OCJ Kids

OCJ Kids was founded by Gary and Tamara Webb to provide essential resources to Arizona's foster children; resources that are often not provided through state budgets. Arizona currently has 14,000 children in foster care, and an average of 700 new children entering the system every month. From the moment these children are removed from a neglectful or abusive situation, OCJ Kids gives resources to the Department of Child Safety case aides to give these precious ones. OCJ Kids realizes that not everyone can foster or adopt, but everyone can have an impact in the life of a child in foster care. We partner with local business, faith and social communities to provide opportunities for impact. This can include gathering and building resource kits, volunteering at a big event such as celebrating backto-school or Christmas, or becoming a house mentor or phone mentor for these youth. This spring, we will open the Restoring Dignity Room in partnership with Thunderbirds Charities. Statistically, 80% of the girls in foster care have been sexually abused. They often come into care with only the clothes on their back, and quite frequently, the bra they have (if they have one) will not be the correct size. The Restoring Dignity Room will be a safe place where teen girls in foster care will be able to come, learn how to size and fit themselves for bras, choose two new bras, and spend time with volunteers who can begin speaking into who they are, not who they have been lied to and told they are by their abusers. We will fit 500 foster teen girls with new bras in the first year of our program. There are thousands of children in foster care; thousands of children who need to know they are not forgotten. We can wrap around Arizona's foster children and show them a community of love and support as they navigate through foster care and begin to heal. You can show a child in foster care they are loved.
