SAFETY AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ARE COMING TO SCOTTSDALE ROAD NORTH OF DYNAMITE
Work will begin this month to rebuild a two-mile stretch of Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. The project will improve safety and drainage along this busy corridor.
A key safety improvement is the new multilane roundabout that will replace the current signalized intersection at Scottsdale Road and Dynamite Boulevard.
Roundabouts have been proven to reduce the likelihood of severe crashes by minimizing conflict points and forcing slower vehicle speeds. Roundabouts are also more cost-effective in the long run, requiring less maintenance than traffic signals.
The raised center median that will replace the current continuous center turn lane along this two-mile section is a safety improvement as well. This change will minimize vehicle conflict points, as will new left turn in and left turn out lanes which will be built at busier crossings. Finally, a pedestrian crosswalk signal at Pinnacle Vista Drive, a shared use path and bike lanes will improve safety and usability for pedestrians and bicyclists enjoying the area's natural beauty.
This project will also address drainage issues. In its current configuration, the roadway dips and rises with the contour of the land - which means that substantial rain can create unsafe conditions and force restrictions as water collects in low points along the road. This project will eliminate those low points,
installing a handful new drainage culverts to handle stormwater flows while keeping the roadway clear.
The total project budget is $43.7 million. About $31 million will be funded with federal transportation grant funds, the remainder will come from Scottsdale's dedicated transportation sales tax and regional transportation funds.
A $1 million master planning project has been proposed for the Scottsdale Airport and is funded almost entirely by a Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grant.
This initiative will shape the airport’s future over the next 20 years. The new plan will not include a noise study but will focus solely on essential plan objectives.
Kicked off with an open house guided by Coffman Associates, on Oct. 29, Aviation Director Gary P. Mascaro was quoted as saying, “Embarking on a master plan update is our proactive commitment to securing Scottsdale Airport’s long-term success as we soar to new heights in the aviation industry.” Mascaro went on to state, “This is an opportunity to explore innovative ideas and solutions with many audiences, including airport users, tenants, businesses and community members. Public input will be key to developing a plan that best serves our community.”
The master plan will evaluate current facilities and operations, and prioritize projects that improve safety, efficiency, sustainability and growing
operational demands. By doing so, the plan helps to ensure Scottsdale Airport continues to thrive as one of the nation's top general aviation hubs.
Scottsdale will engage with stakeholders throughout the 18-month process.

THE MARICOPA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HAS APPROVED AN ADDITIONAL $500,000 FOR APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES, INCREASING TOTAL FUNDING TO OVER $12 MILLION AIMED AT CREATING A PIPELINE OF SKILLED WORKERS ACROSS A VARIETY OF CAREER FIELDS.
The apprenticeship program offers training and hands-on experience in various industries, including healthcare, IT, construction, advanced manufacturing, and more, all considered in-demand career paths in the current economic climate. Providing individuals with the necessary training and education, the program aims to bridge the skills gap and address the shortage of skilled workers in these industries.
“The additional funding for the apprenticeship program not only helps residents with an opportunity to obtain skills for a sustainable career, but also helps to meet the workforce needs of growing industries,” says Maricopa County Board
of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers, District 1. “By investing in the workforce, Maricopa County is striving to secure economic growth, which supports stability for all.”
Since the launch of the apprenticeship program in 2022, Maricopa County has served 1,703 participants, with a goal of assisting 3,000 residents find apprenticeships through 2026. Benefits and services provided to participants in the program include national industry certification, tuition assistance, on-the-job training, resume development, and earn-while-you-learn opportunities.
“The ability to earn a living wage while pursuing a new career is crucial to many families that struggle financially,” says Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Thomas Galvin, District 2. “Providing residents with these opportunities to succeed in the workforce is also advantageous because it strengthens industries in Maricopa County and benefits our overall economy.”
The Maricopa County apprenticeship program has been successful in its goal of establishing a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers to support growing industries in the County, and it is well-positioned to continue expanding its reach and impact in the coming years. This achievement led the Human Services Department, in partnership with the Maricopa County Workforce Development Board, receive recognition as a national leader in apprenticeship enrollments by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Funding approved for the apprenticeship program is part of Maricopa County’s $871 million allocation of federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. Learn more about the apprenticeship program and apply for services at Maricopa.gov/Apprentice.
ELVIRA’S IS TAKING OVER THE FORMER JALAPEÑO INFERNO SPACE AT MARKET STREET AT DC RANCH. Founded in Nogales in 1927, Elvira’s moved to Tubac in 2009. The newest expansion to DC Ranch is a partnership between Elvira’s ownership, celebrity chef Ruben Monroy and Valley restauranteur Tom Kaufman.
Unlike the Sonoran-influenced Mexican restaurants that dominate the Valley, Elvira’s specializes in southern Mexico City cuisine. Offerings will feature signature moles with up to 28 ingredients, seafood, dry-aged beef and house-made tortillas cooked to order. Some of the planned dishes include blistered shishito peppers, marinated grilled prawn echabeche salad,
cuitlacoche and chicken, prime flank steak molcajete and hazelnut mole.
The two-story space will have private velvet seating areas, lime-washed walls, antique mirrors and a walk-in temperature-controlled wine cellar and tasting room. Expected opening is late November. Join their email list at elvirasdcranch.com.
NEWS IS SPREADING ABOUT A SCOTTSDALE DEVELOPER THAT IS PLANNING A 23-ACRE PROJECT IN CAREFREE THAT COULD BRING MORE THAN 100,000 SQUARE FEET OF RETAIL AND RESTAURANTS TO THE TOWN.
The site is located at Cave Creek Road and Carefree Highway and has been named Carefree Quarter. Plans for the development go back all the way to 2018 and according to town documents, two developers have previously planned to develop the same site. The projects main hiccup is an onsite wash that needs to be relocated. Empire Group, the current developer of the proposed project, has partnered with Scottsdale-based Diversified Partners to bring on tenants and move the project forward. Empire is also proposing it gain a sales tax incentive to help with the cost of relocation of the wash.
Carefree’s primary source of revenue is through
sales tax, and the addition of this retail development would be a boon to the town’s coffers, according to a report prepared by Steve Prokopek, the economic development director for the town. The report states that the site is not economically feasible as a retail development without the incentive.
Carefree is a small community, with an estimated population of 3,708 in 2023 according to the Arizona Commerce Authority. The town does not impose a property tax on residents, so the town's funding mostly comes from sales tax. A boost in sales tax collection from the new retail development will bring notable funding to the town.
Town leadership has named this development as a priority. The site is nearby a commercial corridor to the southwest, but those businesses are located in neighboring Cave Creek and do not generate taxes
for Carefree. Last month the town council voted to move forward on a retail redevelopment tax incentive agreement that would eventually provide up to $7 million to reimburse the cost of relocating the wash and other improvements including water lines and streets.
The incentive will be structured so that 51% of the taxes generated during the incentive period will be retained by the town and 49% would be reimbursed to the developer. This structure allows the town to retain more of a benefit than it would be giving away. A full development agreement is expected to go before the town council in this month.
If the development agreement is approved in November, the developer believes they will break ground in early 2025 with openings expected in the second or third quarter of 2026.

ACCORDING TO THE BUSINESS JOURNAL, DESERT MOUNTAIN RANKED AS THE MOST ASSET-RICH NONPROFIT COUNTRY CLUB IN THE NATION.
The club boasts a balance sheet more than two times larger than No. 2 ranked Westchester Country Club in New York.
Memberships to Desert Mountain Country Club, located at 37700 N. Desert Mountain Pkwy. are available by invitation-only and will set you back $200,000 for the initiation fee alone. Currently there is a waitlist to join.
It looks like Desert Mountain is not slowing down either, as assets are on the rise. Desert Mountain’s 2023 990 IRS filing reported an 11% increase over 2022. Many experts say asset values are not an exact indicator of club wealth or health, and that clubs often value or depreciate assets differently. However, when properly used to reinvest into the club’s wellbeing, it can be a key component in attracting new memberships.
PINNERS CONFERENCE — THE TWODAY EXPERIENCE THAT BRINGS ONLINE INSPIRATION TO LIFE THROUGH 120 CREATIVE, EDUCATIONAL EXPERT-LED CLASSES AND A MASSIVE SHOPPING EXHIBITION WITH 300 VENDOR BOOTHS — RETURNS TO ARIZONA THIS FALL. The event takes place at WestWorld of Scottsdale, located at 16601 N. Pima Rd., on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9.
“We could not be more excited to return to Scottsdale and present the Arizona Pinners Conference to our many supporters,” said Kendall Bennett, who co-founded the event with Roxanne Bennett. “We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new ones, too, as we host our best Pinners yet with incredible vendors, shopping opportunities and so much more!”
In 2015, the Bennetts founded the Pinners Conference in Salt Lake City with the idea to bring the spirit of Pinterest to life. Through these events, guests are encouraged to learn, create and connect through workshops and opportunities that empower them to customize their experience while interacting with other passionate “DIYers,” creators, experts, influencers and retailers.
Bringing Pinterest to life was the initial impetus for this event; however, attendees don’t need to be on Pinterest
to experience everything there is to see, do and take away from the Pinners Conference. There are endless opportunities throughout the course of the two-day experience for attendees to meet with, and learn from, some of the most influential and inspiring women on the internet. Pinners features experts in topics such as DIY, crafts, cooking, self-improvement, photography, party planning, scrapbooking, holiday, beauty and fashion, and much more.
During the event, guests can enhance and improve their skills across a range of niches, take home finished projects and leave with the knowledge to propel their personal advancement in a new capacity. Pinners serves as a place to create lasting memories, build relationships and empower guests to create without limitation.
Pinners Conference continues to bring some of the best brands together under one roof. This year’s event sponsors include Ryobi, Magnolia Design Co., FamilySearch, Makerflo Crafts, Experience Scottsdale and Mulqueen.
General admission tickets are $12 and include entry to the exhibition hall and shopping area. Attendance for kids ages eight and younger is free.
Class passes range from $22 to $39, including admission. Many classes will have optional kits available for purchase as well.
Event hours are Friday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. All ticket options are available online ataz.pinnersconference. com as well as at the door prior to entry. Parking is available in the north parking lot of Westworld for $10.

DEAR SCOTTSDALE FAMILIES, Scottsdale honors those in our community who have served, and continue to serve, in the armed forces of the United States each year. We proudly salute our veterans, those on active duty, and members of the National Guard and reserves who are truly valued members of Scottsdale.
Each November, Scottsdale hosts a variety of special recognition events to thank our veterans. The Scottsdale Salutes recognition program is one of them and was initiated by the Scottsdale Veterans Advisory Commission, a group of seven residents appointed by the City Council to advise on veterans’ issues and raise awareness of veterans’ contributions within the community. Scottsdale Salutes features light pole banners of local veterans and military
service members displayed in Old Town for two weeks each November in conjunction with a special recognition ceremony hosted by the city.
Countless veterans have contributed to making Scottsdale a great city. Three special Scottsdale veterans of note include Guy Stillman, Jim Geiser, and Jacob Johnson.
Commissioned in the U.S. Navy in 1941, Guy Stillman was initially assigned as Executive & Engineering Officer for the Navy’s PT Boat squadron in Cairns, Australia. He served in PT Boats in the Southwest Pacific – Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines until April 1945. After the war, he continued service in the Naval reserves, served as a national officer of the Reserve Officers Association, and was a major benefactor and creator of McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.
Jim Geiser graduated Scottsdale High School in 1965, enlisted in the U.S. Marines at age 21 and served a year in Vietnam before achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant; subsequently commissioned as an officer and served in the USMC Reserve for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Major. Jim initiated the Arizona State University Veterans Memorial to honor ASU alumni killed during military service, and organized the Scottsdale Memorial for the Fallen to honor Scottsdale-area residents killed in military service.
Jacob Johnson is the current City of Scottsdale acting Emergency Manager. He is a Scottsdale resident who, before joining the city, served from 2000 to 2020 in the U.S. Army in Special Forces as a Green Beret with combat deployments in support of the war on terror.
Scottsdale has a long tradition of residents and employees who have served in our armed forces honorably.
Founder, Captain Winfield Scott, was a U.S. Army Civil War veteran. The skills veterans bring home are valuable in our workforce, especially in municipal government. Today, Scottsdale celebrates hundreds of veterans, active duty, National Guard and reserve members.
May God bless our veterans and all United States military personnel!

Desert Hills Community School of Music (DHCSM) is excited to invite students to enroll in its new Recording Studio Lab class. Created thanks to a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Carefree, Recording Studio Lab (RSL) will train students aged 10 through adult in the fundamental principles of music recording, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to effectively record and produce their own music. Students do not need any musical training to attend the RSL class, which will be held on the campus of Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 34605 N. Tom Darlington Rd. in Scottsdale.
Jointly taught by Kevin Weingartner and Shane Vance, the RSL class will also provide students with an opportunity to record others, including individual
concerts. Weingartner, who serves as director of bands at Cactus Shadows High School, holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Audio Production Technologies, works as a freelance DJ and audio specialist, and is so passionate about teaching audio production to middle- and high-school students that he named his dog “Audio.” Vance has many years of recording experience and has independently released two albums from his own studio.
Recording Studio Lab is a hands-on class that will provide students with a strong foundation in recording techniques and the ability to use various recording tools and software. Topics covered may include: introduction to recording, exploring the history and evolution of recording in order to help students better understand today’s equipment and capabilities; digital audio
recording session and basic editing and mixing techniques; practical recording sessions, where students will learn to set up and record different instruments and vocals, overdub and layer tracks, and apply effects and processing; and other hands-on activities, such as setting up and recording a live band, creating and editing MIDI tracks and mixing a multi-track session.
The goal of building an RSL arose following the popularity of the “Recording Studio” elective at DHCSM’s 2024 summer Band Camp. With funds from the Kiwanis Club’s Major Projects Grant Award, DHCSM was able to purchase the necessary equipment and build a portable recording studio as part of its ongoing mission to expand music education opportunities for students in the North Scottsdale, Carefree and Cave Creek
The Recording Studio Lab classes are held on Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. Attendance will be capped at six in the Fall 2024 semester. To register or learn more, visit deserthillsmusic.org/recording-
Poets, writers and rappers in grades 9-12 are invited to experience a day of learning, creating and expressing who they are and what is on their minds with “America’s Got Talent” Season 15 winner Brandon Leake at the High School Poetry Jam, taking place November 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Holland Center, 34250 N. 60th Street.
School groups, creative writing classes, literary clubs and solo poet hobbyists from anywhere in Arizona will be able to hear Leake perform spoken word and learn his tips and tricks for making art with words and voice using raw emotion, energy and freedom. No experience is necessary.
“Often times we have stories and emotions that we just need to express and get out,” said Leake. “This is a space to share those thoughts – without judgement – on stage, if you choose, or just in your notebook.”
“Expression through poetry is recognized by health professionals as a valuable healing tool,” added Jennifer Rosvall, The Holland Center Executive Director. “We are humbled and honored that Brandon will be at The Holland Center to not only teach poetry as art, but also help our youth see poetry as a healthy outlet for their thoughts and emotions.”
Tickets are $10 each and include lunch and a swag bag. Space is limited and will fill up fast. To secure a spot, please purchase tickets as soon as possible at hollandcenter.org/event/poetry-jam.
Brandon Leake is an award-winning spoken-word poet, artistic educator and motivational speaker from Stockton, Calif. He is best known for his 2020 America's Got Talent (AGT) win, earning the coveted golden buzzer, and is the competition's first (and only) spoken-word poetry champion. His
creative mixture of art, charisma and passion tailored to his own unique personal narrative has taken him across the world as a speaker and performer.
Leake has performed in locations such as New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and 36 U.S. states for his “Dark Side Tour,” which promotes his first-ever published poetry chapbook and his crown jewel, “Deficients: A Tale From My Dark Side” – an album rooted in transparency and healing.
Brandon is also the founder and CEO of Called to Move (CTM), an artistry organization with the pursuit of aiding youth in self-actualizing and personally developing through the art of poetry. This endeavor has led to Brandon leading workshops around the world with several curricula he has developed himself, and in particular, teaching youth in his hometown of Stockton, CA.
Scottsdale is seeking artists in grades K-12 to help design the patch for the Scottsdale Patch program, a collaboration between the city and Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC). The Scottsdale Patch program will roll out in the spring of 2025 and will be an excellent way for Girl Scouts to learn more about Scottsdale and all the city has to offer.

• The design must be the student's original work.
• It must include the words "GSACPC" and "Scottsdale."
• It should also include elements of Scottsdale, prominent places, landmarks, cultural or historical references.
The winning design will be selected by a committee of Scottsdale and GSACPC staff. The winner will be notified by Dec. 13.
Contest details for parents and participants are available on the city’s website at scottsdaleaz.gov/youth-teen-programs/girl-scout-patch-program

Get ready to mix some magic with this bubbling potion experiment! Using dry ice and a few household items, you can create a frothy, foggy brew that looks straight out of a wizard’s workshop. Perfect for kids who love hands-on science with a magical twist!
WHAT YOU NEED
• A cookie sheet or cake pan
• A tall glass of water
• Dry ice (about 2 pounds)
• Liquid dish soap
• Food coloring
MIXING THE MAGIC
1. Set Up Your Station: Place a tall glass of water in the center of your cookie sheet or cake pan. This will catch any
overflowing bubbles, keeping the mess to a minimum.
2. Add the Dry Ice: Carefully drop a small piece of dry ice into the glass of water. Instantly, you’ll see a foggy mist forming as the dry ice turns into carbon dioxide gas. Note: Avoid touching dry ice directly with your skin! It’s so cold that it can cause burns similar to frostbite, so always use gloves or tongs to handle it safely.
3. Color the Potion: Add a few drops of food coloring to the water.
4. Create the Bubbles: Squeeze some liquid dish soap into the water. In moments, bubbles will form, filling with the foggy gas and overflowing from the glass.
5. Enjoy the Fun: Watch the bubbles grow and spill over the sides, then pop them to release the mist inside!
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, which must be kept below -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit to remain in its solid form—that’s seriously cold! What makes dry ice unique is that it undergoes sublimation, meaning it changes directly from a solid to a gas without turning into liquid first. When you add dry ice to water, it releases carbon dioxide gas, which creates the fog you see. Adding dish soap traps the gas in bubbles, causing them to froth and foam. This fun bubbling effect is a great way to explore concepts like sublimation, density, and gas formation! It's also a bit of Halloween-style fun.

On Thursday, December 12, the MIM Music Theater at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) will play host to the Grammy-nominated sensation Marilyn Maye. Attendees are in for a timeless performance from this treasure of the jazz and cabaret worlds, who has headlined Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops and received multiple standing ovations at her MIM appearance last year.
Described by the “New York Times” as “still enterprising and still twinkling at nearly 96, the last of a great generation of American Songbook singers,” Marilyn Maye’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. Starting her professional singing career at the tender age of nine, she has since dedicated her life to the art of song and performance. Steve Allen was instrumental in bringing her talent to a national audience, leading to her storied tenure on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” where she appeared an astonishing 76 times. As Carson once noted, “And that, young singers, is the way it's done.”
In a glowing tribute, the “New York Observer” encapsulates her artistry: “She can belt, and she can sing ballads with the kind of warmth that makes your heart smile… She’s the real deal.” And she is. Her accolades include having her recording “Too Late Now” selected by the Arts Council of the Smithsonian for an album representing the 110 best American compositions of the 20th century.
Her dynamism isn’t bound by the studio recordings; her live performances are magnetic. Will Friedwald from the “Wall Street Journal” observed, “Ms. Maye is the only pop-song diva working today who can satisfy both the Broadway and jazz crowds at once. And she does, with an enviable prowess and energy that belies her age, earning her the title of being 'younger than springtime.”
Her upcoming engagement at the MIM Music Theater is poised to be a culmination of all her experiences and achievements. With each song, Maye makes it her own, her off-thecuff comments drawing hearty laughter from the audience while her backing musicians complement her without overshadowing her brilliance.
But what makes the December 12 performance even more remarkable is the venue — the Musical Instrument Museum, located at 4725 E. Mayo Blvd, in Phoenix, stands as a testament to the universality of music. Founded by Bob Ulrich, the former CEO of Target Corporation, MIM showcases instruments played daily by people worldwide, emphasizing that music is, indeed, the language of the soul. With over 7,500 instruments from more than 200 countries, MIM is an immersive journey into the world of music.
Visitors don’t just see instruments; they experience them. State-of-the-art interactive media allows one to hear the sounds and witness the instruments being played in their original cultural context. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, diversity, and the profound sensory nature of music. And the MIM Music Theater has had an array of awardwinning talent grace its stage—from Don McLean to Sergio Mendes and Judy Collins to Samara Joy and Diane Reeves. Plus, the theater is getting ready to roll out its “Winter Concert Series” later this month, with over 50 shows featuring Americana, folk, jazz, classical, and world music.
Marilyn Maye’s performance at MIM isn’t just another concert. It’s a melding of two musical forces, both dedicated to celebrating the universal resonance and power of song. As MIM aims to deliver an experience that is “enriching, inspiring, interesting, and fun,” Maye is the perfect embodiment of that mission.
In a world often divided, Marilyn Maye's performance at the MIM Music Theater is a beautiful reminder of the power of music to unite, to inspire, and to remind us of our shared language. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly for this event. Those eager to be part of this unforgettable evening should call 480-478-6000 or visit mim.org/concerts
Foothills Caring Corps (FCC) invites the community to participate in the 13th Annual Golf Classic on Monday, December 2, at the prestigious Mirabel Private Golf Club in Scottsdale.
The event serves as a day of camaraderie and sport and as FCC’s sole fundraising initiative of the year, providing critical support for services that benefit older adults and individuals with disabilities in the northeast Valley.
This year’s Golf Classic holds special significance as the organization honors the life and legacy of Noah, the founder of Kendrick Wealth Management and a beloved community member who passed away earlier this year. Noah was a devoted supporter of FCC, whose unwavering generosity has made an enduring impact on the lives of many.
Foothills Caring Corps has provided more than 28,600 service touchpoints in the past year, meeting the needs of vulnerable residents with the following programs:
• 19,342 mobile meals delivered
• 3,879 non-emergency medical trips
• 3,530 recreational van trips
• 1,151 mobility equipment loans
“The Golf Classic plays a vital role in keeping our programs running,” said Brent Downs, Executive Director of FCC. “This year, we’ve seen the highest demand for our services in over 24 years, and our goal of raising $110,000 is critical to meeting the increasing needs of our community.”
Participants can support the Golf Classic in multiple ways:
• Golfers can enjoy a day at the Mirabel Private Golf Club while contributing to a meaningful cause.
• Sponsors can promote their businesses while making a tangible impact on the community.
• Donors who can’t attend the event can still contribute financially to support the programs that matter most.
• Supporters can also help by spreading the word to friends, family, and colleagues.
All contributions from this event will stay within the local community, ensuring older adults and individuals with disabilities receive the assistance they need to live with dignity and independence.

We are extremely humbled to learn that Hospice of the Valley has been ranked third in the entire country for providing quality care to patients and families. A new study ranking the 50 largest U.S. hospices was recently published in the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The study, “Caregiver and Employee Experience Among Big Hospices,” looked at three quality indicators: Medicare surveys of families assessing patient care and support; caregiver satisfaction and employee satisfaction ratings.
It is an honor to be so highly regarded by families who have entrusted us to care for their loved ones. This is a true testament to the specialized care our staff provide each and every day. They are passionate about this important work and dedicated to our mission — bringing comfort, dignity and compassionate care to our community.
This comprehensive study also found that even though 74% of the market is dominated by for-profit hospices, the top 10 highest-quality hospices in the nation are all nonprofits. Hospice of the Valley is the only nonprofit hospice in Maricopa County and has always cared for all in need, regardless of insurance or financial resources. This study shows that caregivers expressed higher satisfaction with nonprofits, and nonprofit hospice employees felt a deeper commitment to delivering exceptional care.
Our clinical teams cared for nearly 28,000 patients and their families last year in Maricopa and northern Pinal counties and Tucson. Since we were founded in 1977, we have continued to expand programs to meet evolving needs and bridge gaps in the healthcare system. We are the only Arizona hospice providing in-home primary care for frail and vulnerable patients; in-home supportive care at earlier stages of illness; and hospice care for children and adults in the comfort of home. And our innovative Dementia Care and Education Campus helps improve quality of life for people living with all types and stages of the condition and supports their caregivers. Families can always speak to a nurse 24/7 and they derive comfort in knowing we are there for them — any time of day or night.
It has been our privilege to serve our community these past 47 years. We are grateful for the employees who have made us Arizona’s leading hospice provider and for the patients and families who choose Hospice of the Valley to walk alongside them during this meaningful time.
We are here to support all those in need. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at (602) 530-6900 or hov.org.
HI, MY NAME IS… Jason Monczka.
MY OCCUPATION IS… Head Honcho, Jr. at PomeroyGroup Insurance and cofounder of Keymakers.org
I’VE LIVED IN SCOTTSDALE CUMULATIVELY ALMOST 28 YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… I’ve built my network and a phenomenal community here, not to mention my two daughters, who were both born and raised in Scottsdale.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… My days are everything, except typical! I’m passionate about (good) people, which has allowed me to create an incredibly vast and influential network that keeps me constantly busy with events and such with some of the most amazing people in Arizona!
MY FAMILY IS… I have three main priorities in my life, and my daughters have been, and always will be my number one priority!
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… I’m not sure; I’ve never tried living without something that’s important to me. Frankly, why would I?
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY…
This answer would entail me writing a novel, which I’m sure your readers wouldn’t appreciate. There are so many amazing movies that I lean on for great life references, not the least of which is “Step Brothers.” My daughters have watched that movie with me countless times and the endless laughter from the lines in that movie are simply priceless! And hysterical, especially when we reference those lines unexpectedly in our everyday conversations!
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… I actually only wanted to be a homebuilder when I was younger. Throughout my career I have built / been responsible for building over 2,000 single-family homes. I was born into that career path and with the help and support of my dad, and I built my first home while still in high school at the age of 17. I strongly believe that kids today are not given real responsibilities by their parents at a young age, which is working completely against both young adults and their parents in today’s times. I could talk passionately about this topic for hours and hours.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… “Simple Man,” of course!
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… Myself. I believe we all need to find what motivates us individually. A good part of my motivation is wanting my daughters to always look up to me, and come to me for advice and guidance. Keeping those kind of thoughts “front and center” in my mind certainly helps keep me motivated, especially with my moral compass.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… I laugh a LOT! Laughing is one of the best things in life, and it’s both free and priceless! Taking my youngest daughter to dinner for her 19th birthday was two hours of non-stop laughing. I had the gift to always make my dad laugh, and my daughter has this same gift with me!
THE PERFECT DAY IS… If I’m not working or entertaining clients for work, I thoroughly enjoy taking my daughters to dinner or doing absolutely nothing. Or when I have the rare time, cooking all afternoon on a Sunday, along with some reading and/or a movie, and hopefully some wine and great company. That would be an almost perfect day in my book.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS…
I serve on the Board of the Colten Cowell Foundation, and it’s both amazing and humbling, all at the same time.
MY LIFE IS… Here is a quote that came to be a long time ago, after I went through a divorce and it’s more or less insight into how I think about my life:
“Life is a puzzle, however it is your vision of that puzzle that makes life
so great. Sometimes the pieces are all there. Sometimes the pieces are missing and you need to do your best to put the pieces that you have together. Those pieces may be bent, crooked, broken or may be the wrong pieces altogether, however as long as you try, and “never give up... don’t ever give up” then one day that puzzle, your vision comes together. Maybe not in the way you saw it in the beginning, however in a more beautiful, authentic way. Because it is yours, AND ONLY YOURS.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… Someone’s time. Nothing in the world is more valuable than the time someone genuinely wants to give you.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… I’ve taken a lot of “dream vacations” throughout my life. I’m currently planning a culinary trip to Paris and an architectural trip to Scotland, both in 2025.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… Just figure it out! That type of advice is seriously missing in today’s youth and young adults!
Belgravia Group, Chicago’s award-winning real estate development firm with more than 75 years of luxury projects constructed under its brand, has announced its second North Scottsdale development, Atavia. The project has received Scottsdale Design Review Board (DRB) approval and follows the rapid and successful sell-out of its first North Scottsdale project, Portico.
Atavia will be developed in North Scottsdale’s new “luxury corridor” at Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road. Located adjacent to Portico, Atavia will bring a limited collection of 88 luxury residences to the heart of DMB’s One Scottsdale project.
“The North Scottsdale market continues to be our main focus, and following the tremendous demand we experienced at Portico, having the opportunity to develop another project right next door makes a ton of sense for this growing community,” said Jonathan McCulloch, CEO of Belgravia Group. “Atavia will bring to Scottsdale a completely unique condominium product. The homes at Atavia are designed to blend the breathability of single-family living, such as private entries and attached two-car garages, with the carefree convenience of lock-and-leave condominium ownership.”
Designed by the award-winning international architecture firm KTGY, Atavia redefines modern luxury living in North Scottsdale and features a clubhouse inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Taliesin West. Homeowners will also enjoy a sparkling pool and spa, fully equipped fitness center, private indoor/outdoor yoga studio, outdoor fireplace, lush courtyards and a golf simulator.
Homes at Atavia leave nothing to be desired. Thoughtful design and functionality are married to create a timeless, eminently livable experience. The homes feature 10-foot ceilings, Italian cabinetry, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, private elevators, and expansive rooftop decks of up to 570 square feet that create the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments.
Atavia’s residences will include floor plans for 2, 3 and 4-bedroom residences priced from the $800’s to $1.7 million.
Portico sold out months ahead of schedule, and broker Cambridge Properties aims to continue this momentum for Atavia.
“We’re continuing to see a strong interest in the
Scottsdale luxury market, and Atavia is the type of development we tend to see sell out quickly, as shown by the success of Portico,” said Keith Mishkin, President and Designated Broker at Cambridge Properties. “On top of high demand for properties of this type, Atavia’s standout features truly make it a product that will move fast.”
Belgravia Group’s sterling reputation and intuitive home designs have collected numerous accolades throughout its tenure, including Portico being named Multifamily Project of the Year in both Phoenix Agent Magazine and the Scottsdale Progress. Belgravia Group will bring its signature, stress-free home buying experience to Atavia with highly livable floor plans, renowned building designs and a vertically-integrated customer purchasing process that allows for a seamless experience from handshake to move-in.
Atavia will begin accepting unit reservations this month.

With the 2024 Presidential election just around the corner, it’s no surprise that uncertainty is in the air. Questions like “Should I wait to buy or sell until after the campaign season?” are natural, especially given how divided this political race feels. In Scottsdale North, where we’re likely just as politically split as the rest of the country, it might seem like real estate decisions should be put on pause. Before pressing the brakes, let’s review the data on how past cycles affected the housing market. The data tells a clear story: these political cycles rarely have a lasting impact on real estate.
HOME SALES: A TEMPORARY DIP, FOLLOWED BY A STRONG RECOVERY
One of the most common fears during campaign season is that home sales will tank. While it’s true that sales tend to slow down in the months leading up to a presidential election, this effect is both minor and temporary.
In the chart, you’ll see that while there’s typically a small drop in home sales from October to November, this slowdown is short-lived. In fact, after nine of the last 11 presidential elections, home sales rebounded the following year, even surpassing previous levels. This trend has been consistent since the early 1990s. So, while some buyers and sellers may wait on the sidelines before the election, the market tends to make a full recovery—and then some—once the results are in.
Another concern you might have is whether home
prices will drop during the election. The data suggests otherwise. Historical trends show that home prices generally continue upward, regardless of political outcomes.
This chart shows that after seven of the last eight elections, home prices increased in the year following the presidential election. The only exception? The 2008 financial crisis had far more to do with the housing bubble than with politics. Since then, home prices have risen after nearly every election cycle. So, if you’re waiting for prices to drop due to political uncertainty, you might be waiting for something that just doesn’t happen. Here in Scottsdale North, where demand is consistently high, this trend is even more pronounced.
Finally, let’s address mortgage rates, a key factor for buyers. Historically, mortgage rates tend to decrease, not increase, in the months surrounding a presidential election.
November, and we’re already seeing that trend start to unfold this year. Experts forecast that rates will continue to ease slightly through the rest of 2024, which could be a big win for buyers looking to lock in a lower rate before making a purchase.
All the data points to one conclusion: while political seasons stir up emotions, their impact on the housing market is minimal, especially in high-demand areas like Scottsdale North. Sure, we might see a brief slowdown in sales as some people wait to see the race results, but home prices are expected to stay steady, and mortgage rates might even improve. And once the election season is over, we can expect the market to return to its usual pace.
Don’t let the political season halt your plans. Whether you’re buying or selling, the market will keep moving forward, and so should you. If you want to discuss your options or better understand how this election might impact your unique situation, let’s connect. I’m here to help you navigate the rest of 2024 and beyond.

You’ve probably been told by friends or advisors to avoid probate at all costs. Probate is the court proceeding filed in order to appoint an executor – called a personal representative in Arizona – to be able to access a deceased person’s bank accounts and assets and settle their estate. You will likely have to file probate if your deceased loved one has no Will. However, the estate of a person that has only a Will is also very likely to end up in probate court. That’s because a Will doesn’t enable the personal representative named in the Will to act for them. The court still has to formally appoint your personal representative before they can begin to work on settling the estate. The Will is just directions to the court on what you want the court to order as to your estate.
looking at case files and approaching the family. One client recently said they had numerous letters from people wanting to buy her deceased mother’s house, and that one real estate agent actually came knocking on the door when they didn’t respond to his calls.
If privacy is important to you, then you want to avoid probate by using a Revocable Living Trust for your planning. The Trust avoids probate. Your named successor trustee does not have to be appointed by the court. The Trustee is able to access the accounts and property owned in the trust right away. The Trust is private too, there is no need to file anything with the court if it is put together properly.
On your death, your heirs will need to settle your estate, and unless you have the right plan in place, you may be placing a heavy burden on them. The best way to make it less burdensome is to use a Revocable Living Trust for your estate planning. A trust isn’t just for the wealthy. Everyday people who want to make sure their affairs are in order after death can easily do so with a trust.
Another reason to avoid probate is that it’s a public proceeding. I can call and for just a few dollars have a copy of your Will by the end of the day. I can go look at the court file and get a list of the people who are included – with their addresses. In many cases, a list of assets must also be filed. Wow. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want people to be able to get information about my affairs that easily!
Another aspect of the public nature of probate are the predators actively
If you are ready to put a proper estate plan in place – one that avoids probate and makes it easier for someone to manage your assets if you are incapacitated – give our office a call at 602-375-6752, and book an initial consult with me or our other attorney, Allison Gloss.
Are you gaining belly fat that you can’t seem to get rid of? Are you tired all the time, but can’t figure out what’s going on? Is your brain not functioning as well as it used to? If this is you, then please call us – we need to help you address this to prevent the long-term results of the above: heart attack, stroke, dementia, chronic joint pain/joint replacement surgery, depression, anxiety and many other chronic diseases.
No one wants to have a heart attack, stroke or dementia for sure, as many times we lose our independence, and it’s scary to depend on others all the time. Depression, anxiety and joint surgery doesn’t seem quite so bad – but our ability to enjoy life is significantly diminished if we have these symptoms. And as we’re nearing or in retirement, we’ve been looking forward to enjoying travel, more athletics, time with grandkids and more hobbies, but if we’re not feeling good, it’s not a time of joy, it’s more a time of stress. That’s not okay, and there’s a way to address that!
We see those around us gaining weight as they get older, so we start thinking it’s normal, but it’s really not! It didn’t used to be this way, even as short a time ago as the 1970s! Look at pictures of people at the
Functional Medicine and Brain Treatment Center
Identifying dysfunction in the body and
beach or at gatherings from that time and the obese/ overweight person is rare. Now they’re everywhere –and treatment is not the “magic” drug Ozempic that everyone’s pushing.
It is important to look for underlying causes of weight gain – hormonal deficiency, chronic infections, undiagnosed sleep apnea, food sensitivities, chemical toxicity and the list goes on. These underlying issues often cause the fatigue that many of us feel – but alternatively, some people get overly-revved up. They can’t settle down to relax and they are in a state of fight or flight – which, temporarily, works better than exhaustion. However, we can’t heal our bodies when we’re in fight of flight, so we need to undo that state to start improving our health.
Did you know that men have almost a 70 percent decrease in their sperm count these days as compared to 60 yrs ago? That means their sex hormones are way down too – which affects libido, body fat levels, motivation for life (and that ever present honey-do list) and our energy levels.
On the female side, it’s almost universal that women are having symptoms going through menopause these days when it used to be a non-event. Our
monthly event just stopped being something we had to deal with, as compared to now many (if not most of us), have issues with severe brain fog, weight gain, depression/irritability, fatigue, joint pain, hot flashes –symptoms that are really interfering with our lives.
Prescriptions medications don’t fix these issues. They may cover up symptoms, but they’re not resolving the underlying cause. What Dr. Jennifer Sosnowski, one of the top Functional Medicine physicians in the country, and her team at MVP Medical Care, do is help you learn to get your full health back by resolving these symptoms naturally. With that, you’ll be looking good, feeling good and be ready to take on the world! You’ll be that awesome grandparent to your grandkids, be the leader in organizing trips with your friends, get out and enjoy hikes in nature (especially now that it’s getting cool), or start a new hobby!

get it. Sometimes life goes speeding by so fast it seems like there’s hardly time to breathe. Little things get shoved to the side, until one day they become too big to ignore. With hearing loss, conversations get harder, particularly in crowded places. Your TV gets turned up louder and louder. And the sweet sounds of the natural world seem to faded away.
CAN HELP. At Platinum Hearing, we specialize in finding the perfect hearing solutions for people just like you.
By Shoulder Pain Expert, Dr. Matthew Hernandez, Ethos Integrative Medicine
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?
You’ve seen everyone for shoulder pain, and are still left without solutions. You’ve tried therapeutic massages but it came back (or worse, aggravated it), chiropractic care only offered temporary relief, your physical therapist put you on the same exercises as everyone, the pain management doctor did a nerve ablation and told you to stop being active, and the orthopedic surgeon told you that you weren’t a surgical candidate…
When you’re experiencing shoulder pain all day, it’s no surprise that you would turn to sleep for relief. But when sleeping seated in a chair becomes as bad as lying on your side, it’s time to solve the mystery of your shoulder pain.
Unfortunately, for many on the quest to conquering discomfort, their only option from healthcare providers is to
“wait until it gets worse.” Here’s what they don’t want you to know: You can actually get relief now.
Irene, who had been dealing with shoulder pain for six months, came to us for this exact reason. She didn’t want to resort to temporary cortisone injections, daily sleeping pills, or pain medication. She wanted a long-term solution.
“The worst part was not being able to sleep at night.” Despite three months of physical therapy, her improvement was minimal. An orthopedic surgeon also diagnosed her with a rotator cuff injury, but told her she needed to wait for it to get worse to consider surgery.
Recognizing Irene’s frustration, we swiftly took action, confirming her rotator cuff tear, and identifying a second injury in her shoulder that was contributing to her pain.
1. Ethos Pain Profile: Is designed to identify the specific characteristics of your pain, so we can pinpoint exactly where it’s coming from
2. 32-Point Shoulder Inspection: Your pain bothers you during specific movements. Our 32-Point Shoulder Inspection allows us to replicate those painful movements so we are one step closer to eliminating them.
3. Precision Shoulder Scan: Our advanced musculoskeletal ultrasound exam gives a detailed, real-time view of your shoulder’s structures, providing more accuracy than a regular MRI.
4. Ethos Pain Map: This is a specialized method to confirm the exact source of pain in your body. This detailed approach helps us create a personalized strategy, increasing your likelihood of long-term success.
5. Easy-To-Understand Explanation: We skip the complex terms and offer you a direct, honest breakdown of your diagnosis.
6. Leave You Better Promise: If by the end of the visit you do not have a better understanding of your pain or what your options are moving forward we will give you a full refund on your visit.
Get Out Of Pain TODAY: Call 480-573-6171 to Get Started with your Deep Dive at Ethos Integrative Medicine!
We explained to Irene how she had fallen into what we call “The Gap” in conventional medicine, and how regenerative medicine bridges this gap. Irene chose to partner with us and underwent two treatments. In just four weeks, her pain had improved significantly, allowing her to finally get a good night’s sleep.
Irene’s story is not uncommon; applying a one-size-fits-all approach left her without clear guidance or solutions. You don’t need to wait until it gets worse!
With our comprehensive Deep Dive (which includes our Pain Profile, 32-Point Shoulder Inspection, Precision Shoulder Scan, and Diagnostic Mapping Technique — all of which were used to confirm Irene’s pain and guide her treatment strategy), we’ll not only get YOU an accurate diagnosis (and explain it to you!), but will also provide you with a personalized treatment
plan to effectively treat your pain and prevent it from coming back.
If you’ve been wondering, ‘why does my shoulder hurt at night?’ and are eager for answers, call 480-573-6171 to schedule your Deep Dive for a Pain-Free Shoulder with our specialists at Ethos Integrative Medicine, and scan the QR code below to access our FREE report, “Shoulder SOS: The Expert Guide to Decoding Your Pain.”

CROSSWORD ANSWER from page 40.
SUDOKU ANSWER from page 41.
By Tony Beal IN THEATERS
“A
After a surgery that fixes his facial deformity, a man finds a play about his story colliding with his life.
A very funny film about oneself and perception, with Sebastian Stan’s greatest performance to date. Watching his character, Edward, bottle up his insecurities before they leak out, whether it’s in basic conversations or his own quiet parts, is truly great. All the while, Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson’s supporting work show how versatile the two are as they enhance the grounded but odd world it has. From a filmmaking perspective it’s stunning, some great lighting here to add to the mood of the film. That said, the movie does end on a rather strange note, a result of the film perhaps not stopping at the right moment. Still, it doesn’t ruin what was an hour and forty minutes of unnerving and thoughtful humor.
The chaos surrounding the 90 minutes leading up to the first Saturday Night Live episode.
One of the most self-congratulatory pieces of film in a while, one that can’t bother to actually explore the people behind SNL beyond an easy and consumable level. There’s no examination of how Lorne Michaels sees his cast or the actual impact the show had for its time period, just about how wacky everything is. This is a highly talented cast but most of them don’t get to do much with the material given, just imitations of these people. The only exceptions are Cory Michael Smith, Lamorne Morris and Willem Dafoe who give the film energy. The most insulting thing is how the film builds tension about whether the show will come together - not because we know it will, but because it acts like these future stars may not be. It goes for the easy option.
“Apartment 7A”
A young dancer finds herself at the center of a horrifying conspiracy when she moves into a new apartment.
It’s an enormous task to follow up a classic like Rosemary’s Baby, but that’s still no excuse to deliver such a dull waste of time. Apartment 7A offers nothing new as a prequel or as its own experience, more a retread with less interesting moviemaking and with nothing new to say from 56 years ago. It moves at a snail’s pace, with nothing of interest happening beyond odd antics and the occasional jump scare. The actors do their honest best with the material but are unable to rise above it. There’s little that makes the film even feel like a distinct and new entry from its predecessor. It’s as if it was its own script that was slapped into the universe as a quick cash-grab.
“Wolfs”
Two lone-wolf fixers find themselves forced into the same job together.
Clooney and Pitt’s long awaited reunion lacks energy and personality for a stereotypical streamer movie. There is no real movement to the film, just events happening for the sake of the plot rather than any real story motivation, and in a world that feels
dead (which is odd for a city like New York). It would be made up for if the main duo were as fun as expected, but the script and direction give neither much to do which results in the two seeming to be bored throughout the film. Ironically, for a movie all about unexpected twists and turns, it’s very predictable in terms of filmmaking and plot. A disposable film, one that will be forgotten about by the time you read this.

-By Leading USA Sciatica Expert, Dr. Tom Padilla
Is doing everyday things from standing up straight to finding comfortable sleeping positions and even just walking difficult because of sciatica pain? You may find it hard to focus on enjoying those around you because you’re distracted by your pain. You may have already tried chiropractic, massage, stretching, and exercise, but the difficulty is knowing which things will help and which won’t. This can be frustrating because it seems unpredictable.
Some sciatica is caused by muscular weakness and restriction, while others can be caused by stiff joints. Ultimately, certain exercises may help some sciatica, but make other types worse. To best help you, I’ve compiled a list of tips that will help anyone with sciatica regardless of the type to reduce daily pain.
Most people with sciatica just want to know if there’s a solution that actually lasts. Solutions that used to work, don’t work any longer. Eventually you find yourself in a rabbit hole, searching high and low for solutions that hopefully help you avoid surgery.
One of my patients, Marian, had tried everything above on top of back surgery, unspecialized physical therapy, pain management, spinal injections, spinal electrostimulation, acupuncture, and dietary analysis.
Marian told me, “When you go through this, you learn how many things you can no longer do if you can’t stand or walk.”
You Don’t Have to Choose Between Surgery and Giving Up the Activities that You Love.
Sciatica is so common because many of the solutions out there just take one area into consideration. The muscles, the joints, nerves, strength, weakness, etcetera. The simple truth is that sciatica is a complex condition with many contributing factors.
The core issue, which has been proven time and again in the best research, is that the body has developed compensation patterns in order to protect itself. These patterns are hardwired into the brain, and will continue to persist unless they are fixed.
This pattern is what CAUSES the tight muscles, and the stiff joints. These tight muscles and stiff joints eventually pinch the nerve, causing sciatica. Therefore, correcting the pattern is the true root cause. No matter how long you’ve suffered, you can still get your life back. No surgery. No pills.
6 Reasons Why Your Sciatica May Be Lasting Longer than it Should:
1. You tried looking up exercises to do on your own for your sciatica. But with many “causes,” it’s difficult to figure out which exercises are right for you. This is why some exercises can seem to make it better, but some make it much worse.
2. You tried a few relaxing massages and it felt good for a few days but then it came back.
3. You tried chiropractic care and it eased a bit, but the nagging sensation is still there.
4. You tried waiting for it to go away on its own. That didn’t work…
5. You went to the doctor’s office, and they gave you pain meds or nerve medication to numb the pain. They told you to come back in 6 weeks if it didn’t work.
6. You went to a physical therapist who put you on the same exercises everyone else with sciatica gets…then they left you with an assistant who only half watched your technique.
If any of these things have happened to you, unfortunately it’s common. The issue with a lot of these methods is that they focus on addressing the symptoms, not the root cause of your sciatica. What to Avoid
Here are 3 things that can make your sciatica pain worse.
Stretching: If you’ve been stretching to fix your sciatica and it hasn’t worked yet, it likely won’t. More often than not, sciatica has come up because of tight muscles. Stretching is for short muscles. Tight muscles are tight because they’re compensating for a weak muscle nearby.
Stretching will relieve them for a little bit, but it will come back unless the weakness is resolved.
Crossing Your Legs: Avoid crossing your legs at all costs. This can cause stretching in the back of your hip which compresses the sciatic nerve. It also causes twisting in your hips and pelvis which can put stress on the nerves in your back.
Resting: Certain activities right now might make your sciatica worse, but that doesn’t mean you should restrict all of your movements. If certain things are painful, like walking, lifting, sitting, it’s important to find the root cause so you can start moving properly and stay active.
How to Fix Sciatica for the Long Term
So many of the “solutions” we try only provide temporary relief because they’re not targeting the root cause. And without getting to the source of the problem, sciatica pain will continue to return because the cause was never addressed.
Marian learned this the hard way, and unfortunately a lot of people do. After addressing the root cause, Marian says, “I’m back to walking 3-4 miles a day; I can lift and hold my grandbabies; I can go to parties without having to sit in a corner; I can go shopping again.” The only thing she’d change? Finding a specialist to help her address the root cause sooner. “I could have avoided a lot of doctors’ appointments and needless and expensive treatments, not to mention losing a couple of years to my other attempts.”
