MESSAGE FROM OUR SENIOR COMMITTEE
Engineers Ireland is a community of creative professionals delivering solutions for society We comprise of 11 divisions, 11 societies of interest and 12 regions, of which the Cork Region is one The Cork Region Young Engineers Society (Cork YES) is a subcommittee of the Cork Region, focused on the needs of young Cork engineers during their college education and in the workforce Up until recently, the Cork Region had the honour of being the only region with an active Young Engineers Society.
Cork YES provides a networking platform and useful resources for young engineers and engineering students of both MTU and UCC via a variety of events and supports annually Each year, over 500 young engineers gain valuable connections and engineering insight from attending these events which, in turn, supports their professional and personal development.
The exceptional work of the Cork Region Young Engineers Society cannot be underestimated as a key component of the Cork Regions promotion of engineering across all areas Kate and her committee are the leading force in the region behind the Young Engineers Award, providing local training for volunteer engineers, visiting a large number of schools and judging the 3rd and 4th class projects.
The committee are integral to the success of the Engineering Family Fun Day in the Old Cork Waterworks each year where approximately a thousand people experience engineering through fun activities and presentations
On behalf of the Cork Region, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Cork Region Young Engineers Society for their unwavering commitment and valuable work over the last year and wish them the very best for their future events
