IOS is basically an acronym of Basic Input Output System, this is read-only memory (ROM) chip found in computers to start its operation and also ensures its functioning properly.

BIOS is fixed in the motherboard of the computer, it is also called ROM BIOS, PC BIOS or SYSTEM BIOS. When we start the computer the main function of BIOS is to manage all the requirements are in working condition or they are not in working condition and further it proceeds with the loading of OS.

FUNCTIONS OF BIOS The main function of BIOS chip is to start up the computer, loads the operating system, checks the hardware system, loads basic drivers and loads other BIOS programs.

• The primary function of BIOS is to manage all the hardware of the computer with the other drivers of the system with the help of that computer gets a start and get running properly.

• Both The BIOS and the CMOS runs simultaneously and they are incomplete without each other. However, you start your computer, it boosts, it is basically a mechanism on the BIOS chip which reads the data from CMOS chip.

• Bootstrap is a function which exists in the ROM of the computer.

When you turn on the system, it loads automatically. Once the bootstrap performs its function of locating the operating system, then BIOS passes the control.

• BIOS refer to the full set of device drivers in your computer which provides a function between the software and hardware of the system.

The basic requirement of your computer to start and function with the nominal configuration and BIOS ensures the loading of elementary BIOS drivers.
