Education Peoria Unified’s Class of 2022 Earns Record Amount in Scholarships

he Peoria Unified School District’s graduating class of 2022 brought in over $72 million in scholarships to post-secondary institutions, making this a record year for Peoria Unified graduates. This amount includes scholarships for in-state and out-ofstate colleges and universities, merit-based recognitions, private donor, athletic scholarships, and vocational schools. Centennial, Liberty, Peoria and Sunrise Mountain high schools all celebrated a school record amount in scholarship offers with their graduates. A New Principal is Announced for Lake Pleasant Elementary School

A

t the May 12 Peoria Unified Board Meeting, the Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board approved Aaron Bagwell as principal of Lake Pleasant Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year.

Bagwell will oversee all functions at the school site related to Peoria Unified’s Strategic Plan—Student Success, Safety and Well-Being, Community Connection, and Stewardship of Community Resources. He will begin his

new role as principal of Lake Pleasant Elementary School effective July 1. Bagwell joins Peoria Unified from Cave Creek Unified School District, where he served as principal for the past five years. Prior to his tenure in Cave Creek, Bagwell served as an assistant principal in Peoria Unified for five years and as a teacher for seven years. Bagwell brings a wealth of knowledge back to the district and is looking forward to serving the Lake Pleasant community in this new capacity. myhyperlocalnews.com
