Description: Participants will receive training on how to help families and children cope with and prepare for emergency situations. Emergencies such as natural disasters, house/building fires and community violence will be discussed. Strategies for preparation will be shared using PBS and Sesame Street Characters and resources. Also, we will be sharing resources that can help providers in helping grief stricken children and families recover after loss.
Special Note: Participants can print out digital resources to use. Name(s) will be drawn during the training for a door prize to be mailed.
OUTCOMES:
Navigate PBS resource platforms to find relevant multi media materials
Identify ways to help families prepare in advance for different emergency situations
Identify ways to help support and console grieving families members after a (human or property) loss
Identify ways to help families affected by tragedy cope and move forward
Be able to share PBS resource sites with families and help them navigate for their own use
TO EARN AN ACHIEVEMENT BONUS
• Must be teaching in Hillsborough County to qualify for the Achievement Bonus • All requirements of the course must be met (Pre/post, homework assignments, reflection, and LMS instructor evaluation, if applicable). • Each individual is limited to 4 training achievement bonuses from January to

Description: During four evening sessions, learners will participate in activities to help children understand their angry feelings, learn appropriate strategies to assist children in managing those feelings and helping children to develop self-control. This learning event is based on Fred Roger’s beliefs and ideas about children and angry feelings.
Special Note: A written Implementation Plan (homework) will be assigned each session and will be reviewed and collected at the beginning of the next session. The last learning event will be followed by a post survey and evaluation which must be completed within 72 hours post learning event with a score of 75% or greater to receive CEU credit.
OUTCOMES:
Learners will be able to list activities that can be used as healthy outlets for helping children manage their angry feelings and learn self-control.
Learners will be able to describe helpful ways to intervene when anger or frustration overwhelms children.
