerings, and much more.

Expecting from REI Expo 2022

It is giving us a good platform to showcase our products, what kind of work we have done and what are the plans for upcoming years. REI is a big platform for all the brands as people from all over India and from abroad as well are here for better business opportunities.

but very powerful tracking system and it is very necessary for the utility scale project because now the tracker is the only thing that can enhance the power generation 15 to 25 per cent so it will generate more revenue so this is how I see the market is for the tracker for utility scale projects.

The Challenges of

the

Renewable Energy Sector of India

Renewable Energy sector has lots of challenges because the government has come out with 40 % duty on the modules, all the projects have been come to a standstill because the modules price has increased so much and the RR developers are expecting is not there since the works starts from the developers and because of these developers are not going ahead and putting the projects. Everyone is standed right now, I think the government should come forward and give some solution to these problems..

The key offerings of your company to its customers

India is a very cost sensitive market so what we are offering is very simple

The most important highlight of your company in 2022

Floatex Solar is a provider of the floating solar technology in India so in 2022 we executed around 250 megawatts of projects in India and we did one of the largest project in India 150 megawatts in “RamaKundam” launched by honorable Prime Minister other than that we also executed around 5 big scale projects also bagged the “Omkareshyar” that is the biggest project in the world that is coming for 300 megawatts so we are already been awarded with two mega projects and the third project is still pending for the allocation. Fingers crossed!! We are hoping for more opportunities.

The message to its Customers

Our message to our customers is that we are committed to them, we provide best products, qualities and services to them and we will stay committed to them as we are serving them for such a long period of time.

SOFARSOLAR

“I see a promising future in the Indian market, I would like to share the numbers of installation capacity for this year in China is expected to be 80 gigawatts to 150 gigawatts, if we see the Indian market it is expected to be in between 15 to 20 gigawatts for this year,” – Mr. Dong Bo, Head of Asia Pacific Sales & Marketing, SofarSolar.

What are expecting from this mega event?

We are so happy to be here in this REI, we have welcomed so many guests, we have non-stop meetings and we have conveyed our brand’s value and preposition to older partners, customers and stakeholders. So I believe this event will be a milestone of the new era that SofarSolar will be more active in the C&I sector in Indian Market which covers the 50 per cent of the total demand. Besides Sofar Solar is entering into utility segment. All the big customers will now enjoy the better quality of SofarSolar products at the reasonable prices.

What are the current challenges of Renewable Energy Sector especially in India?

There are quite lots of challenges. The renewable energy sector is the fastest growing industry over a decade it has become a column industry from a small dot. So from the last 10 years we have been facing lots of challenges. Recently, the challenges are – the high prices of solar modules and secondly from the great capacity to absorb the solar generation and the third one is the consistency of the policies which is really like guiding the directions of the development of this industry. However, SofarSolar is a technology driven company, we have strong technologies to provide good quality and affordable solutions for the Indian customers.

What potential do you see in the Indian Market?

I see a promising future in the Indian market, I would like to share the numbers of installation capacity for this year in China is expected to be 80 gigawatts to 150 gigawatts, if we see the Indian market it is expected to be in between 15 to 20 gigawatts for this year. China & India both countries have almost the equal size of population but we see different progress from different states like – Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, they have a good market but states like – Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, they have huge population wherever is a high population there is a demand in the Indian Market as well in the Global market. The purchase power hampers the demand to be released so here in India, I see a huge potential in all

states and nationwide so SofarSolar offers solutions for Residential and Utility.

What is the highlight of SofarSolar in 2022?

SofarSolar has brought in the equity investment last year and this year we are on the process of offering initial property offerings, we have already submitted our application and we have made a more comprehensive structure in order to serve better to the customers, we have enhanced our services, operations, a product and a marketing along with a sales operations to serve the customers and we have also expanded our R&D team to about 400 engineers in house and it’s a huge team and we are expecting to have 500 engineers in house by the end of this year.

The main highlights of our company in 2022 –

We have launched our new product for intelligence residential energy storage a power all-in-one storage system & solutions in April 2022. We have launched our 60 k to 80 k GCU model for the C&I segment. This year the whole industry is facing a shortage of the supply due to challenges. Sofar is providing an alternative on the shortage scenarios so the demand can increase in the C&I segment which is the 80 kilowatts GCU and we will have a BS very soon. Sofarsolar is currently working on the R&D of the 300 kilowatts plus sting inverters for utility segment which is expected to launch in the beginning of the next year. Sofar also working on the battery storage systems which is containerized, will be launched in the early months of next year. So there are too many highlights of Sofar this year. We are expecting to enjoy the gross and shared vision of all the partners and customers.

What is the one change you want to see in the industry?

All the participants, audiences from the same industry. I would say this is one of the best industry we should be happy & enjoying the developments and also the challenges that we are facing because behind that there is an opportunity and promising future in front of us- Think about it!

30-60 net zero vision for China and 20-70 net zero vision for India, we have a long way to go and we are so lucky that we can spend our lifetime in this industry only and can literally enjoy the gross!

In a wonderful and impressive with Mr. Sandesh Shetty, National Head- Sales (Modules), Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited, and knowing more about the insights of REI-2022, footfall, product launch, new opportunities, and industrial outlook…

Expectations, experience and Footfall

We participated last year, but it was virtual. So, as usual, we’ve expected a lot of footfall. For the last 2 days, we didn’t have any time. A lot of customers were there at the booth.

Product Launch

We have launched the N-Type module here because we know Solar is the pioneer of this industry in India. We always felt that customer needs were more efficient and better products.

Key Features

It has a better thermal co-efficient than the construction of the module, which is also different, so, at the end of the day, it has better efficiency, better generation, and less degradation.

About WAAREE

We started with modules, but now we are in the entire value chain. We are the largest in modules. I think outside, mainly in China, about 7 gigawatts are already commissioned and another 2 to 4 gigawatt modules are under construction. Within 6 or 9 months, we are going to announce 5.4 in cells.

We’ve started WAAREE RTL, where we focus on EPC jobs. At this point in time, we’ve got the best order booked for the EPC.

New Opportunities

The new opportunity is like solar kicks. If we see 2012, the industry will be more into industrial now than residential. So, here you see the residential people. They would like to be residential people. They would like to have a solar kit at the top of the house. They don’t want only modules, they want the entire thing, so we plug and play. That is another way of awareness.

Working on AI & ML etc.,

If we don’t learn and work on this technology, we’ll be out of this industry. Everything is present, including our modules.

Message that you want to convey to your

customers…

I would like to take their messages. I would say, with their blessings, we have survived in this industry because it is ruthless and we are doing well. As a result, we are confident that we will do even better in the coming years. RM

CLIANTECH SOLUTIONS

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. Navneet Mehrotra, Director, Cliantech Solutions, he spokes about expectations, opportunities & challenges and much more.

Expecting from REI Expo 2022

PM Narendra Modi is taking forward the initiative of Honorable Jawaharlal Nehru’s solar whose initial target was 175 Gigawatts now its target is 550 Gigawatts by 2030. We are also working on the same target and we are also giving our best in the ‘Make in India’ project and we have come here to fulfil this target. Our company helps people who are willingly to invest in solar panels according to their budgets, we also provide them full information like the manufacturing process, features of the products, advancement of technologies.

Unfortunately, India exports machines from China but the installation of the machines are done by our employees so my main concern to come here is to make people aware of the advantages we have as in India we have sunlight access 365 days so we should utilize it.

The challenges & the opportunities of the Renewable Energy Sector of India

There are always two sides of the coin so Renewable energy sector has its challenges and opportunities. We have the biggest advantage as we

look at the geographical state of our nation we are blessed to have sunlight all 365 days of the year. We all have roofs; we can install solar panels. The biggest challenge is that the government only subsiding the residential solar panel systems, not subsiding the commercial and institutional solar rooftops. If a factory or a school wants to install solar panels they wouldn’t get the advantage of it so why they would install it. So it’s my appeal to the government to promote the solar industry in big ways.

The hopes for 2023

We are hoping that Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will be in power again in 2024 too. We are also hoping that our 2023 will be amazing in terms of business. In Renewable Energy, we have different kinds of segments like wind energy, solar energy, bio mass. For wind energy you have to have a particular geographical location but the solar energy is everywhere in India, and on top of that it’s free of cost and it has no operational cost, it has no environmental effects, its clean. So I request you all the to think about it and understand the subject first. RM

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. Arabin Lama, Global Sales Center, General Manager, AntaiSolar India Pvt. Ltd, he spokes about expectations, future outlook, key offerings, and much more.

Expecting from REI Expo 2022

We have got very good response and lots of IPPs and EPC’s have visited our booth, so it is quite successful & fruitful for us. The market is little bit paused for now because of the implementation of BCD and ALMM on modules in India and globally high module prices especially but I think most of the projects will go ahead in next quarter.

The future outlook of the Renewable Energy Sector of India

India has huge target for Renewable Energy by 2030, market it is quite big and there are lot of opportunities for solar equipment manufacturers. I think the most important things are the policies from the government side for the modules, looking at renewable energy target, the market is expected to grow exponentially. Looking at current module prices, we believe that majority of solar projects starting from next year will happen with solar trackers technology.

The key offerings of your company to its customers

India is a very price sensitive market and we are offering a very cost competitive, innovative and optimized Solar tracking system for all types of utility scale solar power projects , that can enhance the power generation by 15 to 25% .

Antai Solar is offering the highest percentage of local content which will help them to save the additional cost in terms of Basic Customs Duty (BCD), Ocean Freight and less burden on foreign currency payment.

Antai Solar is also providing highest warranty in the tracking industry which includes standard warranty of 15 years on structural components and 10 years on electrical & tracking components.

The most important highlight of your company in 2022

As we are in this business and industry for more than 16 years, we have already shipped more than 20 gigawatts fixed structures and trackers worldwide. Globally, this year we will be shipping the Solar tracker system around 3 gigawatts. For the India Market we are also expecting lot of future projects to be happen with solar tracking system

The future investment plans of your company

We have already done strategic investment with one of our OEM partners for the manufacturing of 2GW of structural components of Solar tracker in India per annum, it will offer 75 to 80% of local content of the overall value of the tracker. so that client can get cost benefit by saving taxes, logistics cost and delivery lead time. REI Special "Brief"

In a remarkable and short conversation with Mr. Vineet Mittal, Co- Founder, Director, Navitas Solar, and knowing more about the insights of REI-2022…

Expectations from REI 2022

Mainly the expectations to meet our old network. This was after 3 years and we were not able to meet physically. It was always on phone and Zoom calls. So, the main idea behind it is to meet people personally and just get back together after so long.

Footfall

We are not able to take count, but it has been an amazing response and we have not got enough time to take rest, so, I mean, the response has been remarkable.

Product Launch

We are displaying three new products here. One is our latest range of solar modules. It is called Bonito. We are displaying our mono-PERC half-cut modules ranging from 450 watts going up to 550 watts and in the future we are going to do 670 watt peak and above modules, so that is one. We are displaying our latest range of EVA sheets, which are encapsulant for solar modules, under the brand name Navitas Alpha, and then we are also showcasing our entry into another storage with ESS packs for 20 kWh and EV two-wheelers. Two platforms are called Groot and Alpha. They are going to be used by the OEMs for two-wheel electric vehicle applications.

New & Current opportunities for solar industry

In terms of technology, the market is moving towards bi-facial, half-cut, trackers, and in terms of inverters, people are talking about very large-scale inverters or micro inverters. In terms of energy storage, a lot of things have been discussed for the C&I segment, for peak load sharing, so many things in the storage space

and obviously in the electric mobility space. The whole market is evolving. Now people are looking at real performance, mileage and safety.

New technology

Increasing the efficiency of the solar modules with the same module space requires the latest modules, which are N-Type, mono-PERC or may be HJT in the future, so we are working upon those for coming years. We've got plans for expansion. In EVA manufacturing, we are going to launch POE, which is used for dual glass modules, and in the EV space, we are going to launch our own set of BMS applications. The overall design and development of the software and hardware on the BMS front will be in-house based on which we are able to offer ESS applications completely in-house, which is almost new in the industry.

On how REI is going to support Navitas Solar

People come from abroad. REI is a platform for us to meet people, display our products and our capabilities. They are doing a good job of assembling people from all over the country and people are coming from abroad. It's a good platform to meet up with existing networks and develop new networks.

Message

Customers are becoming more aware of the quality. They are looking for good quality in the long run and then choosing their product, not just thinking about the price. There are a few new players who have entered the market and their focus is to make money in the short run. That might not be a good strategy to be here. Solar is a long term play; it's not something where you can make quick money being in the industry for 10 years. We understand that people need to have lots of patience here and then work upon their brand building or goodwill, and that can only happen if you only offer good quality products or services to your customers and make sure the customer gets value for the product. Once you do that, then it's a good business to be in. RM

DEYE INVERTERS INDIA

In an exceptional and short conversation with Mr. Bharat Singh, Sales & Marketing (India), Deye Inverters India, and knowing more about the interesting insights of REI-2022, product launch, and current opportunities for solar industry…

Expectations from this Mega event

This event gives a lot of opportunities like new products to be launched and Many new comers who are coming into this renewable sector get to learn about the products. More than that, it will be a good platform for the manufacturers to showcase their products, launch their products and such shows should happen frequently to understand whatever technology changes are happening and new innovative products coming into the industry.

Footfall & Product launch

This year, Deye inverter launched two products: a high voltage hybrid inverter and lithium batteries; these are the innovative products for this year, but next year, we will launch our portable ESS and larger hybrid inverters on the same platform at the renewable energy expo.

Key features of the product

The specific feature of this hybrid inverter-high voltage which we have launched on day 2 of REI is that it is the first one to have the transformer less hybrid high voltage inverter with an LCD touch screen. It has six charging and discharging periods and is the first inverter to have up to 100 amps charging and discharging. More than that, we have all the certifications for that particular product and we are good to go for installations in India.

New and Current opportunity that you

see for solar industry

In the solar industry, like modules, are growing very fast. We are getting even 710–800 watt peak modules and in upcoming days in China they are expecting to have 1000 watt peak modules also.

Apart from that, the future for the inverter market is the hybrid inverters, into which Deye has already entered, and we are the world's first to have hybrid inverters launched in China and now in India. The future is green hydrogen, for which the generation will happen only through solar power. Solar will be the foundation for green hydrogen and electric vehicles, as well as green hydrogen fuel cars. So the future is very bright and we can expect a lot of EV cars and also green hydrogen fuel cars.

On how REI is going to support Deye

The REI is a very good platform to showcase our innovative products, and also, it does not just give us a platform for launching our products; it also gets us genuine clients. They do a lot of marketing about these events and about the products, so overall the event is successful and we expect the same from next year also.

Message

There are many more innovative products coming from Deye, so we need your support. Obviously, we are supporting our clients globally. RM

In a short and crisp conversation with Mr. Sunil Thamaram, Vice President, Managing Director, Enphase Solar Energy Private Limited, and knowing more about the interesting insights of REI-2022…

About Enphase

My name is Sunil. I head the Indian operation for Enphase. I started with Enphase 5 years ago. Enphase is a leading micro solar and inverter company. We started in 2006 and in 2012 we went public. 2 years ago, we also introduced a product called the IQ inverter. So, we are in the solar system with residential customers.

In India, we've got a team of about 1600 today in 5 years. We do a lot of engineering work like software development, system and product design, testing, and we also do a lot of business management like marketing, customer service, supply chain, and a lot of other things.

Product that Enphase is catering and product launch in REI

We are showcasing two products:

Today, because the industry's panel voltage is increasing, our micro inverter goes behind the panel. The voltage is increasing. One panel, one inverter. That’s what our resolution is when the panel is increasing the voltage, so we have to increase our capacity. We are working on introducing a product called IQ8H, which is a higher voltage inverter. 2. IQ battery, which are the two products on display at REI 2022.

CSR Activities

Last year, we did pretty good work in terms of CSR activities. We’ve done a couple of things that I want to mention. We are teaming up with an agency to do basic education about solar energy for school kids.

Making sure that the younger generation comes and grows up knowing what solar energy is all about We had one school near Bangalore where they had a

challenge about power. We’ve sponsored solar systems for the management of the CSR and also given them computer centres. Making people aware of green energy and helping education are the areas that we want to focus on.

Expectations from REI

We are participating in REI for the first time because we are a residential solar system company. This is an event where we want the solar installers who actually installed the system in the house. This event is pretty useful in all ways, and all the installers are here.

New opportunities

The solar industry or the residential opportunity is huge. In India, one problem is that residential opportunities are really not structured markets because of different changes in policy, price changes, custom duty changes, tax changes, and a lot of other things that affect the market. There’s only one solution: we need more awareness campaigns, online campaigns, events like this to educate the customer.

Footfall

We are participating for the first time, and the footfall we are getting is excellent. We interacted with so many installers coming to us and discussing the products that we’ve launched here. Our growth depends on how many installers we recruit, train, or can be aware of. So, this event is helping us to get more installers.

Message

We understand the importance of service and how the company is giving you the services. We are investing a lot of energy and customer experiences are very good. RM
