The Center for the Arts encourages families to enjoy performances together; however, in consideration of other ticket holders, unless specified, most performances are not suitable for infants and toddlers. Events will start promptly. Latecomers will be seated during a suitable pause in the performance. The use of cameras and/or recording devices, including picture and video phones, is strictly prohibited during any Center for the Arts performances, unless otherwise stated.

Discounts are available on tickets with a regular price of $16 or more. El Camino College faculty, staff, students (with current ASB sticker) and Alumni Association members receive a 25 percent discount on the full price of two tickets purchased at the Ticket Office for most events. In some instances multiple ticket prices are listed for events that include Student & Senior Discounts. These discounts may not be available to all patrons. For more information about discounted tickets, please contact the Ticket Office.

Limited wheelchair seating is available in designated areas.

A sound amplification system is available for the hearing impaired and with two weeks’ notice, sign language interpreters may be arranged for most events. Contact the Ticket Office for more information.

Building on the rich history of the Center for the Arts at El Camino College, we have put together a season that will entertain, delight, inform and educate our campus community, as well as the many community members who have enjoyed Center for the Arts presentations throughout the years.

JOE KYE, Violinist-Looper March 2 @ 8 p.m. | Tickets $26/$10 | C Born in Korea and raised in Seattle, violinist-looper and vocalist Joe Kye has drawn rave reviews since launching his music career in 2013, “discharging world[s] of emotion” and delivering “divine messages” with his lush string loops and eclectic style (Guitar World). Drawing upon his migrant upbringing, Kye blends indie-rock, jazz, classical, pop, and world folk to create a unique sound that “leaves everyone in awe” (Sacramento News and Review). With his innovative use of digital effects and looping, Kye weaves together diverse textures, catchy melodies, and rich, sweet vocals to create songs that groove, uplift, and empower listeners.

Montreal’s cutting-edge classical nine-member string band Collectif9 has been gathering steam since its 2011 debut. Known for energized, innovative arrangements of classical repertoire, Collectif9 employs lights, staging, and amplification more commonly seen at rock acts, and heralds a new age in genre-bending classical performance. Original arrangements feature textures and special instrumental effects that transport the listener out of the concert hall and into a world of fantasy and imagery.

Inspired by the Silk Road, Camel Walk weaves between orchestration and spontaneity, and combines the essence not only of the culture of East and West, but also Jazz.

A ship containing the king of Naples and his party struggles to stay afloat. On land, Prospero and his daughter, Miranda, watch the storm envelop the ship. Prospero has created the storm with magic. His enemies are on board the ship and he will soon seek revenge for his banishment.

The choreography for the show is created by the ECC instructors of the dance classes with student participation.

Technical aspects of the shows are kept to a minimum and many genres of dance are represented including ballet, modern dance, jazz, African, tap, ballroom, Latin social dance, hip-hop and beginning dance. Each night is a completely different performance!
