Isla Española Vida, inocencia, ternura / Life, innocence, endearment Amanecimos en un pedazo de mar cerca de Isla Española, rodeada de islas vírgenes sin hoteles. Al dirigirnos a Punta Suárez, Pedro Criollo dice que conoceremos uno de los rincones con más diversidad: “El 60% de las especies endémicas está en esta isla”. Nos recibe el sonido de los leones marinos. Uno de los más pequeños, con su rostro cubierto de arena, inspira profunda ternura. Una de las hembras da a luz a una cría. Podemos ver vida, en un huevo custodiado por un piquero patas azules. A su lado, una pareja de la misma especie bailan, enamorándose. Ahí encontramos iguanas marinas de colores, albatroces, garzas de lava nocturna, canarios maría, gaviotas de cola bifurcada, entre otras especies. Por la tarde visitamos Bahía Gardner. Su arena se caracteriza por ser blanca y muy suave, contrasta de manera sublime con sus aguas turquesas. / Sunrise caught us at sea, near Española Island, surrounded by virgin island with no hotels. While heading for Punta Suárez, Pedro Criollo tells us we were about to see one of the most diverse spots: “60% of endemic species are on this island.” It received with the sea lions’ roar. One of the youngest, all covered in sand, is endearing. One of the females gives birth to a pup. We can see life inside an egg guarded by a blue-footed booby. Nest to it a couple of the same species dance and fall in love. There we found colored sea iguanas, albatrosses, night herons, Maria canaries, swallow-tailed gulls, and other species. In the afternoon we visit Gardner Bay, with soft white sand that contrasts the turquoise-blue waters.
