INTERNSHIP PORTFOLIO
EIMI ORTIZ GARCIA
I am a third-year architecture student at Valencia College I am an ambitious problem solver with inclusive leadership skills and qualities seeking an architecture internship in a firm that will challenge and improve my greater knowledge of architecture. Being bilingual has allowed me to adapt vastly to different environments and has given me the ability to multitask proficiently. Having to work at Ortiz Construction Inc and taking numerous college courses such as design One through Four have allowed me to develop leadership skills and improved my ability to work as a team.
SITE MODEL
The site used for this model is Fort Pulaski, located in Savannah, Georgia A location that has a beach, palm trees, and a pathway leading the individuals to the shoreline In my site model, I represented Fort Pulaski, by including water features and different tectonic layers representing different soil layers we would encounter when a hole is created I created a pathway in the model to lead occupants to the structure This was created so that occupants will not get lost during their visit to the structure
GROUND/ SUB-GROUND
The section drawings show the ground conditions of the structure through a caveman ’ s perspective that are influenced by Allegory of the cave by Plato as well as the above ground area which has a point of arrival for the occupants The walking planes in the second level have observation areas for the occupants which also allows for sunlight to enter the structure
PENDULUM OF TIME
This model was inspired by Casa Feliz, a historic home located in Winter Park, Florida Casa Feliz was moved from it ’ s original location and restored to it ’ s original form; this inspired me to come up with the concept “Pendulum of time, ” a back-and-forth movement happening when Casa Feliz was relocated In this model, there are several unoccupied spaces to allow the occupants to go back and forth, with compressed areas, as well as expanded spaces to allow gathering areas for the occupants
