MIRACULOUS MOVIE

Don’t be bemused; it's just the news! Today, we’ll be talking about the one and only “Miraculous: The Movie”. Now, if you have read our issue 8 (which you totally should), you'll see that I already wrote an article on the movie. However, now that it has been released, it is time forareview.

First things first, let's talk about the reinvention of the origin story. Finally! We get to see Master Fu again! It's been so long. We also get to see Tikki and Plagg choose Ladybug and Chat Noir instead of Master Fu choosing them. That just proves that they are the Ladybug and Chat Noir of every universe <3. And we got to hear some wonderful magical songs like "Stronger Together, Now I See,andMyLady"(andalltheothersongs!).
Now, let's talk about the love between Ladybug and Chat Noir. All the teasing, The dancing, and eating ice cream on patrol, THEN PLAY FIGHTING! It was too cute.Andlet'snotforgetwhenChatNoirsaid,“Yousave the world every day with your mask, but the girl behind it saved my heart.” I just know all the Love Square shipperswerescreaminginhappinessatthatpoint.
And though there were scenes that we were robbed of, *Cough* the Adrienette scenes, and scenes that hurt us (The rejections and Adrien Calling Marinette weird) , The movie was still great and very fun to watch. And the art style is amazing. The outfits the characters wore to the ball were all Gorgeous

What I think the fans were most surprised about was Gabriel finally being a good father. He actually cared about his son in the movie, and Adrien finally got some fatherly love.

THE HOTTEST SUMMER YET Scorching Weather 2023:

Sweat-inducing, sweltering & fiery. This is how I would describe what this past summer has felt like. Full of a myriad of undoubtedly euphoric memories, this summer has nonetheless never lost the opportunity to remind us of the gradually increasing heat we face every day. The second the blazing heat touched the skin on our cheeks as we stepped outside for a pleasant walk to take in what we once thought was the pleasant sunlight, we were almost instantaneously reminded that temperatures were reaching over 40 degrees outside. It still is! Before the reminder scratches the surface of our mind, our nose is already bright red from the taint the sun grazes across it, leaving its mark.
For those of us who live in Dubai, we know the huge contributing factor that heat has when we think of the city, almost a topic that comes hand-in-hand with the name “Dubai”. However, this summer, our world faced a phenomenon that came completely unprecedented, global temperature records breaking this year. Believe it or not, this summer was the hottest ever recorded on a large scale with a global average temperature of 16.77 degrees Celsius which is 0.66C above the 1991-2000 average. This staggering number has begun to turn heads as the summer wages on with temperatures gradually lower, but the attention of people sparked as we hit a new high of global warming.
These alarming numbers also continued to bring about the many heatwaves, fires, droughts, and floods around the world, having disastrous results, as we have sporadically heard in between instances of some of ours’’ exhilarating summers. It acted as a sort of grounding piece of news for our world that it may have been summer, but our world continues to burn as we feel it in this flared-up weather.
It was a real challenge to stay cool and comfortable. People had to take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, and there was no room for complacency. But we rose to the challenge by staying hydrated, finding shade, and taking advantage of airconditioned spaces whenever possible. It was tough, but we're making it through!
More than anything, in the end, we must look at these numbers and remind ourselves of the reason behind why they only seem to be increasing. Our planet is headed toward an even hotter doom if we continue to sit back and volunteer to watch our home boil. Continue to take precautions to protect ourselves from this unforgiving heat but remember to stay informed and mindful about what this situation means for us. But most importantly, take steps toward educating yourself about what we can do to change this rather than deal with it.
ONAM

The biggest festival in Kerala, which is an Indian state, is called Onam. It lasts for a full month and brings Keralites from all over the world together. It exudes joy, happiness, and a strong sense of community among Keralans. The thrilling s King Mahabali lies at the epicenter of Ona was a renowned leader who bestowed his c with unmatched riches and happiness. Raksha Bandhan,

It has officially been around 2-3 weeks since Raksha Bandhan, better known as the ending of Rakhi–for those who don’t know, Rakhi is a famous Hindu festival celebrated by Indians all around the world. It is a very special occasion that symbolizes the love between brothers and sisters.
The origin story of this festival is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. There are several stories and historical narratives which have varying details depending on which region you hear it from. The most famous story is the legend of Queen Draupadi and Lord Krishna (The Hindu gods of protection and love) told in the Hindu epic, The Mahabharata. Details of the story I’d rather not get into here for fear of this article getting too long, as well as the fact that I highly recommend you to read and discover more about the story yourself!
The celebration usually occurs between July and August (depending on the hindu calendar). Essentially, the main tradition of this festival is that sisters tie a unique kind of thread or bracelet called a ‘Rakhi’ (hence the name) around their brothers’ wrists who in turn offers gifts or money in exchange and a pledge to always love, respect, and protect their sisters for the rest of their lives. Raksha Bandhan is not only a time for expressing love between siblings but also a moment to come together as a family and share in the joy of the occasion. It is marked by traditional rituals, sweets, and festive meals, making it a significant cultural and social event in India.
Regardless of the specific story, Raksha Bandhan's essential meaning is a celebration of the bond between siblings and a pledge of love, care, and protection. Raksha Bandhan has become a beloved religious and cultural holiday that is celebrated by people from all backgrounds in India and many other countries over the course of time.

Written by : Vaishnavi Prasad | Edited by: Akanksha JohnsEver since that incident involving the Wilson boys being tardy, I don't think I have seen anyone enter the gates after 5 a.m. I mean, if someone got beat up for being late by a minute or two, I would make sure to get there a minute or two early. Every day, I see two lads walk to and from the cotton mill, starting their long day at quarter to 5 and only reentering the outside world at quarter past 5 in the evenings. Overworked and looking exhausted all the time, the Clarke boys are stark examples of injustice within the working class. Even from my position, high up on my tree, I can tell that whatever goes on within the walls of that mill isn't something that anyone, forget a child, should have to endure.
The weary look on all the newer kids doesn't last long- the first time they enter the factory, thei faces wear bright, optimistic smiles, hoping for a reasonable job that pays well. However, as they walk out, the once hopeful and youthful looks have given way to stern, harsh, and cold expressions.
In stark contrast, the snobbish and pretentious children of the factory owners are living untouched by the hardships endured by the workers. Strutting around with an air of entitlement, draped in fine clothes, they play with toys that are far beyond the reach of the labourers' children. Attending private schools and receiving the best education money could buy, while the Clarke boys could only dream of such opportunities. I don't know how they do it. Walking miles way before sunrise, barefoot, too. Sure, it's getting colder now, and the leaves on my tree have started to change colour, but is that better for the boys? They tread along day after day in their rumpled overalls and hats, working their hardest to help their mother. Take the boys away, and who has she got?

Gran Turismo Film

The Gran Turismo film is a film that was released on the 25th of August. Gran Turismo is already a video game available on PlayStation 4 and 5. It has involved multiple cars including the Nissan GTR which was mainly featured in the film and involved multiple tracks that are available in Gran Turismo 7. The Gran Turismo film is based on the extraordinary true story of a group of unlikely underdogs: a struggling workingclass gamer, a dreamy motorsport executive and a failed former racecar driver.
The Gran Turismo movie tells the incredible tale of Jann Mardenborough, a regular teen whose love for Gran Turismo 5 sparked a racing career. One day, out of the blue, he got the call-up of a lifetime, a trial at GT Academy, where the winner would score a Nissan contract. Jann aced the time trial and went on to win the final race after some intense training. From that moment on, he was off to the races as a pro driver! Even though Jann loved the game long before his big break, he kept playing it through the years, and even applied to study Motorsport engineering at University, though he left early to follow his heart.
However, Jann Mardenborough’s parents wanted him to focus on University and wanted to wipe down his dreams of becoming an actual racing driver He also had a lot of setbacks and struggles He was judged by some officials just because he was racing in his bedroom, on the simulator a while ago and had no experience in racing real cars. To be a racing driver, you have to overcome a lot of obstacles and a lot of risks. You have to spend a lot of money on karting itself. You have to join an academy and take part in races which requires a ton of money. You will also have to spend a lot of money on racing gear. For the less fortunate ones or the working-class teenagers who have ambitions of becoming a driver. Sponsorship is also needed so that sponsors can fund you or pay you whenever you need money for certain race events or whenever you deliver good results. After you finish karting, You have to acquire an FIA license to either go to the GT pathway or the F1 pathway. Both have different expectations and different obstacles since both pathways experience different cars and tracks.

USA USA HURRICANE HURRICANE
Written by Shu Jun Gu (SJ) Edited by Siddharth MenonThe United States has encountered the destructive power of hurricanes many times. Hurricanes have wreaked havoc on the country's coastal regions for centuries: from the Gulf of Mexico to the Eastern Seaboard, the USA has faced numerous hurricanes, leaving behind a trail of destruction, but also highlighting the resilience and adaptability of its people.
The consistent threat of hurricanes urged the United States to developed systems for hurricane monitoring, forecasting, and disaster preparedness. The National Hurricane Center (NHC), part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), plays a vital role in tracking and predicting the paths and intensities of hurricanes. Advanced technology, such as weather satellites and computer models, has significantly improved our ability to predict the behavior of these storms, enabling timely warnings and evacuations.

Evacuation plans and emergency shelters have been established in the much-needed coastal areas to confirm the safety of residents and visitors. Moreover, building codes and construction practices in hurricane-prone regions strengthened to make structures more resilient to high winds and flooding. Despite these measures, hurricanes still create significant challenges.
Hurricanes in the USA have left a permanent, with their destructive power and devastating consequences. However, with the help of communities and advancements in hurricane science and technology, they have saved countless lives and mitigated some damage. As the world tackles the effects of climate change, the threat of hurricanes looms, increasing the demands for continued vigilance, adaptation, and global cooperation.

Maui Fires
Written by Ashiya Manaktala | Edited by Zhijie GuDid you know that the US experienced its deadliest wildfire in almost a century? It resulted in over 100 casualties and the evacuation of thousands of residents, all of which were caused by a power line that fell - those bare, uninsulated metal cables, that could ignite upon contact It broke out on the 8th of August, covering a total area of 10.4 miles. In the days that followed, allegations surfaced that Hawaiian Electric, which runs Maui Electric and supplies electricity to 95% of the state overall, failed to put emergency safety measures in place in order to lower the chance of wildfires.
According to papers cited in a Washington Post article, the electrical company did not turn off the power in regions where strong winds were predicted and could start fires. On August 28, Maui County announced that it had filed a lawsuit against Hawaiian Electric and a number of its companies. Maui County claimed that the utility failed to shut down its equipment as the storm approached and that downed, energized power wires started the fires After weeks, three of the four fires were still burning Hawaiian governor Josh Green said there was "very little left" of Lahaina (a historic town, former capital) days after the fire started. The deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century burned more than 2,700 structures. 3.4 square miles, or an estimated 2,170 acres, were destroyed.

Importance of ASAs

After-School Activities (or ASAs for short) are made to give students extracurricular activities outside of academics. In EISJ, many ASAs are spanning a diverse range of activities from sport, to debate, to gardening, arts and crafts, maths and science, and even a student-led club, that writes newsletters such as the very one you are reading right now! But no matter what ASA you choose to participate in, it will be beneficial in many ways for you. So, why should you bother doing them? There are so many opportunities given in ASAs to add to your academic record. When institutions see that you have done an ASA, it indicates that you have experience with a particular skill or activity. So, many universities across the world would appreciate you participating in a club. Extracurricular activities are also highly encouraged because they really add to your academic profile, no matter what skill you decide to learn or what activity you decide to do.Even if academics are not considered, ASAs are also really fun. It feels good to participate in an activity you like for a while after a long day at school. So, they are also good for your mental health and well-being in this sense, which are important matters and should be taken care of. Some ASAs provide support with school subjects, too. So if you feel you need help with a tricky subject, you can participate in those ASAs. Usually, these are led by teachers of the subject in question who will guide you and help you nail that pesky subject. This way, they directly benefit your studies and grades, too. If you think youre up to the task, you can even lead your own ASA. Is there a club you would like to see happen at your school? Be the change. It takes a lot of effort to do that, but it pays off. Not only is this extremely beneficial for your academic profile, but there is an increased demand for student-led ASAs, too. Take the initiative. Therefore, ASAs are beneficial and important in a variety of ways and are absolutely worth participating in. If you can find time in your schedule, it would be a great idea to participate in some. Perhaps, you could learn a new skill or try an activity youve never done before. You never know, maybe you will like it.

RAINING ON DEMAND THE MARVEL OF CLOUD SEEDING
Picture this: an arid desert landscape where the sun’s scorching rays beat down relentlessly and the thought of rain seems like a distant dream... But hold on to your umbrellas, because the UAE has discovered a way to turn the skies into their very own celestial water park! Today, we are fortunate enough to witness such a scientific milestone leave its mark on our community. As scientists are constantly working diligently towards innovating technology in order to make this process possible, it is evident that they will continue to impress the world by taking ‘making it rain’ to another level, one cloud at a time!
You might be asking yourself, What is cloud seeding? In short, it is nourishing our clouds with the needed “seeds” to make them grow and, better yet, produce rain. Cloud seeding is a crucial weather modification technique that improves a cloud’s ability to produce rain or snow. This is done by introducing tiny ice nuclei into certain types of subfreezing clouds. These nuclei provide a base for snowflakes to form. After cloud seeding takes place, the newly formed snowflakes grow and fall from the clouds back to the surface of the Earth. Thus, increasing snowpack and streamflow.

Now, you may wonder, why on Earth does the UAE need to make it rain? Well, my fellow reader, that is because the UAE’s climate is hotter than a habanero in a sauna during a sunny summer day, and rainfall is about as common as a snowstorm in the Sahara. Therefore, since 1900, the UAE has been remotely operating this program from ground-based generators or aircraft, and introducing natural salts or hydroscopic agents into clouds to enhance rainfall. Most of these operations utilize a compound called silver iodide, which aids in the formation of ice crystals. Although silver iodide only exists at a low concentration in the environment, it is not known to be harmful to humans or wildlife. Therefore, it is considered completely safe.
Once the storm systems move through one of the cloud seeding project areas (which are mainly drought-prone regions), a solution containing a small concentration of silver iodide is burned from ground-based generators or released from aircraft.

Upon reaching the cloud, the silver iodide acts as an ice-forming nuclei to aid the formation of snowflakes, putting on an unpredictable performance. So far, the nation has invested around 18 million dollars in rain enhancement projects, performing around 1,000 hours of cloud seeding annually. And what an investment it has been! Meteorologists concluded that the UAE’s cloud seeding program has increased the average annual rainfall by 10 to 15 percent
In conclusion, the UAE s cloud seeding antics are nothing short of a desert fantasy turned reality, and a successful quest that can only be described as a page out of Mother Nature’s wildest dreams. Who knows, maybe one day they’ll master the art of cloud-controlled weather, and we’ll have to thank the UAE for finally answering the ageold question, “Can you really make it rain in the desert?”

1. 2. 3. 4 5. Written by Twarita Verma Edited by Alicia TayarUrban Legends
Urban legends have long been a fascinating aspect of our cultural fabric. These captivating stories, often whispered in hushed tones around campfires or shared fervently in late-night conversations, blend fact and fiction to create narratives that haunt our collective imagination. .
The origins of urban legends can be traced to a variety of sources. Many are based on real events or incidents but are embellished or distorted as they are retold, making the story hazy and not so clear at times. Others are entirely fabricated but presented as if they are grounded in truth Knowing the difference is hard, especially in our society, where people often base these on the play of societal fears, taboos, or common experiences, making them particularly resonant or deep.
Urban legends, sometimes referred to as contemporary folklore, are modern-day myths that spread through word of mouth, social media, or other communication channels. Unlike traditional folklore, which is often passed down over generations, urban legends arise from relatively recent times and reflect the concerns and problems of our modern society, which thrives off of recognition and fame
Urban legends endure because they tap into universal human emotions and fears. They often contain elements of horror, suspense, or the supernatural, which captivate our imaginations and pique our curiosity. Whether it's the chilling tale of the vanishing hitchhiker, the haunting legend of Bloody Mary, or the eerie warning of the kidney heist, these stories stay with us, lingering in the corners of our minds. And no matter how much we say that we don’t believe in these, we really do in the subconscious part of our heads.
Furthermore, urban legends are perpetuated by our desire to share stories that evoke strong emotions. The thrill of fear or the shock of the unexpected twists and turns drives people to pass these tales along, making them viral in the pre-digital age and easily shareable in today's interconnected world.
The psychology behind urban legends is a rich field of study. These stories often serve as cautionary tales, reinforcing social norms and warning against perceived dangers. For example, the legend of the babysitter who receives ominous phone calls from inside the house plays on parental fears of leaving their children in the care of strangers. These evoke feelings of fear and distrust.

More about it
Additionally, urban legends can act as a form of collective catharsis. They allow us to confront our anxieties and deepest fears in a safe, controlled manner, most of the time. By sharing these stories, we process our emotions and anxieties, transforming them into narratives that we can understand and, to some extent, control. While these stories obviously sometimes stick with us, there is a sense of fear that controls the way we think.
The advent of the internet has transformed the way urban legends spread. While these stories once thrived in the oral tradition, they now propagate through email chains, social media, and online forums. The speed and reach of the internet have allowed urban legends to evolve and adapt at an unprecedented rate. We can take this article as an example. We are telling you the reasoning behind Urban legends, and if you ’ re interested in this topic, if you ’ re anything like me, you ’ re more inclined to research some of the urban legends that have been mentioned.
Furthermore, the internet has given rise to a new form of urban legend: creepypasta. Creepypastas are fictional horror stories, often accompanied by unsettling images or videos, that are shared and modified by online communities. Slender Man, a tall, faceless figure with tentacle-like appendages, is a prime example of a creepypasta that has gained widespread recognition and even inspired real-life incidents.

In conclusion, Urban legends continue to thrive in our society, captivating our imaginations and sparking discussions about the unknown and the unexplained. These stories, born from a blend of fact and fiction, tap into our deepest fears and desires, making them both unsettling and irresistible. They’re so interesting to talk about and to share insights and opinions about, and they make excellent conversations. As long as there are mysteries, fears, and a desire for storytelling, urban legends will persist, evolving with the times and continuing to captivate our collective consciousness. So, the next time you hear a chilling tale whispered in the dark, remember that you may be witnessing the birth of a new urban legend, destined to endure for generations to come.

E r a s T o u r m o v i e
WrittenbyVaishnaviPrasad EditedbyAliciaTayarThis year, we witnessed Taylor Swift change the music industry. Now, she's on to take over the film industry, and we are SO here for it.

Around a month ago, Taylor completed the US Leg of her 'Eras Tour'. As described by many, this tour has been nothing short of a magical experience for numerous fans. From the country vibes of her debut album to her more mature newer albums, the Eras Tour was an incredible musical journey for both Taylor and her fans. With staggering visuals, enchanting performances (quite literally, iykyk), flawless setlists, and numerous Swiftie easter eggs, this tour showcased Swift's growth as a musician and celebrated her as an artist. This tour not only made millions of dollars but also paved the way for Taylor to set the film industry on fire.
On the 31st of August, Taylor announced on her Instagram that this tour would be coming to the big screen soon. She also described the tour as one of "the most meaningful experiences" of her life. While some are applauding this genius business move, many fans are simply overjoyed to be able to watch the Eras tour for a much more affordable price. Taylor even encouraged some tour traditions to continue with the film, such as Eras attire, friendship bracelets, and the given singing and dancing.
Scheduled to release on October 13th this year, it has already started breaking records. The Eras tour shattered ticket sales records last year, and now the movie has started to break records again. The Eras Tour movie beat the previous single-day sales record, which was held by Spider-Man: No Way Home, and now holds the title for the most single-day sales record for AMC, and it only took three hours after the ticket presale went live. The film ranked among the best first-day ticket sellers from DC, Star Wars, and Marvel. Set to include behindthe-scenes filming, exclusive scenes, and recordings of performances, this film is going to be the next big thing. However, unless you live in North America, the chances of you watching this on the big screen don't look too good. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is currently scheduled for a cinema release exclusively in North America, providing an opportunity for many Swifties who couldn't attend the concert to live their dreams. While there's a possibility that Taylor's global fanbase might also get a chance to experience it in the future, we don't know much on that front. As all the Swifties would say, this global sensation of a person is not letting anyone go without a taste of her music. Do you think the Eraserhead tour movie will get screened around the world? What are your theories? Has she dropped any Easter eggs? What do you think will happen next?

With summer passing by, let's recall one of the most hilarious trends that started out with a few laughs and then quite literally broke the internet. The ‘Barbenheimer’ trend, combined the two names of the acclaimed movies ‘Oppenheimer’ , which narrated the story of the creation of the first atomic bomb. In addition to, ‘Barbie’ , the film which brought the well-loved doll to life. The reason for this amalgam was the ironic contrast between the two, and the fact that their release dates coincided. In which, one of the movies was based on a terrifying creation, one that was capable of destroying countries, brining shame to the creator himself. While the other movie, revolved around the story of a plastic doll who comes to discover the horrifying truth of the world. This was obviously hilarious and ironic to some. Many people made humorous videos of them changing their outfits from a tuxedo to a fun pink outfit, hinting towards them showing that after they watch the Oppenheimer movie in a suit, they would change to a full pink outfit in a matter of minutes to watch the Barbie movie.

The movie ‘Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, is a film about a live action remake of the famous blonde Barbie doll, played by the remarkable actress Margrot Robbie, and the blonde single Ken, played by actor Ryan Gosling. The film mainly involves the adventuring and exploring of the real world only to discover its horrific cruelty and harsh reality. The movie got a rating of 7.2/10 and an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie "Oppenheimer” is based on the true events of the creation of the atomic bomb by American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The movie was watched by many and got a rating of 8.6/10 on IMDb and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was directed by famous director Christopher Nolan, who directed an array of other wellknown movies, like ‘The Dark Knight’ starring Christian Bale. The actor playing J. Oppenheimer is Cillian Murphy, a prominent actor who has starred in various notable movies such as ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Inception’ .

1989 & speak now (Taylor's Version)

Now if you think that was epic, let me just tell you that on July 7th she added a new song to the set list Long Live. Long Live is the song she wrote for the fans and has such a deep meaning, so I think you can see why it was just the best song to add to the set list on the day of the release and why it meant so much to the fans
Now if you aren’t a swiftie, then you might be asking yourself: Why is she re-recording her albums?
Well, let me tell you, it's a long story To cut a long story short (ifykyk), Taylor's first six albums were stolen, or bought, as some people like to call them, so she’s re-recording her albums, but we aren’t here to delve into that So far, she’s re-recorded three albums, with one on the way, which include Red (Taylor’s Version), Fearless (Taylor’s Version), and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Notice how I said with 1 on the way? Yes, you did read that right! Taylor has now announced the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) The rumors were terrible and cruel, but this time, one of them was true.

After a whole lot of fan speculation about how Taylor was going to announce 1989 (Taylor’s Version) as the last day of the US leg, which ironically was 8/9, she actually did it! She was wearing a whole lot of blue, and the fans just knew! During her acoustic set, wearing a brand new blue outfit for the special occasion, she said, and I quote, “Here we are on the last night of the U S leg of the Eras tour in the eighth month of the year on the ninth day You might have noticed there are some new outfits in the show ” “There's something that I've been planning for a really, really, really ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you about it, I think I'll just sort of show you, " she said, unveiling the cover and release date, which is October 27th, for 1989 (Taylor's Version) on the big screen
Written by Twarita Verma
Imagine the shock that that crowd had! It was wild. Taylor ended the acoustic set with the song “New Romantics,” which is a bonus track on 1989 (the deluxe version) Let me just tell you, that crowd went wild! Especially with the Easter egg that was right in front of their eyes The 5 seagulls in the picture showcase the 5 vault tracks that will be released with the released songs in 1989 (Taylor’s Version). After the announcement of 1989, a lot of Swifties have been saying that she looks so happy on the cover, especially with the deep meaning behind 1989
Taylor Swift has come a long way from where she began, and I think we can all agree on that. She became a 12-time Grammy winner in the most difficult of categories for a girl who was pursuing country music She's swapped genres midway through her career. You name it, she's done it She really is the loudest woman this town has EVER seen

FARMERS MARKET

Do you have a knack for gardening? Or perhaps, just a general fancy for the great outdoors? Imagine a place where you could bide your time in mother nature’s lap, peacefully planting and watering lush, fruitful greenery away from the draining ordeals of student life for a while. Well, now you don’t have to imagine, because it’s real, and it’s happening. The EISJ Farmers’ Market is back in business, and if you think the idea sounds ppealing, we’d be more than happy for you to join our ASA this year! Our club is ll about promoting sustainability and wellbeing throughout the school community hrough gardening, a charming activity which teaches these things and many more. Not only is The Farmers’ Market a huge stress-buster, but it’ll help you learn a ew skill. Whether you ’ re a newbie or a seasoned gardener, you’ll hone your ardening skills and learn all about plant life. After all, what’s not to love?

Of course, sustainability is one of the most important principles in our club. So, we’ll also be hosting some activities and initiatives within the club where we’ll do lots of recycling. Be it upcycling bottles or plastic, decorating the garden, or just making some neat crafts, these activities are going to be loads of fun (and eco-friendly, too)! Not just that, but we’ll be starting loads of initiatives across the school to spread awareness around sustainability and eco-friendliness.
Wellbeing is also a huge focus of ours. A place like school can be filled with stress, with all sorts of pressuring things like exams, projects and whatnot. While it’s important to consistently finish your work and study hard, burning yourself out will impair your productivity. Therefore, it isn’t just important, but absolutely necessary to take care of your mental health. Whether you are quietly watering the plants, reading or simply sitting and relishing in the lush greenery of the garden, The Farmers’ Market is a great place to bust your stress. Taking care of plant life is a satisfying activity which has been shown to calm the mind and improve mood.

And of course, the best thing is that you can also use the Farmers’ Market club for your Service as Action, which is an important part of the IB. It teaches outcomes like collaboration, challenge & new skills, awareness and initiative. Not only that, but joining an environmental organisation like this one will also look pretty good on your university resume, So this club is a good choice even if you just want to add something to your academic record. Therefore, the Farmers’ Market is a great opportunity for you. So, are you interested, then? Our ASA takes place on Wednesdays, so make sure to sign up for it via the ASA registration form. Or, speak to us at 2nd break (Mon-Thu) at the garden. We look forward to seeing you, eco-warrior!

HATTA SIGN HATTA SIGN
Written By: Aditya Bhandarkar Edited By: Siddharth MenonDubai recently achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing the world record for the tallest landmark sign. This sign stands taller than the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, which measures a mere 13.7 meters. Dubai's monumental sign is an impressive 19.28 meters in height and proudly spells out the word "Hatta." Much like its iconic counterpart in the US, this sign illuminates the night sky, serving as a prominent and easily visible landmark round the clock.
The construction of this colossal sign is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing Dubai's tourism industry. It capitalizes on the breathtaking natural beauty and cooler temperatures of the mountainous Hatta region. Notably, the sign can only be accessed on foot, requiring approximately 30 minutes of walking from Hatta Wadi Hub.
Written by : Saeed Al-Falasi | Edited by Aditya BhandarkarAn announcement in the middle of August saw that 6 new countries will join the BRICS economic alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa at the start of 2024 The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and Argentina will soon be the newest members. The new 6 members of the alliance will look to expand and look to add new members in the future as the alliance grows

The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia had good relations with The United States and the western nations until Saudi Arabia boycotted the US Dollar a few months ago. Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE will be valuable additions to the alliance, as both countries have large potential to grow further, especially with their ongoing investments into things like tourism
Iran currently has overwhelmingly negative relations with the likes of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia Iran is currently negotiating with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for a peace agreement and releasing tensions between the two middle eastern powers. They are finally coming to an agreement where they would work together to defeat the United States and become a powerful alliance
Egypt and Ethiopia are bitter rivals as well Ethiopia wanted a part of the Nile river which Egypt needed for importing and exporting goods to its neighbouring countries. Ethiopia is already the second most populous country in Africa and is one of the largest landlocked countries in Africa Now that they will both join BRICS, they are both going to look into coming to an alliance
Argentina, the 8th largest country in the world, is also looking to improve themselves economically by joining the BRICS alliance They are not the strongest country in terms of economy, but Argentina joining can also grow the BRICS alliance and could also benefit Argentina as a country They already have good relations with the United States, but Argentina joining BRICS could bring their relations apart.
Apart from these 6, a few more countries are looking to possibly join BRICS Indonesia, which is the 4th most populous country in the world, Kazakhstan which is the 9th largest country by land, and Algeria which is the 10th largest country by land, and also the largest country in Africa. All of these countries are looking to join in the future but were not included in the 2024 announcement
