Peoria Sports Complex Hosts Two Exciting Race Events: AZ Veterans Day Run and Thanksgiving Day Classic THIS NOVEMBER, THE PEORIA SPORTS COMPLEX WILL BE THE HUB FOR RUNNERS AND FAMILIES ALIKE AS IT HOSTS TWO PREMIER RACING EVENTS - THE 11TH ANNUAL AZ VETERANS DAY RUN AND THE ANNUAL THANKSGIVING CLASSIC RACES. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or looking for a family-friendly event, these two races have something for everyone. 11TH ANNUAL AZ VETERANS DAY RUN

On Sunday, Nov. 12, join Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB) Phoenix and StartLine Racing for a dynamic experience, with race distances ranging from a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, to a 1-mile

race. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to Team RWB, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of America’s veterans. The half marathon starts at 7:30 a.m., with other distances starting soon after. The courses take you through dedicated running trails (all asphalt and concrete) of the New River Trail System, starting and ending at the Peoria Sports Complex meaning no need for transportation before or after the race just to get back to your car! Please note - this is an open use trail system and does not close for this event. This year, there will be a Remembrance Garden in the event area. This will be a special area to remember those veterans who are near and dear to our hearts. If you would like to have a special remembrance sign placed in the garden on race day to remember a loved one, it is $15 for a sign placed in the garden. This will cover the cost of the sign and all remaining money will be donated to Team RWB. No money will be kept as profit from this purchase. You can select this option during the registration process. For more information on the 11th Annual AZ Veterans Day Run, visit startlineracing.com.

Savannah Bananas Return to Peoria in 2024 Photo courtesy of Savannah Bananas

AFTER AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE BEFORE A SOLDOUT CROWD IN 2023, THE SAVANNAH BANANAS HAVE ANNOUNCED THEIR RETURN TO THE PEORIA SPORTS COMPLEX IN FEBRUARY 2024 AS THE SECOND STOP ON THE 2024 BANANA BALL WORLD TOUR.

The Savannah Bananas bring their “World Famous Baseball Circus” to the Peoria Sports Complex February 15 to 17. Affectionately referred to as “The Greatest Show in Sports” by ESPN with an atmosphere that would make most MLB teams jealous (“Sports Illustrated”), the Bananas have reimagined the baseball experience and the game itself. Banana Ball is a fastpaced, action-packed style of baseball with rules that include no bunting, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs, batters stealing first base, and a oneon-one tiebreaker showdown at the end of the game, if it’s tied.

To enter the ticket lottery, or to learn more about the VIB program visit: thesavannahbananas.com/tickets or thepartyanimals.com/tickets.

Due to the high demand, fans must enter a ticket lottery and a drawing will take place this December. If selected, you will have a chance to purchase tickets for $35 or VIB (Very Important Banana) tickets for $85. VIB ticket perks include early entry and a meet and greet with your favorite Bananas. 8 • November 2023 • UPPER WESTSIDER
