From day one, Elder Care Alliance's mission and vision have been centered on the care of older adults — putting their well-being and dignity at the forefront of all we do.
Our vision is clear: Engaging hearts, transforming lives, erasing boundaries. We want our communities to be not just places where older adults live but places where older adults flourish.
Elder Care Alliance has served seniors and their families in California for more than 25 years, but our history stretches back even further.
We trace our history to the 1907 opening of Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland, founded by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1996, Mercy and Salem Lutheran Home came together with the support of Catholic Healthcare West (now CommonSpirit Health) to form Elder Care Alliance.
Today, Elder Care Alliance is a network of five communities: Mercy Retirement and Care Center, AlmaVia of San Francisco, AlmaVia of San Rafael, and AlmaVia of Camarillo (in Southern California), and The Villa at San Mateo.
