Psychology plays a large role in this concept since each individual can perceives the space differently. It is important to use universal design strategies to make sure everyone feels valued and that their needs are met throughout the design.

Overview: Next is a leading global consumer robot company based in Providence, Rhode Island. At NEXT, we create consumer electronics and appliances that are designed to help you. Our purpose is to improve everyday living through robotics. Designed with you in mind, products offer innovative solutions to make your life easier with intuitive and responsive controls, sleek, stylish designs, and eco-friendly features.

PROBLEM:

Previous workplace was not up to date on post covid trends of embodying the core vales and branding of the company.

SOLUTION:

Create a collaborative and team-based workplace that embodies technology since a hybrid work schedule is in place, NEXTERS will work from both home and the headquarters to provide the ultimate flexibility for work.

CONCEPT: CIRCUIT BOARD Next is centered around technology and home improvement robotics. The work place is a reflection of that by mimicking the wires in a circuit board leading workers to socialize and reconnect in the work cafe also known as the mother board.

Personal - this work setting allows employees to work in a heads down space without disruption from the workplace. Employees will feel comfortable and secure in their own personal space which promotes productivity.

Collaboration - this work setting allows employees to bounce ideas, share knowledge and ideas with each other both remotely and in-person. A shared sense of belonging between remote workers and in-person will be incorporated with the use of technology and video screens. A mix of soft seating and hard seating will allow employees to make a choice for their comfort and wellbeing during the group discussions.

Social - these spaces allow employees to rejuvenate by mingling and chatting with other employees in a more relaxed environment. Mix of communal and individual experiences will be fostered here.

Overview: Residents will have a bedroom suite as well as access to communal dining and shared amenities. Resident needs will vary some may require physical assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and walking, while others may have memory impairments (e.g. Alzheimer’s, dementia) or medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, heart disease, depression) that may require

PROBLEM: Senior residents moving into an assisted living often feel lonely and isolated. They enjoy their independence and often feel they loose that once they make the move.

SOLUTION: Give independence back to residents within their micro apartments. A small kitchenette in their new home will bring a sense of independence by preparing their own coffee and snacks. Residents will be encouraged to join other residents in pet therapy and other activities to promote socialization.

CONCEPT: “THAT 70’S FEELING” 1970’s trends feature earth tones , textured fabrics and geometric shapes, bringing a sense of balance and wellbeing that was once familiar to residents. These trends that come from the 70’s are rooted in nostalgia, bringing much needed comfort during these life changing times.

Safety: Daily activities are getting more challenging to manage, but you don’t need full-time care. Assisted living facilities can offer as little or as much help as you need with basic tasks of daily life.

Community and socialization: Good facilities provide a rich social fabric that can improve life and connection immensely for isolated older adults. Even if you’re not isolated, becoming part of a supportive community can significantly enhance your quality of life as you age.

Maximizing independence: Assisted living aims to help people live as independently as possible. If you need some help but don’t need 24/7 care, assisted living can actually foster more independence than living at home.

PROBLEM: Patients often become anxious and nervous when going to the doctors. Most patients spend their time waiting to see a doctor and spend 65% of their visit in the waiting room.

SOLUTION: Create a space that mimic’s nature to give a sense of calmness during a stressful time for patients.

CONCEPT: POWER OF PLANTS Plants have been long used as traditional remedies to fight off diseases. Many of todays compounds are developed from plants, fungus and bacterias. The genetic make up of these plants have been proved to help humans heal. By surrounding humans with nature, this can add to the healing process.

Power of Color: Chromotherapy is the use of the visible spectru color, to heal the physical, mental, and spiritual energy imbalan to lead to diseases. Each color of the spectrum has a different e mind, body and emotions. Green is known to be universally hea brings balance and harmony to ones mind and body.
